Open Free for All / Neat Games
« on: July 11, 2007, 12:25:33 PM »
I periodically like to change up the games in my classroom to keep myself and the kids from getting bored.

Do any of you have any games from back in school? Specifically ones pertaining to the acquisition of a foreign language?

Don't mention hang man.. (hate that game)

or Bingo (loathe it)

or Go fish (kids love, I hate it)

Think about class sizes from 4 to 12.

Suggestions welcome!

I know Washington state has a law that lets 13 year old kids and up decide if they want treatment. What other states have something like this?

What is the creed, or whatever they gave out to the kids to memorize, for the duckfarm inflicted on you?

Here is the Three Springs Creed:

Quote
Our Creed

We believe that every person, regardless of age, social standing, sex, education or race is a person worthy of respect, and whose dignity as a human being should be considered at all times.

We believe that every child placed in our care has a goodness and strength to be found, regardless of their problems or unacceptable behavior.

We believe that the physical and emotional health of our residents is paramount. In no case should they be subjected to undue risk or emotional damage because of our actions.

We believe in discipline based upon love and care, and that decisions affecting those in our care should never be made in anger or haste.

We believe that growth and maturation come by doing, and our residents should never be demeaned by having done for them what they can do for themselves.

We believe that each person involved in our treatment program, be they parent, child, social worker, probation officer, counselor or friend is a part of a cooperative team, and that little can be accomplished without the valuable contribution of each team member.

We believe in truth, whatever the potential for embarrassment.
We believe in fairness, knowing that decisions are never fair to all people all of the time.

We believe in building bridges, rather than burning them, and developing friendships based upon understanding and care for others.

We believe in goals and commitment; for without them our lives are undisciplined and non-directed.

To avoid getting it lost in a sea of jewgold hoarding and hitler accusations:

Shit man! I'm really touched. So good to be missed!

Here's my suggestion. Maybe somebody will do this and beat me to it.

Check out Shattered Lives:
http://www.hr95.org/Shattered.htm

Take this concept and leave out the not-for-profit aspect, instead give each author, artist and photog who contributes and signs a release some share of the profit from the book. This way, the story gets out a little more in another context and form and to a different audience, ppl who make it happen get their fair share of the proceeds and everybody's happy.

Think Libertarian! Money is not evil, it's a form of expression among other things. Stealing it or taking it by force or fraud is evil and seems to be so common anymore that it might seem asif the money itself is the evil element. But it's not.

I think its brilliant.

The Troubled Teen Industry / New Better Jewgold Scheme
« on: June 24, 2007, 10:29:09 PM »
No more spending my time or money on these useless social issues like kiddie concentration camps. As illogical as it may seem I no longer feel burdened by my sense of obligation to help due to the commentary of a few guests. Not sure why, but there you go, and its quite liberating. Thank you guests.

From now on I'm going to think about myself first and foremost. By doing this I can amass a greater horde of jewgold. I won't share it with anyone no matter how deserving they appear.

TBS programs are excellent ways to make money. Rather than invest my jewgold in survivors I'm going to invest my jewgold into programs. Not only will I make more money over the short run my sense of social obligation through guilt will no doubt return in a few months.

Give me some good program suggestions who are publically traded on wallstreet?

also does anyone know of a brokerage that handles jewgold?

How can I donate my jewgold to fornits?

Also I don't want it helping program survivors. They might get blood on themselves and die of jewaids.

Earlier I was trolling through google when I tripped over the link for web wire. The service promised to immediately publish your post directly into the google news ratings.

Of course it costs money. 9.95 per posting.

What are some good sites to do some online journalism on? I've did some looking at Alter.net. They look pretty sharp and no doubt they might be interested in what goes on with all of this.

any other sites?

hopefully ones that don't cost money?

The Troubled Teen Industry / Aspiring Authors Fund
« on: June 23, 2007, 11:45:21 PM »
Proposal:

To foster aspiring authors a fund will be created that provides a monthly or every two months a modest cash grant. Given the finacial limitations supporting the scheme it is likely that the cash grant will roughly 100 to 200 dollars. However, to be eligible for the grant the author must provide a 2000 to 3000 word article for peer review.

The articles submitted will be the sole intellectual property of the author. In no way will the awarding of the grant imply the transfer of the intellectual property rights.

- The submission must be an original work
- The submission must be organized and coherent
- The submission must be properly proofreaded prior to being reviewed.
- The article needs to contain a specific event pertaining to a TBS or public facility. This article will include a now and then format to give the readers some idea as to the long term implications of the event in the life of the author.

At first the grant was being considered for anyone who experienced a TBS or public facility as a parent, staff or survivor. With a bit of thought it was decided to restrict that pool of avaliable applicants to survivors. However, should there be a lack of articles the applicant pool can be opened to parents, sibilings, and former staff members.

Funding for the concept will at this time come from two private donors. Later on it is hoped that the fund can either become self-sustaining or at least increased via donors.

discuss.. suggestions would be most welcome in this matter.
