Elan School / Bad Experinces at Elan
« on: September 03, 2005, 11:22:00 PM »
I remember Armond. I also remember his partner in crime, Charles. While they were @ Elan 8, they did everything in their power to get themselves kicked out, and they managed to succeed. They were both absolutely fucking disgusting!!!! I felt bad for the chief at the time.

I do agree, and I ALWAYS use my name. I know there aren't many of us out there who don't care what these assholes think of us, but I am one of them. Kudos to you for not caring either....

and if you really are a freelance writer, you still have more work to do. As part of a captive audience that takes the time to read some of these stories to find out what the hype is all about....THEY SUCK!!! And not because I have a biased opinion towards Elan or some of it's staff, but because the "writings" or "stories" are OLD! They are repetitive at the very least. Get some new material if you want to keep your readers interested. I think these so called talents would be better off used on maybe your OWN website, where people can go to them and read all about the your views and dislikes? Any of you guys interested in forking out the $ for your own website..... probably not!!!!

Give it a rest. You are mundane, unamusing, and tired. Your writings are monotonous at the very least and you speak from your ass without any regard to fact. Dude, grow up.... really!

SO THE FUCK WHAT!!!!! How does her financial situation effect you or the people she works with??? Clare is by far the strongest woman I have ever met in my life. I could only aspire to be like her.

I know, I know...all you sick fucks are thinking about prostitution comments, and whore this and whore that..... my god, give it a fucking rest!!! In a heartbeat I would refer people to Elan and only hope that they got the chance to meet and work with her on the same level that I did!!! She is a wonderful woman who has dedicated her life to try to make a change! Leave her alone!

I totally agree with the above post with the exception of one thing. TO have past issues doesn't make you a shitty person. It makes you a shitty person when you air other people's issues. I think those that want to talk shit about the personal lives of others should give us THEIR names, the issues they wered sent to Elans for, and ALL of their deepest darkest secrets.  The staff that spent time going through Elan themselves entrusted their personal stories to others in the name of helping change lives!!! I always took to heart the stories of the current directors/former student (ie Clare and Marc) as it made their intentions that much more clear. They worked Elan, they let it work for them, and wanted to pass on their knowledge. The knowledge that some of us are so grateful for. Thank God for them!!!!

I cant even believe that either of you are wasting your time on whose GANG is better. Who cares??? Can either of you say that you are a better person. Try debating things that matter.[ This Message was edited by: Chrysta on 2005-07-20 21:45 ]

actually, proud to say I was in Elan 8 when Clare was the director. I know that we had a different experience in our house then you guys did in Elan 7. I never envied you guys. E7 was refered to as the robot house, E3 was refered to as the corrupt house, and E8 was refered to as the most family oriented house. I always felt that the staff always wanted the best for me (I have to speak for myself here.)

Good for you, and I mean that with out ANY sarcasm at all. I did the same thing with my brother and it worked. I was fresh out of ELan @ 18 years old and he was 12. I took him in for the next 5 years and gave him a foundation to start his life from.
Some people need exactly the opportunity that you and I both gave and some people need a little more. Elan was the place that I NEEDED! I wasn't there for any crimes, but nonetheless, I was OUT OF CONTROL. There wasnt any person out there who was able to give me what I needed. I needed a loving environment with hard structure, accountability, therapy, relationships, and a place that wasn't going to kick me out with thte first sign of my disruptive behavior. For me- Elan was my only hope!!!

I thank god for the opportunity Elan gave me and the great relationships I made while I was there; Clare, Jenn H., Marc, Marian, Shalonda, Janine, Jeff, Alicia G., Emily, Lindsey, RPA, Jamie U...and even the newer residents that taught me so much; Steve T., Jeremy F., Ellie, Jenn F., and so many more. I hope every one is doing well.

I love how as soon as a REAL topic is brought up, the topic is brought back to "Marty fucking buffalo."

I couldn't agree more with the person who posted the most recent, intelligent topic. I am also glad to see that some of the folks from the 80s haven't dedicated the rest of their lives to whining about their abuse suffered in Elan.

I was in Elan in the early 90's for almost 3 years, I was pulled out by the state of Ct 3 months after my 18th birthday. It wasn't important to them that I finished what I started. They were more concerned with the amount of $ they were shelling out to Elan and also to provide me with my own apartment in CT.

I DIDNT enjoy my time in Elan, but I believe that it was 3 years well spent. I credit a lot of my current successes to the changes that I was put through- by the staff, the students, and most importantly by myself!!

I am one that speaks highly of Elan and any other place like it that aides in helping save lives of uncontrollable, out-of-control teens just as I was.

Just wanted to say how nice it is to see someone out there with half a brain embrace a "not-so-nice" experience and move on without placing blame on some place you were because you put yourself there.

As for the "hi-yuh......."  Its really fucking old, dude!!!

No, it's not okay because I wasn't beat, but let me remind you people that I had my fair share of shit in Elan. Not an easy place to be regardless of the time period. I know this, I accept this, but "back in the day" is way too long ago for people to be still be suffering. My point- GET SOME HELP!!! My comment was more refering to the constant defamation of all the staff members there. While you older folk seem to think we younger ones are belittling your experiences there by not recognizing what you went through, you guys (cough, cough Art) are belittling our experiences there by CONSTANTLY ridiculing and and defaming those that helped to save some of our lives. I wonder, can we move on from all the nasty, cruel, hurtful talk and instead productively talk about our experiences????
