The people who have lived in terror al these years need to know he is never going to get back into power, this is closure for them, alot of stories will come out now they feel safe to do so, don't you think they've been told he is coming back?
There is an uncut video that shows the whole thing, it's not pretty - but then nor is beheading someone with a blunt knife or cutting off their hands for steaing bread to feed their dying family and so the list goes on

Showing an actual execution, or the noose around the condemned man's neck on Television is in shockingly poor taste and only brings out the worst in Human nature. Regardless of what they have done.
If whoever ordered the tortures in Abu Gharib was captured and sentenced to death and people in the middle east publically exhulted in their grisly death the west would quite reasonably be outraged by the barbarism of it.
Hopefully a new years resolution is that we are all a little kinder to each other

The Arabs do exult in the grisly deaths of those that they have kidnapped and murdered. Whether they are mercenaries ("private security consultants"), reporters, or even aid workers, their savage beheadings have been videotaped and broadcast, and the bodies of many have been hung or otherwise displayed in public places.
Personally, I think watching the video is akin to watching a snuff film, and it's not something I want to see, but to imply that it is only the West that is perpetrating this form of barbarism, and that the Muslim world is unaccustomed seeing such grim spectacles, is absolutely absurd. Any Muslim fundamentalist or Iraqi insurgent supporter that claims moral outrage at the film of Saddam's hanging is a hypocrite. Many innocent civilians, from construction workers to medical workers to journalists, obviously non-combatants, have been kidnapped and subsequently tortured and murdered as the unblinking lenses of video cameras recorded the horrific scenes for broadcast and circulation on the internet and of recorded copies. These are often viewed for entertainment by the Arab public. The execution video of Saddam Hussein is tame by comparison, as are the offenses of the kidnapped hostages when seen next to his.crimes .

Does it really matter if the killing is overt or covert. Interesting that none of these memories were allowed to be presented at Saddam's "trial."

America likes it's violence faked. Movies, TV, nightly news. You'll find much more violence on your ten year old's video game than on the Saddam video. But, it's a little to REAL for some people... slumber, back to beddy by, more fake violence for me. Crackkity crack goes saddam's neck, watch his country burn... the record turns.. round again. Moral outrage... :rofl:

So what we should follow this example? lower ourselves to the same barbaric mentality and show snuff films as news footage. My point was not really about whether Sadam deserved his fate or not, it was that encouraging people to watch any execution as info tainment is cheap and low and makes us all a little less human.

How pretty is putting a person in jail FOR LIFE FOR STEALING A SLICE OF PIZZA?
Is something only barbaric if there is a crowd there to witness it?
Personally Im all for hanging people who engage in acts of torture and murder of innocents....GB is pro torture- he re wrote anti torture laws protecting POWs. SO when is he being hanged?
