Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / 'Hooked' On a Feeling...
« on: May 28, 2003, 10:48:00 PM »
Sex raps - the worst. Time to talk about how sex and "perverted" acts are tied into your 'chemical dependency'. Yeah, you "got good feelings" from it, so it has to be wrong, right? Everything we did was "abnormal" and "immoral". Pre-marital sex! God forbid!! Only a "druggie" would do that... :scared:
How degrading! Those were the WORST. Real THERAPEUTIC. I got a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach every time we had one of those. Was it once a week??

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / Stranglehold
« on: May 27, 2003, 10:43:00 AM »
After being there (Va str8) for about two years, and having been on 5th phase for like a year, I decided it was time to get out. I don't know if I was on 5th or on some kind of setback when I put in for withdrawal. I very well may have been on 5th, which would have meant that I wrote up my own request for withdrawal, a not-so-usual occurance, I would guess. I don't know how long it took, but I ended up meeting with my parents and staff in a little room. I was asked to give an explanation for my desire to "pull myself",
LOL. No actually, they had made us stop using that
term, for obvious reasons. So I told them i "just
wanted out" and they kind of had to "pull teeth" as to the why. I was goaded into making a statement with the gist of "Yes, I'd rather go be with my old friends, I didn't sat 'druggie' because I didn't really see them that way, never did, I was the one who 'turned on' my best friend to acid, and he was the one who was always telling me, "Just do your homework" "Don't get high so much" and stuff like that. This guy was a lifesaver after I got out. But anyway, I told them that, and this really struck an odd nerve with my dad, or something, because he started getting upset, saying "You'd rather go be with DANNY then to be with me?" It was something like that. No, I'm not gay, lol. So i said "Yes." So he gets up and tries to strangle me. He got his hands around my neck and I think staff had to pull him off of me. so that was it. I was leaving. Or so I thought. I started walking, just
started walking, miles from my home, and my sister got out of my parents car and talks to me out there for 3 hours, and convinces me to stay somehow. (I didn't remember anything that happened after the stranglehold, and still don't, this is what she told me happened...)So I went back in, and ended up copping out later on.

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / VIRUS - "Network Security Update"
« on: April 01, 2003, 10:41:00 PM »
Rather than repeat (retype) myself, I've pasted in
this email I just got back from the layman's computer guru, Dan Gookin:

***************************

Eagle eye! You're very good! I've well-trained you.

I haven't read anything about this yet, but my guess is that it's the
Next Big Virus.

Give yourself a pat on the back for stopping it. You make me proud!

Best,
DAN

>No, I did not run it anyway, lol. Do you know if this is a virus? (It seemed very legit.)

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / Can anyone relate?
« on: March 22, 2003, 11:42:00 PM »
Yes. I sure can. For now, I'll be concise. I remember watching that movie about Francis Farmer. (If you don't know about it, do a google search on that name and something is bound to come up) Anyway, it was only a couple of years that I was out of there (str8 VA) and I was watching that movie with an ex-girlfriend. I had told her, so she knew that I had been 'somewhere'. She started asking me what had happened to me while I was in there. I forget exactly what I replied with, but I was still in a sort of denial about the place. You could also call it selective memory. After I kind of "dummied up" she went into a near PANIC asking me "Oh my GOD Alex! What did they do to you in there?!?" This made me even more weirded out and I just said something to try to calm her down. I'll never forget that. I shocked that anyone could react like that. WEIRD.

Just wanted to bounce this off of some of you politically-minded folk around here...this appeared in my inbox. I skimmed over it, but it's late, and I have other things on my mind, I can't focus on reading all this stuff, maybe it's the cough syrup I'm taking for the congestion I've got from this cold...but anyway I'm not sure if this is for or against...whaddya think? Whaddya think of oit in general? Here it is:

Subject: The Logic of Bush's War?

The Logic of War

Peter Freundlich - NPR 03-13-03

Let me see if I understand the logic of this right.

We are going to ignore the UN to make clear to Saddam Hussein that the UN cannot be ignored.

We are going to wage war to preserve the UN's ability to avert war.

The paramount principle is that the United Nation's Word must be taken seriously and if we have to subvert it's Will to guarantee that it is, then by god, we will.

Peace is too important not to take up arms to defend. Further if the only way to bring democracy to Iraq is to vitiate the democracy of the security council then we are honor bound to do that too because democracy as we define it is too important to be stopped by a little thing as democracy as they define it.

Also in dealing with a man who brooks no dissention at home we can't afford dissention among ourselves. We must speak with one voice against Saddam's failure to allow opposing voices to be heard.

We are sending our gathered might to the Persian Gulf to make mute the point that Might does not make right as Saddam Hussein seems to think it does. And we are twisting the arms of the opposition until it let's us oust the regime that twists the arms of the opposition. We can't leave in power a dictator who ignores his own people and if our people and people elsewhere in the world fail to understand that then we have no choice but to ignore them.

Listen, don't misunderstand, I think its a good thing that the members of the Bush administration seem to have been reading Lewis Carroll. I only wish someone had pointed out that Alice in Wonderland/Through the looking glass are meditations on Paradox & Puzzle & illogic & on the strangeness of things. Not templates for Foreign Policy. Its amusing for the Mad Hatter to say "We must make War  on him because he's a threat to peace but not amusing for someone who actually commands an army to say that.

As a collector of laughable arguments I'd be enjoying all this were it not for the fact that I know, we all know, that lives are going to be lost in what amounts to a freak circular reasoning accident.

Terrorist pilot Mohammad Atta blew up a bus in Israel in
1986. The Israelis captured, tried and imprisoned him. As
part of the Oslo agreement with the Palestinians in 1993,
Israel had to agree to release so-called "political
prisoners."

However, the Israelis would not release any with blood on
their hands, The American President at the time, Bill
Clinton, and his Secretary of State, Warren
Christopher, "insisted" that all prisoners be released.

Thus Mohammad Atta was freed and eventually thanked the US by
flying an airplane into Tower One of the World Trade Center.
This was reported by many of the American TV networks at the
time that the terrorists were first identified. It was
censored in the US from all later reports.

Lately there has been a lot of breath spent on whether or not a person should post anonymously. Perhaps this should no longer be an option. Is it too much to ask that a person pick a unique name (real or a pseudonym) to post under? Is there a reason why we should have to wonder which
anonymous is posting a message? Considering the recent 'goings on' on this board, I think that this option ought to be considered. Thanks...

Abush - Just want to say that I'm really diggin' these posts of yours. Please don't take this the wrong way, but at times they read like a comic book. A good comic book. That thread that you just started titled "remembrances" brought back the feeling of my intake. I can't really remember much of my interaction with my parents on that day, but I do recall the feeling of knowing that I was trapped...20 years ago...straight VA...

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / Heavy Politics
« on: February 24, 2003, 11:47:00 PM »
After having been on 5th for way too long (year
total!) I didn't worry as much about things that I
would have before. Things that would have gone
"against my conscience" before. Like buying and
listening to punk albums. (uh oh, my PAST!) I read "A Clockwork Orange" on 5th when I would have been squeamish about it before. I started getting (at least I was TRYING to get) heavily political. Some of the music - like "Penis Envy" by Crass, stuff by the Dead Kennedys, and this weird sorta 'skinhead' band called the Nihilistics, was very anti-Gov't. (No I'm not and
never was a racist skinhead) Punk music (and yes,
other music too) kept me feeling like I still had a pulse in there. I figured if anyone got too weird about me enjoying criticizism of the gov't, then that just showed how FULL_OF_SHIT that they (and subsequently Straight) in fact was/were. At school, all I did was either sleep, try to improve my vocabulary (by going thru a pocket dictionary), or doodled. After I 7-stepped, I think, I remember going to an Anarchist library here in Baltimore and looking for anything interesting. I found out about a demonstration against Apartheid. I ended up going down to the embassy with complete strangers and picketing.
The best part was the ride to and from. Enlightening discussions in the car like the politics of Star Trek (having a black woman and asian that didn't act like stereotypes) and stuff like that...It wasn't too long before good ol' sex, drugs and rock n' roll found their way back into my life, for better or for worse. As far as politics go, I don't really have time for 'em anymore, but do appreciate a good, succinct update
now and again...peace out, thanks for reading. >>FR13

PS - Scott B., what's up? When did Dean blast me about punk music? I mean, what did the FAG say, anyway? (Hey, that felt kinda good, no offense to gays on this board)
