Title: HR 6358 has been sitting in Senate committee for a month.

Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions hasn't done shit with it. Apparently the committee wants it to quietly die.

I think the Democrat from Massachusetts and the Republican from Wyoming need a nice fat e-bitchslap.

help_comments@help.senate.gov to start, but track down the individual Congresscritters involved and give them an earful.

This was Miller's bill - he's the Chair of the House Education and Labor Committee - one of the top Dem dogs of the House,  that's the real reason the bill, flawed as it is, passed on a roll call vote under a suspension of the rules.

The senate is a different ballgame.

Let's see, Ted Kennedy almost died and came down to the senate chambers for one vote.  Doubt he will be doing much in terms of legislation.  Obama is running around on his Unicorn talking about "change" (I feel sudden tingle down my leg).  Bernard Sanders has been trying to impeach the president.  Hillary is planning her HRC2012 campaign.  Jack Reed is holding up Obama's cape as he tours Europe.

Then on to the republicans....
Murkowski is busy with the legalization of drilling in ANWAR.  Orrin Hatch is at a fundraiser at WWASP headquarters.  And the rest of the republicans are scared of actually doing their job because most of them are going to lose the next election cycle.

The only way that this bill will pass is if all the political maneuvering in Washington magically disappears overnight and senators actually do what is in their oath of office.  Don't hold your breat

There is no action planned on the bill until after the election.  It would make no sense to pass it only to have Bush veto it.  The legislators are betting that no matter who wins the presidency, the Dems will have a larger majority after November.

So this means nothing.

Bush doesn't know how to veto.

And even if he did, it's more ammo to use against the Republicans.

Get in touch with the assholes on the committee who should be doing their jobs (Hillary would be a great start, as she's children-this and children-that all the time) and get this shit moving forward.
