When I don't know the answer to something I ask. I am so sorry that your rehab was not on my mind after 13 months in Straight. Also my comments are based on first, my time in Straight, what I have read about AARC and you proponents of the program who are just so scary and domineering. You tell us to stop complaining and yes some of us (here is a word you'll know) share about our experiences but why should I "shut up" because you don't like what I am saying. This is not group Freedom of Speech go to a I love my rehab chat room and talk. Or don't they like you. Sorry that I don't follow you protocol and pretend to know everything about everything and everybody. So now you don't talk about Straight because you weren't there,don't talk about people cause you don't understand them either obviously.That should cut down on your postings a lot. Anyone else have suggestions on what he should shut up about? Too bad we don't live in the same state I might recognize you by the I love AARC bumper sticker and the lack of people in your car. You do have a car right or did you donate it to the program.

Ok I read it again. We are fighting a loosing battle but don't we have to say and do something anyway. I never even knew anyone was doing anything to stop these programs. When I was in Straight I was 15 after that I never even knew it closed. My Straight was in Mass. and I live in NY Until this November I never was aware of these websites or anything. So my point is really this is still so unbelievable that people are out there that even realize the way it was in there do you get me??? This is still unreal. I need to complain no one here (NY) can even believe that places like these exsist. I wish we could stop treatment programs all together, I personally think it is treating the symptom of the problem not the actually problem. I think parents need to be treated and not in that BS group setting so they can go home to their nice houses and T.V. type way.

Dear Dog, I really am not feelin where you are coming from. Forget about the parents now we are the parents and this situation still remains. I have no problem with anger personally and I am comfortable expressing it. What I am not comfortable with is your idea that we should get over it. If we just get over it then it is forgotten and done with nothing and no one to stop it from happening again. I have conviction in anything I believe in but tend to get angry when it is a cause almost unsurmountable. The people who run/own and operate these Straight type TC communities are the government. Fighting the government is not the most effortless thing to do bro. You get behind Bush and implement your new wave of treatment centers better yet why don't we lock the parents up and teach them how to control their "out of control kids" that may work. If you loved you campy rehab experience then go head but not me and I will not forget it. Peace out Dog

You are right. There really must have been a difference. Straight was insane and there really is no way to defend it. It also was so traumatic that all these years later I am still burning with rage at the @#%$ that happened to me and all the other people there. I really know nothing about AARC but I want to know... were your mouths covered by your peers?? did they deny you the right to use the bathroom?? did they keep you pinned down on the floor for hours and hours without the ability to get up and get a drink of water or move around? There were kids who slashed their wrists in group and staff that dealt with it by standing them up and screaming at them about how weak they are,or bringing them to the "infirmary" for a bomb squad. I am not grateful I hate them 11yrs later and I really hate them with vengeance.

There is something so strange about the way these programs handled suicide/slashing attempts. It is almost like they are imparting the message that you really must not want to die or you would be dead, do it better, you are pathetic. In Boston I overdosed on advil at a safehouse after copping out. I did not want to die I wanted to go into a psych ward to get out of Straight. They pumped my stomach and sent me back that night to be reamed in group and stripped of my "clean time" and frozen for 30days. I did not want to die but they didn't know that. They were antagonistic and basically told me that I had even failed at my so called suicide attempt. Uh yeah I did but what if I was suicidal and in need of support it was not there couldn't they have been caring and seen it as needing help or love? People that I was in the program with are dead others are completely unable to live in society. I am not saying that there is one answer to every problem but confrontation and someone who feels badly about themselves do not go well together. I don't know of any program such as these in my state NY (yeah >

Writing a screenplay about your expierence is a really great idea. I wrote a great deal after I got out of Straight. It was healing. It was a release. For you if you write something that reaches the masses something could happen. Probably nothing drastic but maybe another brick in the wall will come down. People are really ignorant to the situations that happen in these type of treatment programs. Civil rights are irrelevant and people... my parents and sadly my friends really do not comprehend the damage that is inflicted on individuals and the fact that some people are ruined for life. (choosing to use words that will not be censored) some idividuals I know from the program are dead and some are mentally destroyed. They way I see it and please feel free to correct me if you or anyone thinks I am wrong is that we were emotionally injured by this but we can still talk about it and we are still alive. I think that Straight Inc..Mrs Gear Mrs Boyle and the ignorant vindictive fucks that associated with this Nazi white arien (sp?) coup. need to be prosecuted for endangerment, manslaughter, and neglect. And crazy shout out to Tom Driscoll I hope you are reading this sight and I want you to know you are a pansey pathetic dickless bitch, and I took that punch in the face from you but if we were in the real world you would have gotten your ass beat for hitting a girl and then I would of kicked you while you were down. You are one brainwashed individual and you remind me of some rabid group member I cursed out years ago. You and your one instance of possible and I really mean possible help of one 13yr old is a pathetic attempt to make your case. The reason I think you fell short of really articulating your point is because you did not have your mind control rehab spoon feeding you your thoughts and arguments. How would you like it if there was a 72hr law that allowed us to attempt to deprogram you from your rehab coma and try to make you form a coherent opinion of your own. If you love your rehab and it gave you a life,an opinion,and a personality so be it, but myself and lots of others already know who they are and what they want to say and do not need to be programmed. If you are soooo grateful and love your life why are you reading and commenting on our opinions and thoughts? Get a life !! Your own life !!! Go to a meeting or something. Please!
