Bless Steve Rock!!! What a champion he has been for the children and families of Thayer victims.

However, did you "read between the lines" of his story.

Now pressure must be brought to bear on Prosecuter Jason Kanoy! Reading a quote from Steve's story, it sounds like he doesn't want to do anything about the report from the State of Roberto's death.

How do the rest of you see this?

Except from Steve's story:

"It was presented last week to Caldwell County Prosecutor Jason Kanoy, who has jurisdiction over whether charges will be filed in the death. On Wednesday, Kanoy released the report to The Star and said he hadn't decided whether he would take any action.

?There are some alarming parts about it,? he said. ?But I have not made a decision as to who I would file charges on or if I will file charges at all."

I have to admit I too am stunned... as soon as Ginger gave Thayer a dedicated site, everyone disappeared.  The Bundy's must be thrilled; hell, no wonder people like that win at terrorizing our children.

Two of the saddest words in the English language are ignorance and apathy. Apparently it has reached epidemic proportions here.

That is an outrage! It is, at the worst, petty theft and punishable in a court of law. If a parent could trace a missing item to eBay and report it to the authorities it would be another nail in the coffin of Thayer.

Yes, I realize filing charges against Thayer in Caldwell County would be extremely difficult, but maybe those parents who saved their children could band together to claim lost, missing and or stolen property.

Contact Pia, she can tell you how it can be done.

I made an unsolicited donation to ISAC because I wanted to and I don't give a damn how Shelby spent the money.  I hope she used a bit of it and bought a decent bottle of wine to celebrate saving another child or uncovering another deceit.

Shelby sent me a wonderful thank you note which was not necessary, but appreciated. I plan on sending ISAC more money and still don't care how or where they spend it.

If ISAC made 1/100 of what one WWASP facility made a week she could retire to the Caribbean!

This article was published by Steve Rock of the Kansas City Star yesterday.

Typical of WWASP, move the staff and inmates of those facilities under fire and change the name. If it gets too hot for the Bundy's will they just move the kids from Kidder, MO to Boonville, MO.

Why hasn't the State of Missouri learned it's lesson with the death of Roberto Reyes at Thayer. Now they are inviting WWASP in to their state to continue their enslavement and torture of children.  Heaven help us.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The founder of a controversial Utah-based association of boarding schools has had discussions with city officials in Boonville, Mo., about purchasing Kemper Military School.

Kemper, the oldest military academy west of the Mississippi River when it closed in 2002, has been owned by the city since April 2003.

"I would not characterize this as an offer," said Ned Beach, president of the city's Industrial Development Authority. "But we're talking, and that's exciting."

The prospective buyer is Robert Lichfield, founder of the World Wide Association of Specialty Programs and Schools. The association, based in St. George, Utah, provides services and guidance for a network of seven schools in the United States and Jamaica.

Some schools affiliated with the organization have been the subject of abuse allegations, and one U.S. congressman asked the Department of Justice to investigate the association and its schools.

Kemper, if purchased by Lichfield, would not be a member of the association's network. Instead, it would be subleased to Randall Hinton, who said he would help operate the school independently.

"We won't have any affiliation with WWASPS or anybody else," Hinton said.

Hinton, 30, would be part of the Kemper management team. He said he previously worked at homes for children, including some in the WWASPS network.

His vision for Kemper, he said, includes maintaining the name and the military theme. Uniformed students between 13 and 18 would receive an education while adhering to a regimented schedule.

At this point, though, he's not even sure Lichfield will make an offer.

"The buildings are severely damaged," Hinton said. "We've been going through just to see what it's going to cost to make it livable again."

Lichfield could not be reached for comment.

Though no money has changed hands, some members of Boonville's Industrial Development Authority are excited at the prospect of seeing Kemper up and running. The city purchased the school at auction for about $525,000 in April 2003 with the hope that one day the historic seven buildings would again be a vital component of Boonville.

Other groups have previously expressed interest, but nothing has panned out. Beach said there are two other "interested parties," but stressed that neither is as far along as the Lichfield group.

Rick Ball, a member of the authority, said Wednesday he had not spoken with Lichfield and did not know much about him.

WWASPS-affiliated schools have been the subject of abuse allegations, according to reports in newspapers such as The New York Times, and the association has been named as a defendant in several lawsuits. One school, Casa by the Sea, in Mexico, was shut down by Mexican authorities in September. Another, Majestic Ranch, in Utah, was the subject of a state investigation that resulted in a misdemeanor assault conviction last year.

The abuse allegations prompted George Miller, a U.S. congressman from California, to ask then-attorney general John Ashcroft to investigate the association.

In a November 2003 letter to Ashcroft, Miller wrote: "There have been serious allegations that hundreds of children have been mistreated or neglected. ... We believe that the Department of Justice should investigate whether federal laws concerning child abuse and neglect, interstate commerce or unfair or deceptive advertising have been broken by WWASPS or those operating these facilities."

Ken Kay, president of WWASPS, said Thursday that the first priority of the association and its schools is "the safety and well-being of the children." Since the association was founded in 1997, he said, more than 15,000 families have sent children to member schools. There have been only about 10 lawsuits in which the association was named as a defendant, he said, and nearly all of those were either dismissed or thrown out.

The Justice Department declined Miller's request to investigate, saying its authority did not extend to facilities outside the United States or those that were privately run.

Beach said city officials had done their due diligence on Lichfield and his group but found no reason to terminate talks.

The group would be subject to an additional round of scrutiny, city officials said, if it presented the city with a formal offer.

"We're not going to move quickly on this," said Steve Tillman, a member of the authority.

"It will definitely be debated in an open, public forum."

I just hope other people consider what could happen to their children after they have been "treated" at these facilities.

Sadly, this young man apparently was not able to escape the nightmares while alive.

What still astonishes me is that his family posted that he attended "PCS" as if it were something to be celebrated, akin to if he had graduated from an Ivy League University. The mention of PCS is what caught my eye initally.

I posted his obituary in the event he had people who still cared about him and might be looking for him.

I have thought that perhaps one way to gain access to TLC would be to drive an 18-wheeler with a large "cattle grate" on the front, up the stairs through the front door at about 60 mph.

Load all the kids in the back of the truck and head for the state line!  Well, I can dream can't I? Of course, the Bundy's would probably be all upset and want to file charges against me for destruction of personal property, etc... probably throw in kidnapping. But what the heck, it would be a helluva entrance.

Ginger's idea is best... get a job there. If you have an IQ higher than your shoe size you qualify; or you could request a visit stating you have a child you wish to enroll?

Ginger said not to feed the trolls, but MY GAWD - there are two of them.

This board saved my sanity when my family member was incarcerated in Thayer. Not having any rights to his life, I was desperate to learn anything and everything I could about this snake pit and sadly found out just how naive I was when I uncovered much more than I ever wanted to learn.

Each day, every time I turned over another rock, another snake crawled out.... I found a billion dollar business dealing with the "enslavement of children" -  right here in the good ole' USA - (although there are many facilities located outside the USA too) most of them are run by those swell folks up in St. George, Utah!

But I found hope here and so do many other people; so take your vitriolic bile and your rhetoric WWASP thought stream and just go away. We want to be here, I need to be here and it is apparent since you already know everything- there is no need for you to waste your time on this thread.

The lawsuit has been filed and will now find its way through the grinding wheels of justice. You can be sure when a trial date is set, and/or any preliminary hearings scheduled, that it will be posted on this site.

There are too many of us out here that want to be in court to see justice finally being served for young Roberto.

Pia ... Sign in with your screen name so we can send you Private Messages - you keep logging on as anonymous.

But keep writing girl... keep writing.  We must keep this thread open for others to find.

As for Cruella - she sounds like someone else we know who is/was in denial. When the facts are smacking you in the face; when the whole world is telling you "listen to your heart, your gut", be prudent in your decisions because all those other people are just crazy and disgruntled - then there is nothing you can do or say if they are that bloody stubborn.

You fight the fights you can win and we will always lose some, but look at how many were saved and that we will save in the future.

Their children will hopefully "escape" from that dungeon and perhaps they might find this bulletin board. If they have a 4th grade education they can read and they will see that information regarding the truth about Thayer- with facts and witnesses - was available to their parents/guardians and it wasn't heeded.

What a pathetic commentary on those parents who cut and run, and how very sad for their children to know that they were not a priority to the people who should love them the most.

Tim:
Consider the source - the person who wrote the lewd comment did not have the nerve to sign their name???

You are the hope of these children; some one with the IQ of room temperature certainly doesn't define who you are or what you do. Besides, we all know who it is - don't we?

Without you, Pia, Julia, et. al. these children wouldn't have a safe place to fall. Don't give up on them.

Tim - If the kids are hesitant to contact you maybe they can go through Julia who can assure them you are our Knight in Shining Armour.

If still hesitant, they could contact Steve Rock at the Kansas City Star; or ISAC.

I wish more parents would be responsive to helping those left behind.  I'm stunned at the sudden silence of our site as soon as it became dedicated.

Antigen set it up so those trying to learn about this dungeon would locate this board if they entered Thayer into Google or other search engines.  WE need to keep it current, active and alive.

While you are both dueling, would you also happen to know anyone who escaped or was rescued from Thayer?  Any information that can help a grieving and concerned family member of a child incarcerated in Thayer? Know of a way we can help that family member?  That child?

That is what I come to this forum to learn - not the size, ability or lack of.... any physical information regarding someone 99% of us don't know.

Perhaps you could ask Ginger/Antigen to set up a separate forum for you all to go to where you can list, describe and expose???? all these descriptive and lurid issues about objectionable anatomy of those you love to hate.  I applaud your desire to vent and will defend your freedom and desire to do so; however, for family members such as myself who live for a word of hope on these threads I really don't care if Chance has a less than perfect appendage.

It is just my opinion, and I could be wrong.

I don't know, but his age was stated at 19 which means his tenure at Provo could not have been long ago.

I did not know the boy, but thought I would post it on the chance he had some friends from Provo who would like to know what happened.

To lose a child is tragic; to lose a child who was incarcerated in a WWASP dungeon is criminal.

May his journey with the angels be sweeter than his hell at Provo.

The following obituary was published in the Stuart (Florida) News today.  I thought it incrediby sad that the person who wrote the obituary for Jack Johnson proudly listed that he was a graduate of Provo Canyon School.

For those of you who knew him, my condolences. Sadly, there was no mention of how he died.

The following is what was printed.

"Jack S. Johnson, 19, died March 6,2005 at his home.

He was born in New York City and lived here for the past two years, coming from Katonah, N.Y.

He was a graduate of Provo Canyon School in Utah and a student at Indian River Community College. He enjoyed football and his friends.

Survivors included his mother, Teddy Wainwright of Stuart; father Richard Johnson of New York City, brother, Whitney Rutherfurd of Hyde Park, Vt; and sister Annan Rutherfurd of Wheelock, Vt.

Services: Visitations will be from 2 to 3 pm March 10, followed by a celebration of his life in the chapel of Martin Funeral Home & Crematory, Stuart. The Reverend L. C. Campbell, Jr. will officiate."
