Anon, two years huh?  How are you doing, besides the anxiety and nightmares?  Do you get along with your parents?  Are you in school, or working, or ??
Are you able to make friends and trust them?
Please let us know how you're doing, I'm interested.

The Troubled Teen Industry / WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO DAVID VAN BLARIGAN?

Why would they send someone from Tranquility Bay TO Casa?  Doesn't make sense, they always threatened the boys at Casa with being sent to TB.

First thing that comes to mind is that he *always* has an escape plan, no matter where he is or what he's doing.  He never was like that before.  He talks semi-often about things such as "if I had to, I could kill someone".  He always has a knife on him, and a big one by his bed, he didn't have the *need* for that before.  I can't come up behind him and hug him, he still jumps and turns around quickly in a really defensive (and scarey) manner, he certainly didn't do this before.  He takes the longest and hottest showers of anyone I've ever known; guess he's still compensating for those 2 min's of cold water.
How could I forget: he *could NOT* fall asleep after he got out, not without dropping from exhaustion.  His brain would race if he'd lay down. He'd wake up frequently, then not be able to go back to sleep, he'd have horrendous nightmares, reinforcing that he didn't want to go back to sleep.  He's on medication for sleeping now and it's much better.
This is just some of the stuff I could think of quickly after reading your post.  If I think of more, I'll post them later.

I guess my son was one of the lucky ones, hopefully not the ONLY lucky one who didn't get sent elsewhere.  His dad (who put him in there) drove and brought him home when that hellhole closed up.  Within two weeks, he came to live w/me (his mom) across the country from where Dad lives.
It affects him, I see it in different ways, still.  It's been on his mind lately due to the anniversary coming up.
I hope some one, even just one other kid, got to go home.

It's coming up on the one year anniversary of Casa by the Sea being shut down! Anyone from there have anything to say now that they've been free for a year?  I'd love to hear from some of those kids.

Damn that's good!  That same concept should be in effect for the entire US.  If it's possible in New Jersey, it should be possible in other states as well.

Hey, what happened to these guys?  Their website was up and running one day, gone the next. Kind of like the stories and features they had, one day they were there, the next they were gone.  Hmmm....wonder what happened to them?

The Troubled Teen Industry / CAICA.org??
« on: July 25, 2005, 09:10:00 AM »
Hey, what happened to CAICA.org?  They were there, their website has changed often, stories were posted, then disappeared, and now the whole website is gone or down.
Anyone know why??????
Curious minds want to know.......

"Investigative agency"?  Hmm, is this anything like the *kidnappers*, I mean "transport agency" that brings the kids to that place?
Wonder why they didn't just count on the police-in-their-pocket to find the boys?

If your son is doing/did so well in Costa Rica, then why in the world did you pull him from there and send him to Hell, I mean Tranquility Bay?
Am I the only one noting an oxymoron here?  Or maybe just a moron?

The Troubled Teen Industry / Hope Ranch Montana

What I heard, if I remember right, is something about the head guy flipped out and was sending the girls to wilderness or something, where they basically sat in the woods, silent, all the damn day long, for days.  Creepy stuff like that, and I think he also hit some girl or slapped her.  Something about a fight, too.  The teacher was I think, Miss Cheryl?  Does that sound familiar to you?
By the way, were you there?  When?

My neice went to Hope Ranch in Montana and has been back not quite a year.  In fact, when she was at HR, there was a big problem with the head guy there (not exactly sure what happened), but a teacher there left and took some students with her and set up a different "school", I don't remember where.
I'll drop her a line and let her know about this web-site.
My son was sent to Casa by the Sea, but NOT by me.  FYI, I was stunned when I learned about Casa and then learned about 'behavior mod', and found out my sister sent her daughter there on purpose!  I read my sis the riot act, although she stands by what she did.

"Think how the parents feel" would be assuming that this information is actually correct!
The post seems fishy, y'know, like a program person putting major spin and perhaps twisting facts to slam the "helper" (in this case Joyce Harris) instead of finding out why help was needed, i.e. question the program.
Do we really think someone gave someone else's kids airline tickets to a rock/drug concert in another state?  I'm having a hard time believing that, coupled with the way that post was written.
But, as Dennis Miller used to say "that's just my opinon and I could be wrong...."

IMO, this post seems a bit 'reactionary'.  Am I the only one who reads it this way?  :???:

The Troubled Teen Industry / GOOD ARTICLE ON IVY RIDGE!!!!!
« on: June 08, 2005, 11:30:00 AM »
Interesting article and interesting comments from those who run it!  Particularly,
"with the expulsions, the school had shed its most troublesome residents."
Pardon me, but doesn't this place advertise itself as a means to help "troublesome" kids?  But they "shed" the troublesome residents?
And what about the kids picked at the end of the article to answer questions?  The *school* picked 4 and the report picked 2.  The only *problem* with this is, all the kids were in a room together, no one was interviewed alone.  Not only that, but as everyone here already knows, those kids will suffer if they told the truth.  I mean, c'mon, the last kid, there only a few days, made their 'statement' without eye contact with the interviewer and made some 'program-like' comment.
Hopefully, though, this article will help.
