You sound like one of those nasty WWASP seminar facilitators, spouting such things as "magical child" under new terminology and so forth.  I wish I still had my "seminar binder".

At Cross Creek, everyone but staff buddies in a group were allowed cake during birthdays.  The birthday of a staff buddy brought no cake.  Which reminds me, when kids were given a CANDY BAR like SNICKERS for winning the "leader of the month" award, and shit, that was a WONDERFUL reward, because we did not get CANDY BARS...

But we did get pies made of whipped cream and cake...

A free market allowing many different types of adolescent treamtent options will yield the best results, the quickest. The programs that have more unsatisfied parents and teens ultimately fall by the wayside, while the more effective and sought after types of treatment thrive.

Except the result of attending a poor program is much worse than being "unsatisfied".  Honestly, look at the Gilded Age in the U.S.'s history, which ran under a similar principle.  It wasn't until the Progressive Era where laws were passed by that pesky government did accurate advertising and sanitary labor conditions and products develop.

Parents know what is best for their kids,

This is not always the case, and you know it.  Parents are regular people with faults, some more severe than others.  Not every parent holds a doctorate degree in child and adolescent psychology.  It would be fair to say that sometimes parents are not as informed or understanding as they would ideally be.  They can also be deceived like anyone else.  In addition, some parents are abusive, and please be aware that often abusive parents are not purposefully plotting to ruin their child's lives.  They often just fail or refuse to realise the seriousness or danger of what they commit, even thinking it is for their child's own good.

and they also listen to their kids when they get home and pass off this information.

This is also not always the case, and you know that as well.

Government intervention is not going to help any kid, it will only stifle new and creative ways of treatment current adolescent issues and hamper new competition.

Hampering options which have the potential to be dangerous, I would say, is not a bad idea.  Now, I may just be building a straw-man, but if I recall correctly, you do not advocate drug legalisation.  If this is the case, I could hypothetically argue that drugs being illegal stifles new and creative forms of therapy and medicine.

Where would you rather go, to fedex or the post office? Would you rather go to a government run hospital or a private hospital?

However, a private hospital still has to follow government regulations.  They can not just offer experimental, "new and creative", possibly dangerous ways of doing things legally outside these regulations.  I'm sure if a fair number of patients got very sick in a private hospital on account of neglect, the government would step in.

I remember when I saw this post I assumed it was just a silly troll..

I'm not trying to be rude, and yes, I'm taking my best guess, hence the "iirc" . . . I remember an old thread on AntiWWASP I believe which explained how he had died, and I vaguely recall those subjects.  I could be fuddling it with some other related subject, so don't take my word too seriously.

iirc he either killed himself or was in a car accident

You guys are ridiculous.  I don't know why you're all wasting your time with a troll thread clearly created to provoke responses.  It's entertaining drama and all, but I sure hope no one thinks this is actually getting anywhere besides making Fornits seem like its userbase consists of a bunch of people who resort to name-calling like a bunch of schoolchildren in a playground in order to make a point.  I mean, honestly.  Neither SUCK IT nor Whooter is very likely to change what they claim, and it is not as if you do manage to somehow make them confess how wrong they were, suddenly the program issue will magically lift away and the game is won.  Devoting what, nine threads with 127 pages, to that just seems absurd.  Maybe I'm wrong . . . can I please know what is trying to be accomplished through all this?

Maybe I'm ignorant, but I get the impression that everything is all about talk in these places with nothing actually getting done.  I find myself less and less passionate and more and more confused about programs and their place in our society.  I'm disgusted with them, but I feel so hopeless about anything happening with it  that I almost want to just forget about all it together.  Yet, at the same time, I can think about nothing but "program, program, program" on occasion.  I barely even know if what I want through was 'abuse' or whatever because I feel like I can't even remember what it was like anymore besides having occasional fits of sadness or anger in regards to it.

Now, I haven't been on Fornits since the dawn of time, but I have to say that Danny's merely looking for acceptance from the pro-program crowd.  Seriously, he'll post in response to Whooter/SUCK IT posts with "Thanks guys, great post!  Very profound!"  I don't see why it's worth it to waste time on him either.   His motives seem to be less about having to do with programs and more to do with wanting to be appreciated.

I kinda wish we could have looked at magazines at Cross Creek.  No social studies doesn't surprise me, but the fact you got "communication credit" for a rap is pretty funny.

Oh, yes.  I remember when they had "spelling" time at Cross Creek when they completely revamped the schedule.  It was so chaotic because there was pretty much nothing to do on the days there was no school, so they started filling it up with garbage like "spelling".  Randomly going through a dictionary and calling on people to spell words, fun, fun!

On another note learning styles differ from child to child so a self paced curriculum would be very beneficial to most students vs. the cookie cutter program that public schools offer.  Anytime you can find a program willing to offer a self paced curriculum it is a plus for the students.  It seems the guest benefited from CCM seeing that she had dropped out of school prior to attending CCM and was able to graduate ahead of schedule while in the program.

I would disagree; I would venture to say the "self-paced curriculum" was more cookie-cutter than the public school system.  No lectures, no interaction, and a very poor selection of courses.  Every course is just reading the textbook, completing some exercises the "teacher" may not even check, following completion of a test.  The transcripts may look pretty with all those As and Bs, but I doubt it reflect's a student's true mastery of the subject matter or study habits since the academic system was so simple, and it was literally impossible to perform poorly (all that meant was a re-do).  I remember I completed my first five credits there in, what, four or five days?  Let's not forget to mention no studying or academic work was allowed outside of the school hours unless you were a level five or above.  It's depressing just thinking about it.

I'm quite curious.

It's also pretty verifiable she's a real person, right? I get the impression it's extremely unlikely she isn't.

Why is it emphasised so much that they are a Jewish family?

It wasn't really very far from the top when I posted in it.
