This is so pathetic.  What a total waste of taxpayer money.  What is happening in this country?  Have we all lost our fucking minds?

I'm not a Bowie fan but I am a Bad Religion fan.

I'm sure the fedz confiscating all those bongs is really gonna stop tens of millions of Americans from smoking weed....

Good point in that article that one of the interviewees made...they were doing everything right, and now the government is saying there is no right.....no due process, no law changes....just a huge search and seizure because they "feel" like it.  Getting the hell out of this fucked up country looks more and more appealing every day.  Get out while we still can that is.

Sometimes I wonder if things are really so bad, or if I have just become more cynical in getting older....more able to see whats been going on since way back.  But I really think there is an "Axis of Evil" right here in our country that is gonna get us all killed.  Its almost paranoid, the way I feel about the crap going on lately.  Whats scarier? A government that keeps this stuff under wraps from the public? Or one that tells the public to shut up and get used to the idea of things changing?

"Our country is run by evil primates."

Hey that's an insult to primates. Read "Next of Kin" by Roger Fouts or "In My Family Tree" by Sheila Siddle.

long live the cylindrical glass tube with the closed bottom and the portal at the low end with the removable piece approximately the diameter of a drinking straw but with one end widened into a tiny cup.

also long live the lovely glass object with the depression in it at one end and a narrow vent escaping from that depression to travel through and open out at the other end of the object.

long live all objects similar in appearance yet fashioned of other materials in ingenious variations.

I can remember, at one time, making a nicely serviceable bong with a toilet paper tube and aluminium foil. Is Ashcroft going to come and confiscate my TP now?

If I were a pot smoker and I needed a pipe, I could buy a tobacco pipe.  If I were a crack smoker, I could use an aluminum can.  So, even if one is "pro drug war" like fascist Bill O'Reilley, this does nothing to inhibit marijuanna or crack use at all.  It's even worse than the Drug War.  It's all about fascism in the sense that it is an attempt to "cleanse" this sector of culture that Adolf Ashcroft does not approve of.

I bought a really beautiful Chong Bong for my Hubby for X-mas last year.  It is really really beautiful, I mean as an object of art.  I would love to start collecting them, and I dont even smoke. He chooses to smoke pot occasionally in lieu of anti-depressants, which is fine by me.  I just like looking at them.  I think they make great decorative pieces.

Chongware is really nice.  I was lucky enough to have him sign a couple of pieces at a comedy club where I met him and his wife ("TREE" for true fans).

Are you active in the medical marijuana movement?  Marijuana in lieu of anti-depressents is a positive choice.  There are now many states that have passed med-marijuana laws, unfortunately they conflict with national policy, though.  Check the net for current listings of doctor's and dispensaries in your area if laws permit.

Check out "The Bong Song" by the Butthole Surfers from the 4-song "Widowermaker EP". This masterpiece is The Bong Anthem. The beginning is reminiscent of "Sweet Leaf". Me and a fellow graduate listened to it on our phases and felt so WRONG  !

Yes, but the do NOT conflict with the national Constitution, which bestowes exactly zero authority on the Federal government to prohibit any plant or drug.

And there have been some very encouraging signs indicating that the lunatics may be losing their omnipotence in the federal system.

Thanks to Tom Angell of Rhode Island SSDP for the fast forward.

From the 9th Circuit's ruling: CONCLUSION [12] Because the DEA's rule is inconsistent with the THC regulation in effect at the time of its
promulgation, it is a procedurally invalid legislative rule, not an interpretive rule. We therefore have jurisdiction under 21 U.S.C. ยง 877.

The petition requesting that we declare the rule to be invalid and unenforceable is GRANTED.

Yes...and back in the mid-80's on their album "Locust Abortion Technician" they did a psuedo-cover of Sweet Leaf entitled "Sweat Loaf"...remember that?
I've pretty much always LOVED the Butthole Surfers...their sick humor lifted my spirits to new heights in my post-straight days...and I'm more than a little proud of the fact that the band I joined back after the program (Reptile House) opened for them twice. The first time was in the Summer of '85 at WUST music hall in DC. The Dead Kennedys topped the bill. There was more than 1000 people there, which was COOL! The 2nd time was at the old 9:30 club (DC)... I could rattle on more, but I realize this is getting a little too off-topic...

What can I say man? They got me through high school, and Straight inc. That's saying alot. Locust has "O-Men" on it and "Graveyard" and "Sweat Loaf" which has to be heard on LSD to be appreciated fully. By the way, they are THE BEST band I know of to trip to. Grateful Dead is fine, but the Butthole Surfers could take you all the way on a trip, whether you really wanted to go or not. Their cover of "Hurdy Gurdy Man" still inspires me. Their new stuff on "Weird Revolution" doesn't do much for me. I liked Hairway to Steven; Locust Abortion Technician; Psychic, Powerless, Another Man's Sac..., Rembrandt Pussyhorse (with "American Woman") and their first EP on Alternative Tentacles. Independant Worm Saloon was cool, had "alcohol" which sounded like my manic throes and swirlyness on booze. I could go on and on. "Electric Larryland" was decent with "Pepper" and "Cough Syrup" is a classic.
