Title: Anon Tally

Anonymous user #42 has accessed this site 1126 times since around the middle of October.

Of what use is this info? How are we supposed to know which "Anonymous" this is?

I guess this is determined from the IP address.  It might be useful to have the same number displayed against users' messages so we can tell if two anon posts are from the same person or a different one: it can get very confusing sometimes.  However, there could be some confusion between users who share ISPs.

It was really just a jab at someone, Frod. Someone who swore up and down that they never, ever read or posted to these forums. Some user is sometimes Expediter Trainee.

I can't tell for sure who it is, so I never named them. They know, though.

Then there's the dialup thing. Most people have some kind of DSL or cable access, so their IP addresses stay the same for a long time. But people using dialup get a new one every time they dial out.

I think if someone wants to engage in a serious conversation and doesn't want to be confused w/ other ppl, they'll pick a username. Consider that some people who are posting anon really don't want that at all. What they want is to cause chaos and infighting. Just don't take the bait.

If I was a mod on this site I would start banning some of these anons..but I am not.
I respect however you wanna run it.
This is supposed to be a place for survivors to speak their mind..and I understand some survivors wish to not have their name in public...but alot of anon posts are useless crap..just downright attcks on peole etc...lame...very fucking lame..

HAPPY NEW YEAR Y'ALL !!!!!

Attacks from behind a bag are quite cowardly, I agree...

That's not always the case.

I was reminded earlier today of where I got my wild ideas about anonymous communication.

Now, I don't have any legal obligation to protect the right to anon speech for anyone but myself. I do it because I think it's in my own and my progeny's best interest, to coin a familiar, though noxious phrase.

Did you guys do a little doublespeak in your head to handle that one? I did. Constantly. While the rap that would keep me from getting bruised came out of my mouth, the other side replayed in my head.

"Get Out Of Your Head!" Think about that request for just a moment. I had a built in fire alarm that screamed back "No, Mother Fucker, You get out of my head!" (emphasis in the original)

It is one of the most beautiful compensations of life, that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself.

Attacks from behind a bag

(Quoting myself, emphasis on the word "attacks.")
I knew this statement was going to be misconstrued when I wrote it. But I like to say what I'm gonna say without adding this and that and the other thing. ("but it's ok to post anon when blah blah blah") Anon attacks are cowardly. I never said, "All anonymous speech is bullshit." Sheeesh!

I know, Alex. But who should decide what's an attack and what's an honorable use of anon posts?

Tough Love: Abuse of a type particularly enjoyable to the abuser, in that it combines the pleasures of sadism with those of self-righteousness. Commonly employed and widely admired in 12-step groups.

Well, I know what you mean. But sometimes a post is nothing more than name-calling and 'ad hominem' type of crap, y' know? That's a coward, who has to take cheap pot-shots from behind a bag. Who's to decide what homicide is?
