Feed Your Head / Re: The Shaping of American Character
« on: December 12, 2015, 09:21:32 AM »
Quote
I don't consider it the dark underbelly of American history.  I consider the perception of history of the last hundred and fifty years or so to be a completely imaginary construct.  The US has been the most powerful state in the world for about one hundred years.  Currently the US military has the entire world broken up into commands, a situation unequaled by any previous empire.  There are US Special Forces operating in over one hundred countries, and US bases in 65 countries.  This is not consistent with the rhetoric about other states and non-state actors being the aggressors in economics and geopolitics.
As any example, the Russians used the Tu-95 Bear in combat for the first time in November.  This is more or less the equivalent of the B-52, both entering service in the mid-fifties.  So in sixty years, the wicked Russians have never used their heavy strategic bomber.  The same cannot be said about the B-52, which has dispensed freedom from corporeal existence to people for fifty years, from Vietnam to Yugoslavia to Afghanistan.

Precisely; it's not dark to you because you've been paying attention. But reality is hidden from the dumbed-down and the occluded by the propaganda machine of corporately-owned media, and a fountain of distractions and li'l gadgets. For instance, just look at the numbers that the gov't is putting out about the unemployment rate, GDP, etc. (and how they are constantly manipulated) compared with the real numbers (provided by a certain independent source). On that note, I wonder how many people still don't realize ISIS is the US proxy army. (Or should I say was, as they have been being demolished and pushed back by Russia, not by the US, as they would have you believe.)

Hey Matt, It's great to see you posting on here again. I had been checking this thread for a while, looking for more replies, saw nothing new and stopped checking for a bit, but happened to see yours last night when i came on here to post about something else entirely (I won't get into that now.)

I can still recall sitting in the same room with you (literally) back at that surv party in wherever, whenever, VA. I'm glad to hear you've been playing guitar. Yep, I have too; I kept that daily regimen going, every day that I was alone in the house. My self-esteem tends to hinge on it. (It tends to flag a bit after a gig, if there's nothing else lined up.) I even made up a few songs of my own this past summer / fall. Those are mostly instrumentals.

I might be headed down your way not too long from now. I don't want to say too much here, but it'd be great to jam with you if possible.. I still need to retrieve, and dust off, my big amp from the old practice space in MD (where it's been sitting for a few years now). Generally, I've gotten reclusive, and my wheels need work now still. Getting a bit antsy, though, and reading your post served to add to that fire!

Anyway, in summary, what are your thoughts on this??

The dynamic here was much more conducive to original thought, and outright anon mayhem. Like the Wild West, or maybe a biker bar, like that one pinned thread on here says. You took the good with the bad here, but the good was always worth the bad, so to speak. Just my .02 on this for the moment.

No, it isn't. I could elaborate at length here about governmental manipulation (race-baiting, gun-grabbing, false flags, history modification, etc.), outright war and oppression in other countries (using the excuse of fighting a ginned-up "threat of terrorism"), and efforts within the past two administrations to effect the loss of all human rights right here at home via bogus (and unconstitutional) legislation.

The corporately owned media serves as a mouthpiece for the program at large, which could be likened to those pamphlets that were given to parents which went to great lengths to tell it like it wasn't, and to justify our subsequent captivity in their minds.

Freedom and responsibility are only possible where there is sovereignty and respect for the individual, which we of course do not have here. Countries like Iceland have made steps in that direction, so if you are wanting to find it, you would have to look there, or make a stand here with millions of others.

The militarized police are the staff and upper phasers; better hope they don't sell out too much, and that they come to the realization that they are being used.

So Antigen, do you just leave all of your doors unlocked and tell strangers where you live, your bank account pin number (if you happen to have anything in the bank; personally, I see no point in it anymore, and have little to deposit anyway)?  What about encryption? Is such a thing a waste of time? Yes, of course, all eyes are on fb...like a bunch of cattle led to slaughter, you might say? (The "American Freedom Act" which picked up where the expired Patriot Act left off, has made it legal for corporations to do the governments dirty work for them, i.e., transferring collected data to them. Facebook was first in line with this, from what I've gathered..  just my .02 on "secret keeping" and such.)

Hi, Carmel. If you're a dick, then I have no clue what I am..  :)

Well I don't know... absurd as it is, a clause stating that it's permissible for the government to use propaganda on the people (not to mention detaining people without due process!) is a little weird. I agree it is ridiculous; it's about as silly as setting up a "free speech zone," but they've tried to do that, too... A lot of things seem to indicate that they PTB are getting a wee bit worried about social unrest on the "domestic front," what with the de-dollarization of the world reserve currency, insane debt to a private institution (forget about a "ceiling," the roof is on fire!), and the imminent collapse that will inevitably follow. "All eyes on the stock market! Keep the gold prices smacked down! Tell them it's worthless while we stockpile it! Get those hedge funds buying up the real estate! Let's make it look good, so that the masses believe we're in a recovery! Expand that bubble!!"

Shall we mention the militarization of local police forces? The buffer zones around gov't buildings? Laws making it illegal to protest within certain distances of government officials? Attempt after attempt to infringe upon the 2nd Amendment? I'm sure you're up on all of this...How about the fact that the big banks are now referring to depositors as "creditors"? Why even HAVE a bank account right now?

I stopped watching the "idiot box" a long while ago as well, save the occasional viewing to see what kind of crap they try to push on it, and I couldn't agree with you more about Fox, NBC, etc. (of course, you might have gathered as much already from my statement about the corporate media being owned.)

I completely agree that public (and maybe most private) education consists of glorified propaganda...

Those are good news sources that you mentioned...

One thing: You didn't comment at all on the CIA black site in Chicago. As a program survivor, surely you find that troubling. Anyone should really, survivor or not, as we might as well be in Soviet Russia with that going on... and you know there have to be other ones (in this country, that is; we already know there are several CIA black sites in other countries) that haven't been outed yet. Thousands of people were out protesting in Homan Square.. Did the media cover it? I seriously doubt it, yet this is the reality.

What do you think would happen if they tried? They know this. So they're not dumb enough to do it.

Huxley over Orwell.

Interesting point; I see elements of both Huxley and Orwell in this society....

What would happen? Things are already happening; did you check out my post on the Troubled Teen Industry forum about CIA black sites?

Aside from owning the corporate media and using it to lie, spin, disseminate propaganda (and related false flags), they use "mission creep" to gradually push their agendas at home and abroad. The NDAA has a clause that actually allows the government to use propaganda on the people (If you don't believe this, I understand, but you can look it up.) Hell, you really needn't look any further than 9/11 (and the Patriot Act), or the Affordable Care Act for perfect examples of the deception consistently at play.

The last thing the internet needs, especially right now, is governmental control and regulation...yet I think it got passed. Do you really see much wrong with the internet the way it is now that needs their 'fixing'? They also want to start requiring licenses for journalists so that only the "approved" journalists have a voice on the internet (see the bill proposed by Diane Feinstein not too long ago.) Hey, if they really want to fix something, how about making it illegal for the NSA to spy on us? They don't need to, really, because that violates the Constitution to begin with...but THAT would be an improvement that could be made....

It's a bit of shame that the posting activity on this board, these fora, or FORNITS (for lack of better words) is moribund, at best. Here you have a completely uncensored and open forum, and yet people are still drawn to the social data mining experiment known as facebook like moths to a flame. It's known that FB opened up its doors nice and wide to snooping and snitching (you can report posts now, flagging them as "untruthful" or "inappropriate," and lot of political videos have been flagged, for example, as I found while still on it; welcome to the ministry of truth.) And most facebook users are trusting enough to use their own names on it....

To those of you (Pile of Dead Kids, Gookin, Oscar, Matt Hoffman, dragonfly, pirate, etc.) who still post here, I just want to say that I'm glad to see you're still doing it. (Pile of Dead Kids, you have one of the coolest screen names this forum has ever seen, whether we agree about everything or not.)

I hate seeing a good thing like Fornits die while "social media" supplants it as a medium of expression.

No, the FCC is not going to use this to censor content.

To say the least, this is a pretty naive statement.
