The Troubled Teen Industry / to apply or not?
« on: January 01, 2008, 01:26:03 PM »
While I must admit that the spelling and grammatical errors forced upon us as readers of this site borders on torture in & of itself, that truly gives us no call to pick on the less fortunate who have had say, a pACE education or worse.  Let's give 'em a break, shall we?

Just a tip, I often consult www.dictionary.com when looking for the correct spelling of a word, and that too is free.

He's talking about being a sneaky snoop instead of teaching the child how to make decisions.

You totally missed that.

Ah, well now that I've reread it, I do believe you're quite right & I missed that.

Monitoring the actions of one's children is better than ignoring them and leaving them to their own devices.

Nothing wrong with being a participant in the child's life, openly.

The Troubled Teen Industry / What do protests actually accomplish?

I'd say a sawed-off shotgun can be pretty damned reasonable under some circumstances. I don't have a problem with someone killing off programmies as a means of protest.

AND- sometimes negative attention is better than NO ATTENTION AT ALL.

Allright, Sonny, you aren't allowed to protest anywhere north of the Mason Dixon line.  You'll frighten the Yankees.

When protesting in the South, do try to remain calm lest the locals shoot YOU first & ask questions later.  THAT would seem pretty damn reasonable to them, I daresay.

Congratulations on the diploma PSY!!  That's AWESOME news.

As for your quest for assistance in editing...if I hear of anyone that knows how to do that kind of stuff, you'll be the first to know.

I'm having a time loading my Christmas gift (Ipod shuffle...) so, yeah, I'm of no help on that front...I blame my pACE edumakashun.  Heh.

I’d like to wish you a very Merry Christmas, and a most wondrous New Year.  As for me, I’ve finished baking (okay, my husband baked…) & decorating the cookies with the kids, I’ve gotten the last of the necessary presents purchased, they are now wrapped & under the tree.  I’m as ready as I’m going to get.

As you sit there, reading this, some child in a program is alone and depressed.  I was one once.  I do not recall getting a present.  I do recall spending that Christmas with a family from the program, it was probably the best meal I’ve ever had.  I recall feeling unwanted, unloved, saddened that my family couldn’t be bothered with me.  This is very likely a distortion of the truth of the matter.  Very likely my family couldn’t afford a plane ticket, let alone the gas to come down & get me.  That was not addressed though.  I was left to assume whatever I would.  In that state, a child assumes the most depressing and bleakest scenario.

I asked Aaron if he’d like to share anything specific about Christmas in a program…he had this to say, “If you’ve ever had the desire to see a child’s eyes glazed over with depression and defeat the best opportunity is to visit a program near you at Christmas.â€

There's no need to check into that. It is fully illegal. In fact, in some American states you can go to jail for it. Now, Im not threatening anyone here, or saying that their going to jail by any means.

Now that is interesting...can you cite the statute or law you are referring to?

I believe there is such a thing as a Freedom of Information Act, which includes varying types of media...news, radio, newspaer, internet.  Might want to look that up in your free time.
