Midwest Academy buys Sinclair gas station in Montrose

Yes, Midwest Academy, rural Keokuk, has purchased the Sinclair gas station in Montrose. No, they are not turning it into a hotel. At least, not yet.

Ben Trane, the assistant director at the academy, said there are several ideas for the future use of the property - a hotel among them - but nothing solid as of yet.

?We're purchasing that gas station and the property,? Trane said. ?There's been some ideas thrown around, and (the hotel) is one of them. However, there's nothing definite yet. It's a beautiful spot by the river, and we bring in a lot of parents every month to visit the school and their children. So a hotel would serve some purpose. We have also talked about using it just for stuff for our school. We could use it as a recreational area or another location for students to work at.?

Trane said he expects the school to reach some decision on the use of the property in six to eight months. In the meantime, he said, it will continue to operate as a gas station.

According to the academy's Web site, Midwest Academy is a specialty boarding school. It is a two-story self-contained facility which has dormitories, classrooms, a gymnasium, a cafeteria and recreation space. The academy offers a structured environment where students can progress both academically and personally, developing proper motivation and self-direction. The academy also teaches accountability, values, integrity, respect, honor and responsibility.

Well, their friends at PCS run a hotel and they can always call on Jay Kay for advice on how to run a gas station.

let's see;

boarding school; (for children's warehouse) = $40K

escourt service; = est. $5K

seminars; (air, hotel & rental vehicle) = est. $2K

gas station/hotel to allow parents to visit children = PRICELESS

NOW this shit has gone full circle!!!

WHAT will Bob & Ken think of next...maybe they can convince  J. Ralph to loan them an airplane to transport these dumbass parents?

ISn't Brian Viafunua (former owner of Paradise Cove) the owner of Midwest Academy?

Well, if that were true, then why would they need to own/control the environment where these kids visit w/ their parents? Why not just drop the kid off at an airport w/ a plane ticket home for the weekend? Or, better yet, reserve some bed space on campus for parents to have extended visits?

I'm not sure if he owns the place, but he is the director.

TB also has a small place for visiting parents. It seems like common practice for these hellholes. It makes sense-- controlling the environment the parents are in so they wouldn't get to hear anything but program bullshit.

What about that other guy who ran Paradise Cove when Viafunua wasn't there (which was a lot of the time from what I recall).  Think he was married to Brian's sister but can't remember his name.  Might have been a Native American or part NA?

Another trick is to invite parents who are getting cold feet to visit the facility unannounced ... except the hotel tips them off as soon as they make a booking so they can just go through the usual "inspection day" bullshit.
