Adjudicated children attend/have attended Ridge Creek School whether from other states or from Georgia DJJ.  Violent children and behaviorally inappropriate students are admitted to Ridge Creek School.  Period. According to parents, this fact has not been disclosed and keeps getting rebuffed, but it's over.

Bosticks letter states:

"Ridge Creek, Inc.- has an Outdoor Child Caring Program (OCCP) The last license review of this program was conducted on 8/25/2009 and there were no children in placement at the time of this review. The next review is due before 8/30/2010."

Both ORS reports for 2009 and 2010 state that Ridge Creek Wilderness(RCW) had no activity/no students at Ridge Creek Wilderness during the ORS re-licensing visits.  RCS states there were no DJJ children at RCS or RCW.  Then RCS has a change of heart and RCS states there were DJJ children, but not at RCS, at Ridge Creek Wilderness(RCW), of which RCS stated to the ORS, RCW was not operational at the time.  Confused?  There appears to be a huge discrepancy and more than a few staff talking out of the side of their mouth.  The 2011 reports are coming.

Somehow, a DJJ staff member voiced an opinion that it  is "generally accepted now that a teen residential treatment facility will have adjudicated children, so the parents of non-adjudicated children attending the school shouldn't have a problem with it." Response, "really?"  Thought, "hmm, why don't you ask the parents."

Bosticks letter intentionally avoided answering the questions and if he did his job, there would have been a lot less rapes, attempted suicides, medication mismanagement,assaults,battery,and the list goes on.  More is coming.

Bottom line ... they've been caught.

RCS - "We don't admit violent or adjudicated children."

This is in the public domain otherwise it would not be posted.  This needs to be stopped for the adjudicated children as well.  RCS does not have staff capable of helping these children.  On the administrative end, they cannot tell the truth, fine mentors.

LEE COUNTY: A 69-year-old woman fought back and won when a teen tried to steal her purse in the parking lot of a local shopping center on Saturday, reports said.
Deputies say Marie McBride was walking in the parking lot of the Kmart on McGregor Boulevard when someone approached her from behind.
"I heard someone coming up behind me and he placed his hands on my shoulders," McBride said.
The suspect, later identified as 17-year old Alex Dessak, grabbed at McBride's purse. The two fought over the purse and Dessak fell when the strap of the purse broke, reports said.
"He was pulling with all he had, and I wouldn't let go of it," said McBride. "I didn't want to loose that purse."
Dessak then ran and got into the passenger side of a green Mustang convertible. The car then drove off, deputies said.
Around 12:30 a.m. the following morning, deputies pulled over a black Jeep on a traffic stop. One of the occupants matched the description of the purse snatching suspect, reports said.
Dessak and his passenger were both taken into custody. Dessak did not speak to deputies about the incident.
Dessak was arrested and charged with robbery without a weapon and battery on a person 65-years of age or older.
"Maybe it wasn't the right decision, but that was my first instinct and it worked out so I'm thankful," said McBride.

More conflicting information regarding Ridge Creek Wilderness.  The  ORS surveyor on 07/12-2010 does not report Ridge Creek Wilderness permanently ceased operations, the surveyor just states that they received an email from RC director stating they did not expect any students until next spring.

The purpose of this survey is to follow up on the status of this agency/ to conduct the
re-licensure study.
T 9999 Closing Comments.
An e-mail was received on July 12, 2010 from the Director of the facility stating that they don ' t
have any placement activity at this moment and it is unlikely for the facility to have any placement
until next spring. The Director agreed to inform the Surveyor when the facility has placement
activity.

News on the beat ...  along with intervention from the ORS/ORCC, citations and fines have been implemented.   Ridge Creek Wilderness,"The Chalet", a "tavern" is no longer to be used for behavior modification and intervention, since the 6-6-2010 incident report.  Whether Ridge Creek Wilderness continues off the radar remains to seen, one can only hope RCS/RCW stays on the recommended path.

Family Light Tom Croke's Ed Con web-site announced Ridge Creek Wilderness was dropped, but neglected to say why.

If one is going to put their reputation on the line, one should investigate the school they are recommending.  It is not enough to add a disclaimer.  The family pays you a fee to do your homework and expects it to be done ethically.

Ridge Creek has  settled into a new identity and focus.  Historically, it was  a wilderness program.  In 2009, it expanded into a therapeutic "College Prep [School] with a Wilderness Twist."  Since then, the wilderness program has been dropped, and the therapeutic boarding school well establishcd.   Ridge Creek School, took over the buildings of a former school  historically located near it.  However in the fall of 2011, those buildings will become the site of newly founded boarding and day school that will not have therapeutic content.  Ridge Creek will return to the nearby buildings that are mostly unussd at the time this is written.

Room, Board, and Watchful Oversight Plan and in accordance with the prohibitions as specified
in the rules and regulations.
Findings Include
Interview with Resident #2 was conducted on 6/2820/2010 at 3:15 pm. Resident #2 said he/she
doesn't remember what happened during the incident, but he/she knows that he/she was in a
fight. When asked if he/she received a consequence for fighting, Resident #2 indicated that staff
sent him/her to the wilderness intervention program for 8 days.Review on 6/28/2010 at 4:00 pm of Resident #2's Individual Service Plan, dated 10/30/2009, did
not reveal that the wilderness intervention program would be used as a behavioral management
method.
Interview with Resident #4 was conducted on 6/28/2010 at 3:25 pm. When asked if he/she
received a consequence for involvement with the physical altercation, Resident #4 said first staff
spoke with him/her then he/she was sent to the wilderness intervention program for 8 days.Resident #4 reported that the wilderness program is not on campus. It consists of a tavern and
the residents sleep on wooden boards.Review on 6/28/2010 at 4:00 pm of Resident #4's Individual Service Plan, dated 2/11/10, did not
reveal that the wilderness intervention program would be used as a behavioral management
method.
Interview with Resident #3 was conducted on 6/28/2010 at 3:29 pm. Resident #3 stated that on
6/10/2010, Resident #5 came to him/her and said he/she was afraid that Resident #1 would kill
him/her. Resident #3 said later that night he/she and Resident #2 asked Resident #1 why was
he/she threatening Resident #5. Resident #3 said he/she was in Resident #4's room when he/she
heard a crash and screaming. Resident #3 said he/she saw Resident #1 run by the room.
Resident #3 said someone said that Resident #1 just broke a window and was trying to attack

Resident #2. Resident #3 said Resident #2 is one of his/her best friends and he/she thought about
Resident #1's problems and remembered Resident #1 threatened others. Resident #3 said he/she
was afraid that Resident #1 would injure Resident #2. Resident #1 said he/she was thinking that
Resident #1 had a piece of glass from the broken window. Resident #3 then admitted that he/she
pushed Resident #1 away from Resident #2 and Resident #1 turned around and hit him/her.
Resident #3 said he/she got angry and hit Resident #1 multiple timesDuring interview with Staff D on 6/28/2010 at 3:46 pm, Surveyor asked about the wilderness
intervention program. Staff D reported that wilderness intervention is used as a behavior
management technique.. Resident #3 said he/she
was sent to the wilderness intervention program and slept on a flat sheet of wood. Resident #3
said he/she was in the wilderness intervention program for 1 week.Review on 6/28/2010 at 4:00 pm of Resident #3's Individualized Service Plan, dated 4/1/2010, did
not reveal that the wilderness intervention program would be utilized as a behavioral
management method.
Review on 6/28/2010 at 5:00 pm of the agency's Wilderness Intervention Curriculum, revealed a
form labeled "Odds and Ends". This form states the following: "Students are responsible for
maintaining their gear, equipment, and personal hygiene. If students break, lose, or do not
maintain equipment--they may have to do without (Stay within policies and procedures, and
safety). Keep wilderness student off main campus. No student is allowed in the shelter until
completion of Solo." This form also indicates that tents are utilized.
Review on 6/28/2010 at 5:00 pm of the agency's Wilderness Initiative Daily Schedule, revealed
examples of rewards given to residents which includes: extra sleeping pad, pillows. The
schedule dated May 3, 2010 indicates the following: "solo starts at 9:00 pm, students can only
communicate with staff, journal about life goals, and objectives."

An exit conference was conducted onsite. There was one rule violation related to self reported
incident #GA00083346. There were four rule violations found during the investigation. The
preliminary report was mailed on 7/12/2010. The plan of correction is due ten days after the
receipt of this report.

Child Abuse and Neglect contact DFCS/DHR/ORCC Georgia- They wrote the reports, so it won't do any good.

The 6-6-2010 incident taken from several ORCC reports where a child stated that the sexual activity was an "unwelcome encounter."

" (2) Record review on September 1, 2010 of Incident Report dated 06-06-10 for Resident #11
revealed Resident #11 along with 6 other females disclosed to staff an incident involving sexual
activity between Resident #11 and an older male resident. It was documented that Resident #11
appeared upset and stated that what occurred between herself (R11) and the male resident was
an unwelcome encounter."

Reference to this incident is made througout other monthly reports available on Fornits where this incident is elaborated upon.

While cross referencing the ORCC reports and the police calls, apparently another incident, sexual in nature, appears to have occurred on 10/22/2010 where according to LCSO, 3 units dispatched, "would like to press charges" and "the female needs to have an exam done."  

Reference to this incident is found on FB  "RIDGE CREEK" where reference is made to the young girl's age and the arrest of the perp (no confirmation of age or arrest, only intent to press charges).   Alarming is the callousness and lack of humanity displayed, indicative of the caliber of residents in the asylum.

According to the ORCC the young man they are referring to that tried to commit suicide, is in the ORCC report 01/13/2011.

Dear Parents and Consultants:

As you know, Hidden Lake Academy (“HLA”) began operating under the radar of the Office of Regulatory Services since 1994.  However, HLA continues to provide an oblique approach in working with adolescents experiencing normal teen-age emotional and behavioral issues. HLA continually strives to provide its students with inferior academics and unlicensed counselors in a deliciously devious, deprived environment. During the last three years, HLA faced a well-founded legal attack on its ability to continue its disastrous mission. The litigation alleged various contractual related claims along with claims of negligence, fraud, fraudulent advertising, uncertified teachers and unlicensed counselors, which happened to be true. As a result of this litigation, HLA incurred substantial legal fees not covered by insurance and our infamous Chapel Fund was already plundered, so of no use. During the litigation, student enrollment declined because HLA’s referral base faced voluminous discovery requests and our referral base was terrified of being sued.  This caused the referral base to incur legal fees and reduced their willingness to accompany us to the slaughterhouse. During this difficult time, HLA again fell short of maintaining its already nominal, dysfunctional educational, counseling, and therapeutic services. The good news for us was the plaintiff’s attorneys bailed and we reached a menial agreement resolving the litigation.   Additionally, HLA has re-established itself with its referral base, which is once again, solidly supportive of the perks we send their way.  We wish to assure you that HLA continues its sleight of hand through challenging financial situations caused by both the financial burden of the litigation and from years of pillaging families and the school. At this time, HLA worked diligently to resolve many of the financial burdens that resulted from the litigation and our less than prompt payment of federal, state, and local taxes throughout the years.  In addition, we can no longer deduct uniforms and supplies, which parents pay for, as the IRS was not thrilled with it.  Although HLA has been unable to resolve issues with one of its lenders, we have blindsided our vendors and lenders by taking a proactive approach to resolve its issues by filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection to reorganize its affairs.  For those of you that choose to live this kind of life, Chapter 11 can be utilized to the hilt.   HLA will continue to operate both during and after the reorganization process. HLA will continue to provide subpar educational, clinical, and therapeutic services on an as needed basis (to be determined by our interns) to its students. HLA is engaging in ongoing negotiations with potential lenders and is confident in its ability to address its financial issue with your help.  We have decided to build a cathedral and will shortly be hosting “A Night at The Cathedral” to raise funds for “The Cathedral.” Please check your email for an invitation. I know that each of you remains concerned about your child’s education and well-being. Let me take this opportunity to reassure each parent that everyone at HLA remains fully committed to continuing to provide the same inferior academic, counseling and therapeutic services to its students it has since 1994.  The only difference is that we were caught with our pants down and licensure was forced by the ORS.  Our commitment is and will remain steadfast to unleash several more schools on our land, which can address any further emotional and behavioral aberrations that you find abhorrent in your child’s character. I would like to personally thank each of you for your blind support as our insanity continues to thrive. I am sure that this process will evoke many assaults and a few riots here and there, and with the planned influx of students from the Department of Juvenile Justice, rest assured HLA children will thrive on the streets when they graduate.
