A cold night in January turned to murder
Allen Bennison, 21, of Sanford, was reportedly stabbed to death during a confrontation in the parking lot at the Airport Variety store on Route 109 in South Sanford on Jan. 23.
Later that evening, police arrested Joshua Stewart, 20, and charged him with murder. Stewart allegedly stabbed Bennison while Bennison sat in a truck with Sanford residents Mary Beth Stuart and James Curit. At the time, Mary Beth Stewart was Joshua Stewart's estranged wife.
A grand jury indicted Joshua Stewart on one count of murder in March. In April, Stewart pleaded "not guilty."

Authorities have said drugs played a role in the incident.
Two others, Jonathan Stewart, 24, of Springvale, and Curit, 21, also were charged following the murder. Both are facing counts of felony murder, robbery with a weapon and armed theft as a result of their alleged involvement with Bennison's death. Both pleaded "not guilty" in April.
Joshua and Jonathan Stewart and Curit are all beginning 2008 awaiting trial.
Mary Beth Stewart served a sentence at York County Jail for violating her probation.
The state of Maine should have given these kids a medal. I don't get it. Drug addict and fucking another mans wife, shame on that man.
