Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / here's something funny
« on: July 25, 2002, 02:40:00 PM »
While I was in Straight, my stepmom was a speed freak!  That's right, she even came with my dad on parent night a few times, tweaking her little heart out!  haha....  I found out later from my brother.

So while I was wasting away being 15 yrs old in Straight, my stepmom was enjoying full freedom at home, snorting lines, smoking weed, and generally enjoying herself.

And she doesn't understand why I didn't talk to her for 6 years after that.

I love this forum and I hope it's ok that I post here quite a bit.  I know I tend to talk a lot about the Atlanta facility.  Is that OK?  I wouldn't want to step on anyone's toes or be a forum hog.  It's just that this is the only place in the entire world where people actually know what happened and come to share memories.

Anyone else remember Miles Nieberline (sp?)?  I recall him telling a story about how he downed some strychnine in an experiment on himself and ended up in a hospital.  He was truly a character.

What about Dennis, the guy who stabbed someone in group to get out of Straight?  He ended up in the YDC down the road from the program.  My brother worked there and told me about it later (another story).

Also, there was a staff member, female, with long brown hair in 83-84 whose name I can't remember.  Really high strung person, mean in fact, used to talk about shooting up speed and stuff.

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / copping out
« on: July 18, 2002, 03:44:00 PM »
The night I made 2nd phase I went back home for the first time in 6 months.  Lucky for me, my parents hadn't installed the locks on the windows and doors like they were supposed to.  I sat up until the wee hours of the morning, pondering what to do.  Escape was always my greatest desire, but I had also put them through enough hell already and didn't relish doing it more.

I made my decision and wrote a note explaining why I had to leave and apologizing for running away.  I went out the backdoor into the night.  It was springtime, warm and humid and the stars were out.  I walked 3 or so miles to my old girlfriend's house, and woke her up by tossing pebbles on her window.  She came outside.  What a great feeling!

I was in 6 mos. in 1983, 1st phase the whole time.  Copped out and ran away.  Anyone else in during that period?
