For most of us the statute of limtations are up. But, do any of the "residents" who got out recently have any intentions of suing?

the crazy shit people are/have been trying to sue elan for are no longer an issue there, so the only basis a recent student could file a lawsuit on would be "The food sucked, and the toilets clog to much."

There's no emotional trauma anymore?

Well, that term is relative, rather, subjective... I would venture to say the bulk of emotional trauma for a normal, intelligent, induvidualized/actualized person beyond the age of 16 is fairly minimal. This 'trauma' as you called it, is limited to being mildly degraded or humiliated, mild to moderate brainwashing/conditioning attempts, and below average living conditions.
The experience is still not something I would wish on my enemies, and no minor or preteen should have to deal with the insanity, doublethink, and sheer facism that is elan.
Parents who send their children there would still be wrong to do so, and the staff and directors who work there are still, ultimately, either evil or stupid or both. However, the tools at these people's command have been limited over the years, and the program has been reigned in somewhat, and is not the hell it used to be, the sins not quite as horrendous.
