she knows too much.

I ran. I was jarred awake.
I stopped running and turned around. The metaphor of a dragon that was real uncoiled,
a ferocious roar, like being scorned by god,
the breath smells of sour vomit, broken dreams, and abandonment.
I roar back, because I always wake up here.
Sound feel like rubber being stretched around my body...it smells like anesthesia,
I did not wake up and I'm beside myself screaming.
Perplexed, not calm- I witness the mauling. Flesh is torn, blood is mingled with it and clumps spray the area. I can taste my demise and while I expect it to be slimy and wet on me, it instead turns to ash...

The world trade center is gone and I'm in Brooklyn because I can't get across to assist...gape really.
People flood over the Billyburg bridge and are covered in pulverized IBM.
I coped nicely with the world crumbling around me and revenge on everyones mind...I was, I admit, quite comfy with the notion of wrongness.
This path lead me back to all the things that brought me into the building where I had watched the collapse...the marathon to run from what I new was wrong...so fucking wrong. Don't try to make me doubt it, because in my case, false imprisonment and forced compliance- including four weeks without honest FOOD CLOTHES or SHELTER, to make that poisoned and 'resistant' kid that was ME, suck down that mumbo jumbo that was one deluded mans thought on another deluded man named MEL or Charles thought- pisses me off! If I hadn't gotten pissed first, I wouldn't have "woken up". And it's pretty obvious and completely oblique blaming the obvious and oblique involved parties.

I evaded this whole topic because for me it is really dramatic. I drove myself crazy with self loathing in Idaho...it set the pattern for a long time.

That's why I've not been posting and why I still think they're a bunch of dirty pig fuckers...

("We're not gonna take it! NO! We're not gonna take it...ANYMORE) Twisted Sister plays loudly in my head...It's the alarm. I feed the cats. They hate me. Life is good. It's a new year, and I've still got my rage and the support of the universe against me and for me. One way or another some components of my dream are still with me...It's gone. I think about the shrink interrupting me in 2002 while I was raging about Opium production in Afghanistan. He's right. I'm going to misinterpret him, but he surprises me with the simplicity of the sentiment I was not expecting:
"...You said the guy with the axe got paid to make you listen to him tell you about having sex with animals"?
"I told you that last week". I replied simply.
"Go on, you're check cleared"
"What about the fucking pipeline and china and iraq and blackboxes we've been talking about this morning"?
"What about it"?
"Don't be evasive, Dr. Nezzier!"
That's when I knew I was crazy.

I knew the story hadn't ended correctly but everyone in the bar was looking at me. I had just lit the wrong end of a cigarette. rancid. I pretended not to notice but just then I noticed my shoes. They were on. I wasn't wearing pants. OH MY GOD! How could this happen? How embarrassing! Again, I think to myself: THIS IS WHEN I WAKE UP...what was I just talking about, anyway... I back out of the bar after a curt bow. There is applause, but I am awake and stink and have been missing an important garment. I know my name, but for the life of me, I no longer know what I do for a living.

Thanks Awake for posting those items at the top of this thread, it will be handy for people to see.

Also, If you haven't read "SNAPPING" yet, I strongly urge you to read this book, it is the perfect bridge to understanding how Cascade and CEDU presented their PR campaign. Also, in my opinion, in conjunction with "Help at Any Cost" and "Cults in our Midst", "Snapping" is the perfect book for an outsider to look at and "get it".

Duh.
the book Help at any Cost is a must read. Maia Szalavitz, in a responsible and journalistic manner, writes the first informative expose challenging the methods of the troubled teen industry, and illuminating a few of the FUCKED up DEATHS that occurred to fourteen and thirteen year old kids, just like I was.

This site still makes a difference. I hope my account of my experience will too.

Thanks for posting that baby cakes. We need a comprehensive reading list for subject matter that applies to what we are on about- specifically in the CEDU section.

I've been looking over:
Snapping! by Flo Conway
and
Cults in Our Midst is an important book by Ms. Sanger even if you are turned off by the title, it holds a wealth of applicable information.
and
SYNANON everyone's favorite father figure that doesn't have the name Mel, this book is by YArls something.
I'll add to this list and edit it as the neurons start firing again.

Dishduty,
that was a great post. It illuminates some of the most important questions about our experience and what the CEDU experience was like. Unfortunately, just because parents may sometimes make the distinction that CEDU flavored spinoff schools are a risk, it won't change the industry more than a drop in the bucket. See, the CEDU model is still the best one out there from a business standpoint: 1. take kids at their parents' word of what the problem child's problem is- 2. cash check. 3. isolate child (teen, American) from his home, school, society, and friends (not to mention biological parents, step parents and extended family, friends of family who may have disagreed with the separation for 36 months or had a different opinion of what the troubles in the family stemmed from) 4. take these important and intense and often more abstract issues and promise the new parent about your "track" record and mending families being sure to occasionally integrate the nightmare option that could occur without the intervention, 5. Begin to tear the child down (as soon as you can confirm through the "parent communicator"'s redneck, bedraggled, 9 toothed cousin, who works as a baggage handler at the local airport can confirm you've boarded flight 666 back to worry free adolescence done easy! by a series of intimidation tactics and physical deprivations.  6. Convince the child he is alone, stupid, irresponsible, manipulative, a sex maniac, a drug addict, and that his parents hate him. 7. Become the new parent! 8. Cultivate rewards/ punishment program with unexpected punishments and rewards to confuse more the adapting child...you know the rest of the story.

It's the essence of how the places still function. And it works. You can see why, and you can see the issues unfold in any group encounter that is not optional in one of these programs. The one question I would ask is about GROUP encounters, or RAPs. If one of these institutions offers anything like that bullshit- you know the PR package is ALL hoax. Smoke and mirrors is right. The CEDU spinoff people are con artists...even if you still kinda like 'em for whatever reason!

I had to add my two cents here before The Who hijacked another thread with his ulterior intentions.

Just so it is stated here for the record.:

Richard Armstrong was the staff that did my orientation. He also started at least one company- a very important aspect of the troubled teen industry- the "escort" business. Richard Armstrong also worked with additional staff he borrowed from Rocky Mountain Academy, a Twila Stephenson*. When Twila didn't want to mix business and pleasure with Armstrong... he didn't see it that way. So, our former counselor from RMA, who forced me to bend over and show him, up close and personal, my privatest of privates when I was alone with him for the first time as a fourteen year old who had just been left 3,000 miles from my everything, went on to DRUG and RAPE and unconciouss co- worker who turned off his advances! a few years later.

This "school", or ahem, "ACADEMY", employed an entire atmosphere of fear, lies, and deception. Worse, it claimed, demanded you believe, and finally swore the opposite: that it functioned with Truth, Love, and Honesty. A child who is left at a place like that, and encouraged to adopt the confusing ideology of the place, will turn out very, very, perplexed (to put it perfectly innocently) for a long time.
