My mother once told me that all morality originates from AA. She was dead serious. There's a story, confirmed by several witnesses including, I think, an impartial journalist about a guy in Straight thanking Group for causing nerve damage so severe that he permanently lost the use of his left arm. He said it saved his life. He was dead serious too.

Yes, group-think is incredibly potent stuff.

What experiences and history teach is this-that people and government never have learned anything from history, or acted on principles deduced from it.

I found an incredibly long and graphic description of the wwasp parent seminars once. The parents are basically subjected to the same kinds of brainwashing as the kids. Except of course in the parents case they use the desire to solve their family problems as leverage whereas with the kids they just withold food or otherwise abuse them.

The couple who wrote the account left the seminar and came back with anti-program literature and of course they pulled their kid out.
