Hey - haven't been on here in a long time. I guess the spam and bull shit kind of turned me off. Working for an ISP - I HATE spam. Besides, it doesn't really seem like too many people on here are real serious about anything. So I don't really check this place out too much.

You want a spam-free forum? I don't how serious it is or not, but there's no spam:

May I suggest an end to anon posting and moderators with an iron fist for a while?

have fun. enjoy your boards. i'm gonna try something new and exciting. enjoying LIFE instead of reading a fucking message board all the damn time. shit, some of us have been here for what, 4 or 5 years now? Maybe it's time we moved on. at least for me it is

Sounds like a plan; I sincerely wish you well. I often feel the same way about it. In fact, it was an irritation with the slowness, jumbled posts, etc. that is part and parcel of the yahoo groups 'experience' that inspired me to create the satellite forum in the first place. Take care.

Well then I guess you guys will have what you want. The Straight Alumni board the same as it ever was with the same people, just over here.
Not necessarily. ANY registered user is more than welcome to post.

Fine by me if that's what you want. I was under the mistaken impression that you wanted others to post.
Did I ever say that I didn't??

Hasn't there been talk about making it completely private? Like to where you couldn't even read it unless you're registered and logged in?

Yup, I'm not thrilled with the idea even though I thought of it. Some of the more paranoid (for lack of better word) folks there raised concerns about potential lawsuits and I threw that out there as a possible solution to that worrisome bs. Long story. I don't think that I'll implement the "members only" thing...still not 100% sure. I will say that I don't like the thought of it. I would venture to guess that the idea isn't appealing to you though, lol.

Maybe I don't want to have to bother with that...?

25
And your point is..?

You can read it but you can't post.

To reiterate, you can't post anon like you said before.

Here it is.

I guess I'll start by apologizing to those folks here that find the word "alumni" offensive, distasteful or otherwise unsavory. I'm not particularly fond of it myself; but that's what the Yahoo Group happens to be called so that's what this one is going to be called, at least for now. You see, my intention for starting this forum was to create an alternative to (but also a sort of extension of) the technically troublesome yahoo board, so I think its name should correspond to that hell accordingly...
