does this mean that Carey's appeal is now filed, but she still has to go before the court?

You can file an appeal, it has to be granted, then heard, and yes, she will have to appear.  Although, I question why a "motion for a new trial" wasn't filed, or is that just for criminal cases?

What Carey filed is a motion to overturn the default judgment.  Sue is the one who has to request a new case.

Thanks Psy, it didn't sound right to me to begin with.  That would make sense to do that first.  Civ.Lit. is really not my cup of tea.

Didn't Sue Scheff's blog indicate she had to secure a 2nd lien against her home to pay for this lawsuit against Bock?
Wouldn't a lien show up on public tax records?

Title: Scheff blogs away
Post by: Anonymous on September 01, 2007, 07:30:42 PM
Carey Bock's appeal was filed on August 22, 2007.

Sue Scheff wrote another blog on August 31, 2007; YET Scheff fails to mention that Carey Bock has filed an appeal.

Scheff makes accusations of more slander?
Please, Ms. Scheff.  Is this not a bit much?

With this unprecedented jury verdict (not a default verdict) of $11.3M - comes more slander!

If you are reading ugly and malicious information about me, you can understand why. The defendant - Carey Bock - who attempted to get the judgement set aside - was denied with a strong order set down by the Judge.

She is being held liable for the defamation and invasion of privacy she created to myself and my family.

I have also received a mass amount of media attention from prominent news outlets such as 20/20 ABC News i-Caught, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Forbes and more.

All these reputable journalist did their due diligence on my case.

Freedom of speech is here to stay - Defamation is not acceptable.

???????????????????????????????????????????

Are there some zeros missing from these figures?
Is this a piece of rental property she owns?
I had the impression she lived in a posh mansion type home, in a private, gated community. I would imagine such a place in the state of Florida would be valued at several times this; at least twice as much, and maybe four times as much. It must be VERY small. . . No land at all. . .

Can anyone goggle map this address? Lets take a look. . .

Westin has modest areas when it started.  homes by Centex did not go
for that much money.

It's there.  If someone can fix the link, great but it'll take you to it.  Its typical of a lot of FL subdivisions.  Nothing great, definitely NOT mansion, or even close.  I've been through Weston numerous times on my way to Ft. Lauderdale and Miami.  Dinky little deed restricted communities, cookie cutter houses.

Edited to add:  It looks like she lives on a man-made drainage ditch or overflow retention pond.

If Sue-Sue's little 2 minute commercial for Reputation Defenders on 20/20 was filmed inside her Florida home; and assume it was, since she was taking that stroll down the beach, then her little apartment looking kitchen looked as if it might be in dire need of some upgrades. That kitchen seemed to have a bit of the worn, tacky, apartment, look to it, IMO.
Didn't seem to reflect the "trust fund baby" persona talked about in connection to Sue-Sue at all.

Interesting. Has anyone done any other searches to see if she owns property elsewhere?

Appearing modest on 20/20?  Interesting approach.

Can someone be kind, and link 20/20s video here?  Thanks in advance.
