I'm excited but nervous about it.  The phone interview took a lot out of me, but it's well worth it to expose these assholes for the sadistic fucks they are!

No doubt... I can't wait... I was in the Atlanta Straight.... The world really needs to know what these places were like and what Mel Sembler's pocket was padded by... And as far as the executive staff calling it their job to abuse kids did not make it right. There is no justification for what they were doing...

I am all in and will be there !!!!!

Of course!  The initial invitation was for you, but now that I found out others are coming down/up....we'll do a boat party!  I spent all day yesterday cleaning up.  Have a little more to do, but it'll be fine.  The film crew is staying there instead of a hotel to save on money, so they'll be there too (looking forward to meeting them) but we gotta wrap it up in time for them to get some sleep.  :seg2:

I'm really looking forward to this.  A little nervous to delve back into that shit, but having you guys around will make it so much better!

You know you're welcome darlin'!!

Friday and Saturday nights it's gonna be full as far as sleeping goes.  All bunks have been taken, but we can still party our asses off until the guys have to go to sleep!  There's an aft deck that's covered and two top decks that aren't, so we can fit quite a few for a party.

Spoke with Sam Kinison last night. (whom is my 1st oldcomers roomate) He is in the country. He is in Florida. He is in the immediate area. What a plethora of information! He has an astute memory and an inate ability to remember minute details. So many memories shared, but so differant. How so? For example, we both recall 'incidents'. However, were I only have the memory of the emotion, and remaining emotional impact. He remembers virtually word for word, what was said, and who said it. And he does so with a full head of steam (it isnt really a far stretch to understand why he uses the moniker, Sam Kinison)....absolutely an amazing guy.

He also plans to be involved, and in attendance Friday night. He is exceptionally busy, with a full plate, and heavy itenaray (sp) while in the country. It isnt clear at the moment how logistically how he will make "taping", but those are details that will work themselves out the way they are suppossed to.

Recieved my list of questions. On first reading them, I would be remiss if I didnt describe the....what felt like a goiter in my throat. I understand fully why Anne Booney said that the phone interview "took alot out of" her.

Depending on how the schedule works out, (tapping, location of taping etc) I am planning to bring my tandem (two seat Hobie) kayak, for quick jaunts around the yacht basin/marina. As the "taping" and consequent gathering, may well be intense, a quick lil trip in the kayak may give a quick, brief "get away". Bring a change of clothes, as ya will get wet. (waist down anyway) Not to fear, the water tempature is a comfortable 77 degrees (currently). Temps are projected to be upper 40's as a low with the high being 70 & 72 for Saturday and Sunday, respectfully...Awesome weather! Chamber of Commerce kinda weather!

Question's to Anne, does the boat have a divers platform, to make mooring, and boarding feasable/possible? Or from the dock, is there a place I can tie up, to board and exit the kayak? Or would it be better to simply leave the kayak at the shop? Ya know, for practical, logistical or legal purposes....Or is the idea just, inappropriate? Also, is there wi-fi access at the marina?

Much Peace

Yeah, there's a swim platform.  Right now the dink is sitting on top of it, but I'm putting it in the water and putting the engine on, so we could both tie up to the cleats and have access from the platform so whoever wants to go for a ride, can.  There is wi-fi access.

Right now the weather looks like it's gonna be nice!  A little windy Friday (but I'm working anyway so blah  ;D )  Saturday's high is gonna be 71, low 50 with no rain chance.  Sunday is almost exactly the same.

Gonna be great to see everyone!

two words . . .amazing and fun!   I got down to the boat about 3 pm on Friday.  I took off from work early cause I was so stoked to see my friends and meet the folks from Tallahassee that are producing the movie.    It was great seeing my old friends adn making new ones too.   My interview was scheduled for Saturday morning . . .spent maybe 45 minutes answering questions and discussing straight.    No pressure from the Director or any of the film staff.   These folks from FSU are very professional and knew what they were doing.   As an FSU supporter, it delights me to participate as a survivor but also as an alum.
Y'all this is gonna be big and if any survivors, sibs, want to participate, please contact someone involved and I'm sure you will be included.    It was made clear to me that I was in-charge of my interview  and I could answer any questions I felt comfortable with.    Take a chance, I doubt anyone will regret it.

It was AWESOME!!!!  It really was.....couldn't have gone any better.  Pickle is right - the crew were amazing and made it clear that we were in complete control over what we wanted to discuss and that if at any time it became too much or we got too uncomfortable, they'd stop.   I absolutely fell head over heels in love with "C".....you other guys, please take that in the spirit in which it's intended.   I had spoken to him in a phone interview about a year or so ago and I just felt like I 'clicked' with him.  He's adorable, very sensitive to us and the whole issue and was incredibly supportive of us all the way around, as all of them were.  I just happened to 'fall' for him.  I told my husband that he's my new boyfriend.  :seg2:

They stayed on the boat the first night, but the damn heater broke and the poor things were like little popsicles in the morning, so they moved to a hotel.  I felt really badly...I'd wanted to save them some money.  But that first night, with everyone there on the boat and the first interviews going........wow, I mean really......just wow.  It was so intense and we really delved deeply into issues that I either hadn't thought about in years or someone would say something about the after-effects of the program that I hadn't even thought about and it was like another dot was connected.  I learned so much.  It was just a flat out blast too!  All the survivors there, the GREAT crew.....we all had so much fun.

It was sooooo good to see old friends and great to meet some of the people I've been talking with for years here.

We were not allowed to have music.  You could not even say, "Led Zeppelin" or "The Doors" without reprisal. But, on Saturdays after clean up hours, we could listen to John Denver, Whitney Houston, or Neil Diamond in the main house. Staff were DJs.

@ Non-Ya---Yes, they filmed at the Morgan Yacht Building, this was part of my interview. To back up a bit, my interview was to be in the car, while driving. Saturday after a few interviews they packed up all the equipment, and we all pilled into different vehicals and down the road we went. The first stop was at the Morgan Yacht Building, I was interviewed again whilst infront of the building. Then they asked Kpickle and I to take them for a walk around the building to show them a part of Tyrone Blvd. were Kpickle had explained the many hours he spent gazing at the cars as they drove over the overpass. He also explained that for years now, after the fact, how he screams and shoots a bird at the building as he drives over the road.

From there we went to my first building, which was the Milton Roy Building, which was particulary chilling. Because a memory surfaced of the "out door raps" we once had the luxury of having...of which I can remember no more than four. The crew was also shown the previous bulding, the Ray-Haul/RayHall building, which was the second building, directly across the way from the Milton Roy Building. The irony, this was the building which held the SEED, several years ago. The crew even noticed how far from society we were held. With the songs, the screaming, the stand-ups, the come-downs, there were few if any that ever heard our "noise". We spoke of the 'splits' that occured at the Morgan Yacht Building, how runners were chased into Tyrone mall by a mob of phasers. And how people were almost jaded to see one child being chased by a group of 15-20 of teenagers, and thought little and did even less about it. And how if caught by any legal agency, the law, the fire department, HRS, truancy officers, literaly any place a child could run for help....were immediately and without question returned to the respective buildings.

Of course the Morgan Yacht Building is/was completely surrounded by a 7-8 foot fence. Even tho the building is now occupied by a Marine Comapny, selling boat motors and boat stuff. Which in and of it self propably doesnt need a 8 foot barrier fence. But the buildings previous tenent was Ratheon, a major Defence Contractor, probably did. In fact the many cameras we witness still attached to the building, covering at least every angle of the property, were left overs from the Ratheon people. But who knows...fact is the cameras are still there.

Another thing I noticed and thought odd...however briefly..were the vehicles that passed us on the street. Just like the old days, people honked and hollered out the window. It made me think and wonder if the neighboring people still remembered the horrors and the reputations the building had.

Even the old Man that sat in the reception area Mr. Ed was discussed, with his arsenal of runners...It was difficult to have thousands of memories and only be able to recal and discuss but a few....but soooooooooooooo empowering and cleansing.

I am still trying to write my experience of the weekends activities.....Soooooo much to write, so little time, time to get my fingers to keep up with the out pouring of memories.

Looks like I will have to blow off another day of work and sit with my fingers to the keyboard...Which I will gladly do, without any reservation...soooooo, more to come...Here and on the other sites.

Much Peace!
Continued Healing!

I love you darlin'!  Was soooo good to see you again.  Call if you get squirrely.   :-*

I'm still trying to process it all too.  There's so much to write about, but it's not flowing easily....kinda like there's just too much to get out without it coming out all fragmented.  Kinda felt the same way about my interview..

I might take ya up on that phone call...I am better today than yesterday. Being last interviewed has its disadvantages. But like I said, today is better than yesterday. Yesterday I couldnt describe it, today I can...void, vacant, empty, drained.Today I just feel void, vacant and empty...I was able to sleep so not so "wiped out" Everything about me wanted to be strong, not only for myself, but for all who were there. ANd it was actually Kelly who caught me as I was comming apart at the seams on the dock friday night....She saved my ass! Emotionally, I suffered a major fracture...I was broken into thousands of pieces. I cried so hard all I recall is just shaking uncontrollably, and I can not tell you what prompted it, who was being interviewed, or ya know, it simply could have been the fact that "it" was actually occuring.

Am telling ya Lady Anne, if we can not call it a miraculious meeting, if we can not say some diveine grace brought us all together and made things flow....The the stars, of many galaxies were in perfect allignment....and with that kinda gravity, is there any question as to the power this event has...and will continue to have in DC?

Much Peace

Straight was a loving place of hope and healing where people could work on their drug and alcohol problems with some dignity and pride. Your supportive family network is willing to work on themselves to help reconnect with you in spite of the relationships that you once ruined with them. A team of professional staff members is there to help and assist you and your loved ones through the long and painful recovery process. Are you diseased individuals? Yes. Are you the lowest form of life on Earth? I`m afraid so. Do you need a time out from society because of all the bridges you have burned because of your addictions? Without a druggie doubt. Upon graduation you may even wish to serve on the honorable staff and help other addicts with their problems. If you prove you are a worthy example to others you might be accepted to join this ring of Honor called "Staff." Is Straight confrontational? Yes, but only in a Tough Love kind of way, and if you complete the program you will come to understand that the sweet is never as sweet without the sour. I wish you the best as you take this brave and unpredictable journey of recovery and discovery.

I might take ya up on that phone call...I am better today than yesterday. Being last interviewed has its disadvantages. But like I said, today is better than yesterday. Yesterday I couldnt describe it, today I can...void, vacant, empty, drained.  Today I just feel void, vacant and empty...I was able to sleep so not so "wiped out" Everything about me wanted to be strong, not only for myself, but for all who were there.

Yup....exactly how I've felt the past few days.  I was first interviewed (didn't know I was gonna be first   ), don't know if that was good or bad, but it definitely took a lot out of me.  Then I had the whole rest of the weekend to continue.  I wanted to hear everyone's but Sat. night, but after Friday night and Saturday day I just didn't have enough strength, physically or emotionally, to go to Tampa with those that went.

Quote
ANd it was actually Kelly who caught me as I was comming apart at the seams on the dock friday night....She saved my ass! Emotionally, I suffered a major fracture...I was broken into thousands of pieces. I cried so hard all I recall is just shaking uncontrollably, and I can not tell you what prompted it, who was being interviewed, or ya know, it simply could have been the fact that "it" was actually occuring.

I think that first night was pretty powerful for all of us.  We had all been both excited and anxious about the "upcoming event" that when everyone finally got there and things really got rolling, "it" just started pouring out of all of us.  I'm so glad Kelly saw that you were in trouble.  She's friggin awesome!

Much Peace
Continued Healing

Abso-friggin-lutely!!!  Wish I could travel up for that!  This really was/is unbelievably powerful.  And intense.  And empowering.  And sad.  And incredibly happy.  And the crew!  I just fell in love with them.  How professional and caring they were/are.

You'd have been welcome and amongst friends, so even if you "fucked up"....it wouldn't have bothered us.  We missed ya!  There's still DC if you end up feeling up to it.

Did they say when they would be in D.C.?  I was in LIFE, not Straight, do you think they would mind if I went anyway?  LIFE was run by Mrs. Pete (Straight) and Dr. George Ross, who would go on to join Newton at "Kids".

I can't speak for them, but I think it's an important part of the story.  Each successor that opened up was billed as "____________" without the abuse, but it was the same exact shit.  And if Newton had ANYthing to do with it, it was worse than before he got ahold of it.

I think Webdiva might know more about the DC thing.  Try PMing her.

I vote yes, provided there's time enough for the actual Straight survivors who are present on that day, but PM Webdiva to get a better idea of how many plan on showing up, and the likelihood, etc.

I would agree 100% with Lady Anne, about the spin-off programs. If any of the programs, whether started by Hellen Peterman, George Ross, MIller Newton, IMHO (if I had a humble opinion) are a intregal part of the story. Each on of thier names were mentioned in several interviews, including my own. I particularly mentioned George Ross name. I gave explicit account of one atrocity, that regrettably I was an active part of. I distinctly remember saying that his name: "GEORGE ROSS" has merely  been glazzed over. This hienious act, that I took an active part in, at the bequest of GEORGE ROSS along with 5 other boys, all children has been an ongoing nightmare of mine for decade after decade after decade. I was fortunate to apologize to this girl/woman, I was graced with her acceptance of my role in the incident.

L.I.F.E may not have been Straight Inc.....but think of it this way, ShaddyAcres.....It's the same whore, with a different dress on. I met a woman named Kim this weekend, she was in KIDS, of NJ. She was a welcome part of the entourage, I dont think for a second there was any one moment she felt out of place. Ironically, she is the one who spoke the loudest in saying..."we are a family"....and to be honest, I was taken back by that remark. But as I have had more and more time now to think about it....She is absolutely correct. As dysfunctional as we may appear, and in some cases are...we all share a common bond...a least common denominator. Sure, we can pick and choose our friends, but boil it all down, the ones closest to understanding us....is us and nobody else, but us.

The project is called Straight Inc. The movie....but I dont think any of us are deluded enuff to think, it started with Straight Inc, and or it ended with Straight Inc. These names that keep cropping up, crop up for a reason. Bring it all out into the open, the best deoderant, is sunshine....expose this dark, dank history for what it is. This alleged "Dr." George Ross has a nasty history in the wholesale abuse of children....Helen Peterman, just as guilty.

Aside from my obvious distaste for these two cretins, consider a soul search, let your concious be your guide. And if so inclined, don't hesitate in dropping a PM to WedDiva (AKA: Kelly)

Much Peace

Actually Straight Inc the movie is just a working title, I beleive we will "probably" call it Surviving Straight Inc. or Surviving Straight Incorporated.  We're working the details out.
