I wonder if the Central American Free Trade Agreement signed last night will have anything to do with Pillars of Hope (Dundee ranch II) in Costa Rica?  Obviously, the more goods we buy from Costa Rica will support a country that supports this sort of institution.

I also wonder how they get an kid over 18 to agree to such a place?  Does anyone have any direct experience with this?  What happens if the kid over 18 decides they want to come home?  Is it like TB where they can't unless the parents give the okay?  It said there was a phone in every dorm, but the way they describe it, it only seems to be able to accept incoming calls.

If theyre 14 they can request a passport from the embassy. If they're 18 they can get assistance to come back to the USA... granted the embassy does its damn job that is.

Its probably going to take a little field trip to make them do so, just like it did in Samoa and just like it will in Jamaica.

how do they get assistance when the damn place won't allow them any outside contact?  It's not like you can stand up and demand to use a phone or get mail.  I really feel for those kids man, it must be so hopelessly frustrating.

Many kids over 18 are stuck in programs and will stay stuck because no one is there to bail them out. If the parents want to keep on footing the bill then the program folks are more than happy to keep them.

So, if you know someone who has turned 18 and who is in a program then it would be up to you to find a way to get there and try to bail them out, if their parents don't.

wow...that's scary. you'd think that(especially at ages 18+)being held against your will would be kidnapping. any "escort service" or "program" that abducts 18+ y/o should be prosecuted for kidnapping under our current laws.

Then call the media, the embassy, the Costa Rican authorities, and http://www.isaccorp.org (http://www.isaccorp.org)

So?Whats with the name change? Same facility, same program structure and same company. I have never seen a company throw around names like the WWASP cult.
