I haven't had time to contribute much to this board lately, but still stop by occasionally to try and catch up on the posts. I'll be signing off for a while due to big changes and obligations in the next few months. Thanks to the keepers of this board, it has been a great resource for me and I hope for others. Has nothing to do with Straight. I studied Russian language and have always been into astronomy, hence the name "kosmonaut".
Plus my preferred way to go would be strapped to a 2 stage rocket and blasted into outer space. But I could never afford that anyway. :rofl:

worth of worms right now. The Arab world is seething with hatred for us because of this invasion. A little history, approx. 200 yrs worth, shows that they have every right to be pissed off at the West, specifically Britian and the US.
Oh, and it doesn't help that Bush used the word "crusade" last year in a speech about the middle east.

It is amazing to me that people here survived Straight and the various ensuing bullshit that came after, and are now here posting and reconnecting, arguing, making up, spewing emotion, making jokes, etc.
For me, this board is it. There is no one else to remember with.

Hey Morli, I know how it feels even though my situation is a little different. The whole time I was in Straight my stepmother was using drugs. My dad had quit several years before, but she was still using in our home. When I say drugs I specifically mean methamphetamine. I found out about this years later. The denial and hypocrisy in our family runs deep to this day. I've given up on trying to be a part of it, otherwise I would have a breakdown just getting involved in anything more than a casual long-distance relationship.
My suggestion is that you try and let it go, just let her go... walk away from it. At her age she isn't going to admit her wrongdoing. And she obviously isn't concerned with how you should be dealing with all of this.

My gf is sympathetic but really doesn't seem to understand what it was like. Whenever I bring the subject up I can see that look in her eyes... "oh no he's talking about it again" so I rarely discuss it. I find most people have that reaction. I'm not close with my family, although we keep in touch, and haven't talked about Straight with them in probably 18 years.
Thank god for these forums and the other sites!

Whenever I read a post like this by someone who just found out about the growing online community of ex-Straight people, it's difficult to respond because words can't convey the hell we all know so intimately. All I can say is I'm glad you found this place and I look forward to hearing more from you.
