Title: Having a Child

I am nearly forty, and having my first child.    Part of why I waited so long to have a child is that my childhood was horrible.  My parents had no business having children.

From what I remember in  raps and propheets, many of us had parents with exceptionally poor parenting skills -- physical and sexual abuse in our past was rather common.

I'd love to hear any words of wisdom from survivors who have children of their own.
