The Troubled Teen Industry / Interesting observation about HR911
« on: January 05, 2011, 12:18:01 AM »
Not that it means much now, but I noticed that the congress folks who got the most money from their supporters are like Boehner and this Cantor character from my state. WoW, and they both voted NO for HR911. I'm tellin ya, as long as Boehner is in Congress, and his buddy Cantor has anything to do with anything, I think any kind of bill like HR911 is likely to fail. I'd like to see the Romney connection all the way around, cuz he's tight with that Lichfield character.  :deal:

As I was going over the far famed Kerry mountains
I met with captain Farrell and his money he was counting.
I first produced my pistol, and then produced my rapier.
Said stand and deliver, for I am a bold deceiver,

musha ring dumma do damma da
whack for the daddy 'ol
whack for the daddy 'ol
there's whiskey in the jar

I counted out his money, and it made a pretty penny.
I put it in my pocket and I took it home to Jenny.
She said and she swore, that she never would deceive me,
but the devil take the women, for they never can be easy

I went into my chamber, all for to take a slumber,
I dreamt of gold and jewels and for sure it was no wonder.
But Jenny took my charges and she filled them up with water,
Then sent for captain Farrel to be ready for the slaughter.

It was early in the morning, as I rose up for travel,
The guards were all around me and likewise captain Farrel.
I first produced my pistol, for she stole away my rapier,
But I couldn't shoot the water so a prisoner I was taken.

If anyone can aid me, it's my brother in the army,
If I can find his station down in Cork or in Killarney.
And if he'll come and save me, we'll go roving near Kilkenny,
And I swear he'll treat me better than me darling sportling Jenny

Now some men take delight in the drinking and the roving,
But others take delight in the gambling and the smoking.
But I take delight in the juice of the barley,
And courting pretty fair maids in the morning bright and early

Background: Great pub sing-a-long about a man who robs Captain Farrell on the road. He brings the money home and shows it to his love, Jenny. Then while he's sleeping, his love takes his money and tells Captain Farrell where to find him. Metallica covered it in 1999 based on a version by Thin Lizzy.

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / Nissley in Indiana...?
« on: September 19, 2010, 10:12:15 PM »
This:

"Dear Pat (my Patrish) and family, my thoughts and prayers have been with you for months now. You have honored your mother and father and so gracefully supported them in his passing. He was surrounded by all those that he loved and that loved him. You have cherished memories of your dad that will remain with you. And, you know you will all be re-united one day in Heaven. Love, Terri Nissley"

comes from this:

Doesn't mean she's physically in Indy, but the date is fairly recent and the memorial was there in Ohio, who knows...

Just a thought here... If you FL folks could get some signs made up really quick, I think there's a heavy media presence in Gainesville right now. Might be a good way to spread some Survivor Cheer throughout the world   :blabla:

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / Sembler mystery
« on: July 04, 2010, 11:24:34 AM »
I've heard, read and whatnot that the Survivor activism led to Sembler's ambassadorship demise. However, Mel was involved in some deep shit at the time and I'm wondering if he was dismissed for other reasons. Here's a comment I found on a blog somewhere deep in cyberspace, lol:

"Newsweek
has an interesting article that brings up the fact Karl Rove took out a $100,000
line of credit right after his last appearance before the grand jury. It also
talks about the $5 million trust set up for the Libby defense. On the board of
this trust is some major Republican fund raisers but none is more interesting
than Melvin Sembler.

If you are not familiar with Sembler, he was our ambassador to Italy. What
makes it more interesting is the fact he was our Italian ambassador at the time
of the forged uranium documents that alleged Saddam was trying to obtain yellow
cake from Niger. In other words, the documents that caused this entire mess.

The article also talks about Rove's involvement in at least one White House
meeting that resulted in Patton Boggs gaining a large client. Robert Luskin,
Rove's attorney in the leak case, is a partner of Patton Boggs. The White House
wouldn't comment on any possible ethics violations of Rove's attorney getting
these contracts but it does seem a little fishy."

The Troubled Teen Industry / STOP HR911 Already
« on: July 03, 2010, 02:44:09 PM »
Yep, give it up folks, HR911  :bs: , it's a bad idea that's only getting worse with the BP oil spill and the economy. Fess up, it's doomed. I don't understand how survivors think this bill is a good idea, but whatever. To each their own.  ::poke::
