Title: Remember the Toilet seat ?
Post by: Anonymous on May 03, 2004, 08:33:00 PM
I  remember early on, when the group came down on some one that they would have to wear a toilet seat around their neck. i beleive
it was at the St Andrews house.  I don't seem to remember this going on when i got to SR84 in march of 1973

It wasn't going on in The St Pete Seed either. What we need are more stories about this. How was it utilized? under what conditions?

what other humiliation tactics were used in the house? How about other punishments? Come down on sessions?

Help us understand here...

GregFL,
Greg, you know the reasons, slipping,
having a free will,  talking back., lying , trying to escape.

Richard, I really want to hear more. This is very important for my research.

You see, Art Barker did NOT invent the Toilet Seat punishment, it came from The Synanon. I have been trying to link Art to the synanon or a synanon derivitive program for some time.

Check this out....

"Fifty-three years old with a thinning crew cut and a vocabulary brimming with buzzwords from the Big Book of AA, Pat knows all about ?program sobriety.? He checked into his first rehab in 1972 after returning from Viet Nam hooked on speed, opium and pot. He got clean nine years and a few more rehabs later in a VA program modeled after Synanon, a cultish ?therapeutic commune? run out of a seaside hotel in Santa Monica that advocated a brand of ?attack therapy? that used equal parts of hippie love and harsh ridicule to break through addicts? defenses. He remembers nights scrubbing the floors with a toothbrush and days wearing a toilet seat around his neck. ?That?s because I was full of shit,? while being come down upon heavily by a large group at andrews ave seed in late '71 ,i think,i was subjected to a sort of variation of the toilet seat approach in that i was forced to be seated on a toilet itself ,on top of a scaffold, for having been caught with da dreaded weed. at the same time, i was shorn of my rather long hair down to stubble while enduring extremly physically threatening group verbal abuse. damn back to the benches.in the dirt and the sore back and the frustration. they didnt save me from anything.

I probaly saw you sitting there back in '71
I  certainly remember the pain of getting several years of hair sheared off, and feeling
exiled. I ended up really getting the full brunt of the seed on SR84 1973 , . On andrews the seed still had some leway.  But  I do remember people with the seat from the earliest days.
