It sucks! I want the old Fornits back.
The one with the FREEDOM OF SPEECH.
This is censorship and borders on behavior modification.
"Come to Fornits and be treated like you are in a program"
Thanks Gatenazi

Moving this bit over here, or that bit over there disrupts the physical continuity of a thread.

This makes them more difficult to follow, then people are likely to lose interest in the thread, which (ironically) is exactly what the moderation set out to remedy in the first place.

Funny how that works (or, doesn't work).

Hey folks,
I haven't been around much, but I've been in touch w/ a few folk. We're going back to the Old Deal. No more moderators, except in a few forums. No global moderation. No appeals process. We're only going to try to manage spam and flooding again. Leme poke around and remember how to do this.

Thank God...

But that now opens the door for trolls like dd214. What we needed here was a moderator who wasn't a nazi!

True. Nothing wrong with moderating and calling bullshit when needed. I agree in that I do not like it when the threads get their tails or limbs chopped off to be left bloody & squiggling all over the Open Free for All 'killing floor' (btw, the Open Free For All forum used to be much more appealing before it became a dumping ground for unwanted snippets.) All this seems to do is disrupt any continuity that may have existed in a given thread.

Well, I doubt I am the only one who is going to mind the shift back to the way it was a while ago now that this particular moderation experiment has run its course.

I have to give credit, where credit is most assuredly due, to Ginger and Psy for being open and willing enough to give it an honest go. And to Gatekeeper/Judge Joe Brown for putting in the requisite time and effort. This had to have been the classic shitty thankless job.

However, despite all the good intentions, I think that this "experiment" didn't entirely bring about the desired outcome. Certainly not as its original proponents had hoped.

Personally, I found the chopped up and moved around threads rather distracting and ofttimes annoying. Maybe it's just my impression, but it seemed as though that ended up discouraging legitimate discussion even more than any asshattery ever did.

Just my 3¢, fwiw...
