The only way the "war on drugs" (pathetic) will ever be won is if they take away every citizen's privacy, all of it. And "president bush" (what a joke of a president) is already working on that, you all probably heard of the spying on muslims which was justidied as part of the "war on terror." I wonder what and who the government is spying on now that we will never know about?

I hear ya, but the op wasn't referring to much that related to any of that. Ok, so she DID mention the drug war, but the rest of that jibber-jabber should have been posted on tacitus' realm imo.

I think it's inseperable. Straight, Inc. is now DFAF, which is a PAC. The people and organizations affiliated w/ the Program are so thoroughly tied to politics it's impossible to have an fair and meaningful conversation about the Program w/o touching on the political aspects of it. After all these years, dont ya think maybe it's about time to bring it along to the next level?

Just after the WTC towers came down, drug policy wonks and luminaries came pretty close to consensus on taking the season off. They figured we, as a nation, were under attack by a foreign enemy and, naturally, the opposition would be just as willing as they were to bury the hatchet for the time being. They were dead wrong. Instead, our benevolent old mindfuckers went full throttle w/ a very expensive media blitz--those Super Bowl ads alone ran into the millions--trying to blame the WTC attack on 13yo pot smokers.

Str8survivor had little, if anything, to do w/ that. He/she didn't make this a political issue. Someone else did, years ago, probably before we were born.

Sure, but that connection (which exists, of course) wasn't touched upon in his/her post...w/e.
