The Seed Discussion Forum / Hitler Youth influence?
« on: July 03, 2006, 07:11:00 AM »
Hmm yea I dont recall anything that I could associate with the Nazi regime.

Where Nazi Germany was (understatement) intolerant of other races Jews Negros etc I remember my time at the seed as being very non denominational and such that we embraced all races and creeds as brothers and equals.

Yes Ricci I remember living with you guys.   Also remember renting those cottages from the Madsens and doing oil change at 4am to go to disneyworld.   That was back when everyone was boxing too,

The Seed Discussion Forum / non rational drug using kids.
« on: May 04, 2006, 01:50:00 PM »
Yea it wasnt just seed kids that smoked it was the whole fucking crazy world, especially the drug culture ppl.  (Im talking late 60's and early 70's)

I used to chain smoke four or five Kools over coffee before I ever left the house in the morning.

But when I think back why did I even begin smoking?   Yea you know it...   I was 14 and wanted to be cool.   But cool back then wasn't really the hippies.  We called the cool people greasers and they had that elvis hair do with the ducks ass and all that  LMAO!

But Hey Cleveland you reminded me of something.   Was that plating company you were talking about called Simpsens and located in Pompano?  There was also a foundry across the street where a few of us worked.
I was up there right across the street this morning to get a topper put on my pickup.  Simpsens is still there. (or was it Stimosons?)
   That was one LOUD place.

Cigartettes were approved by the Seed.

Millions of people everywhere were hooked by the cigarette habit, Seed folks and other folks all included.   Hell even the FDA approved of them for the longest time.  It even took decades for them to be outlawed in resteraunts and other public placed.  If you REALLY wanted to argue the case it would not be inappropriate to state that the damned government was negligent in not making them illegal due to the health hazard involved.   Corporate self interests aside.

Hahah I smoked Kools back then and couldnt wait for the rap leader to light one up.  It was always traumatic when a non-smoking person led the rap.

I remember driving through that seminole reservation and totally being disgusted with myself, yet buying that carton over and over each and every week.  I hated every minute of smoking yet could not quit.  I did about 3 packs a day.

Finally I had a heart attack.  The two weeks of cigarette free hospitalization which followed gave me enough of a head start that I was able to continue thereafter without cigarettes and I have never wanted to go back.

For me, in a way,  it was perhaps the same as giving up the drug culture lifestyle.  ( I was no weekend warrior).  I hated that also but just didnt know how to go about changing it until someone else showed me how.

I have honestly never had any desire to smoke cigarettes since that day.

What do you mean I had the hair for it?

   OMG OMG WHAT HAIR!!>?>?   yikes.

Yea im bald as a melon.

For a while there I experimented.   I tried growing it long with a beard for a while until someone at work told me that I should consider pushing a shopping card and collecting tin cans.
Then I went through a phase of shaving it all totally off.
Now I have reached a middle ground and just give myself a near/bald buzz cut at home with a paur of clippers and settle for that.
I save a fortune in combs and brushes this way!

Stipe no offence taken at all man.   I think its great for all of us to say what we think, regardless if we are in agreement or not.

And honestly I didnt really percieve things quite the way that Greg had pointed out, and was not even aware that there was "another side".

I guess it is just the way of the world that people can have differnt views and feelings about the same thing.

Gotta say tho that I am very touched by the message in a differnt thread that Greg is raising his daughter to have drug free values.

Is she getting any type of music or dance lessons?   Jesus I wish my parents had done that for me.  I could have been the next Elton John.

I think that the reason that folks were asked not to "analize" things was another way of merely saying that you should follow your gut feelings.  Sometimes the heart can offer the correct choice when the mind cannot.

Wow!   La Dome~~!   I went there lots of times.   It was a great spot for birthdays and anniversaries.

Speaking for myself tho I used to have a great time "on campus" as well.  We used to fix all kinds of electrical and mechanical stuff.  Had a blast doing everything and working with the other guys.

We rented a front end loader and filled in the back field so that it was level so we could play ball back there.  That was a blast.

I remember one day working in the back with Johnny G.   I think we were bending some big pipes to use as electrical conduits for ballfield lights.   John had kinda a belly which ummm  somewhat "projected out" shall we say.  I remember teasing him because only the top of his belly had gotten sunburned.

I remember hooking up the final leg of wiring for the ballfield and being asked "Are you sure you have it right".   And of course I replied "fuck yea" with a grin.  And then we flipped the switch and there was a small explosion.  Pretty embarassing but we all laughed our asses off.

And then there was the singing.  We sang all kinda stuff and some played guitars.  Some of the harmony stuf we did rivaled Manhatten Transfer.  There was boxing too  The girls used to sometimes do some kinda line dancing.  There was even dirty jokes.

Naaa I gotta say that I had blast.

Greg I believe that I may have been living in Cranbrook then.  The incident was quite the fiasco at the time as I recall.   Altho I have read your account, I do not first hand remember very many specifics it was so long ago.
