Title: First timer
Post by: Anonymous on March 02, 2003, 01:21:00 AM
This my first time posting, sorry for any grammer ,etc ,errors.I am not into typing or being proper or even trying to be. Does anyone remember being an oldcomer and after open meetings having staff threaten you to change your newcomers or you would be set back! My god i would get so scared and angry that it would happen(which it never did for me even when they didnt change)I would land blast any newcomer i had that night.Tonight i just realized i never cared if they would lived or died or changed! That is when i started to see how fucked up kids was.I hated to restrain kids i would rather fight one on one.I used to scream alot and it took me time after i graduated and left that i was such a kiss ass! cause i never felt in my heart to be that way,it didnt work for me beig yelled at.Most of my newcomers i had I did more drugs in one day then they ever did. thank god for A.A showing me how to get really sober i hated to be controlled to do something i didnt believe in.Thats why i left and now i treat people right unless you fuck with me then i am a bastard.

Who are you? Glad to hear your sober and a part of AA. What a differnt reality of being sober from Kids to AA. What a wake up call it was for me. I was one of those people that most of you think back and can`t believe I am alcoholic, but I am ! And do go to AA and when I run into people from Kids in meetings they say, "What are you doing here?" Even though I did not drink nearly as much as most alcoholics , I still believe I am. I know my drinking & druging would of only gotton worse if I had the oppertunity to keep drinking.

I heard new DIO is cool, I haven't heard it though.  You do have the right to listen to what you want, but admitting to digging "new country"...??  You don't have to "own your wrongs" anymore, my friend..

Kidding.  Country, metal, polka...it all sounds good with a buzz.

Rock on-

Since all of you seemed to have been in AA, and obviously have first-hand experience of it. Do any of you believe that using the " 12-step" program for other situations as in behavior in teenagers, especially the ones who really dont have a problem, is really healthy and a good idea, i dont knw much about the 12 step program, only from what i hear from others which i dont know that it is all true. So can anyone please  give me as much information as possible on it
thank you

As an AA member, I do believe it can work for anyone, no matter what your problem may be. But the person needs to want it and be ready. No one can get it if they don`t want it.There are 12 step programs for almost every kind of problem these days. There`s : NA, OA, DA, WA, SA,S/lA, and the list goes on and on.....

You can check with your state if they have a Directory for Self-Help Network.

Good Luck

YOU GUYS THAT ARE TALKING ABOUT BEING IN AA AND WHAT NOT, DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE THAT YOU HAVE THE PROBLEMS YOU SAY YOU DO, OR IS IT MILLER STILL TELL YOU THAT IN YOUR HEAD?  NOW, DON'T TAKE THIS WRONG BUT HAVING A DRINK, OR DRINKING TO RELAX OR TO FEEL A LITTLE GOOD DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE AN ALCOHOLIC. MOST OF US THAT WENT IN WERE JUST GOING THROUGH A STAGE IN LIFE THAT ACTUALLY IS NORMAL. I WENT IN THERE AND WAS TOLD I WAS A DRUGGIE. I NEVER DID DRUGS AND WOULD SIP OFF OF MY FRIENDS IF THEY HAD BEER. WHEN I LEFT THE PROGRAM I WAS AFRAID TO EVEN LOOK AT BEER, AFTER A WHILE I LEARNED ABOUT A THING CALLED SELF CONTROL AND I LIVE A NORMAL LIFE AND ENJOY DRINKING HERE AND THERE, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT.  I JUST WORRIE THAT SOME OF YOU ARE STILL TRAPPED IN THE WORLD OF "NEWTON". THERE IS SOOOO MUCH MORE TO LIFE. HE TWISTED EVERYTHING AND TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THE WEEK AND USED THE STRONGER TO DO HIS DIRTY WORK. THAT MAN KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT GETTING STRAIGHT OR SOBER, LET ALONE LOVE AND CARE AND LIFE ITSELF.  YOU YOU TRULY BELIVE THAT YOU HAVE THE PROBLEMS YOU SAY YOU DO, THEN I CONGRADULATE YOU AND WISH YOU THE BEST. BUT IF YOU DO NOT BELIVE WHAT YOU ARE SAYING THEN GO FOR HELP.    TAKE CARE

i know that is the clinical way of saying it,but i don't lie to my self.i do have an out of control temper and i work on it everyday,bc i dont like the way i fell and also what i've done to others in my past.so if you knew my past from group you would understand.i don't hold resentments.i knew it wasn't for me so i left,i wasnt going to let the rest of my life fade away.i had a lot of years to make up for

Sme people there had problems.
REAL problems.
And as a result, we all had REAL problems, although I don't believe that drugs or booze or food or whatever the fuck Miller Newton tried to cure us of.

Some of us can cope and drink socially or smoke or maintain a high.  Some can't.  We'are all different.  I applaud anyone who chooses to stay clean/sober after Kids.
Whatever sort of support you choose to utilize for your personal betterment is fine with me.

This group of people...
Some of you I know (Kim F., Mike J., JEff Z., Larry G., Mike A., and others from when I was in NJ.  I also remember others from El Paso and communicate on that board a lot as well...
Others I don't know, have never met and may never meet, but yet we all share the unique perspective from our experience in Kids.
There's not many people I can talk to who would understand how it has affected my thinking to this day, some 13 years after I walked away from there.

I hope those that remember me get in touch.

I'm the overeater from El Paso.
In the Army at one point...
In Kids of El Paso from 1/1/89 - 10/89, when we flew to Newark and drove to River Edge, my home-away-from-home until August 90...
If you're Mike A. from Calgary, I stayed more than a few nights at your house.
You went nearly mental trying to figure out how a ceaser salad fit into my food plan.
Heh.
I knew, but being an imbicile newcomer, I couldn't say anything, right?

Hey girl!! It's J  ess, I have a question, do you really think that there is such a thing as a behavior problem. I thought the same thing for the longest time becuase I did not know how to explain my rage, but I think that is still program slang. Do you think that maybe it is just a mood swing maybe even pms, in most cases when I get really mad and let me tell you that my heart still pumps and my eyes still twitch, it is usally that I just got alot going on. Most of the time I just need a good cry. I am not trying to nock you in any way but I thing we were alot alike in some ways and I think your okay. I just wanted to give you my opinion. What do you think?

No, but I've heard the name.
Your best bet would be to contact the webmaster at http://http://www.kidsofelpaso.com.
He seems to know the most about the most people from El Paso.

One: Your question doesn't provide enough information to formulate an answer.
Two: Out of respect for their anonymity, I would refer you to any website and contact that webmaster.

However, I will say that the webmaster for http://http://www.kidsofelpaso.com, which I mentioned in an earlier post, is definitely not a she.
