I honestly wouldn't be surprised at all if, tomorrow morning (or the next or some other day) our regularly scheduled blow dried air heads went missing and some different, less chipper personalities showed up on the idiot box to inform us that NYC, DC, LA and a few other choice locations had been effectively blown away. Would you honestly be surprised? Really?

I was just in England recently and experienced the last bombings, from a town not to far away. My parents had just been there and headed back to London. Lo and behold about 2 hours later the bombs went off. They were only a few miles from the events. Just makes one Edgy. Then again today. Is this foreshadowing of things to come?

Now, how do you deal w/ them?.... anybody? In their minds, we're all enemies. There are no good guys. Their lives and the lives of others around them have been renedered infertile, scorched earth and we're all to blame. No telling what they may do or to whom and there's absolutely no reasoning w/ them. Is that a whole lot different, in terms of agitating dynamics, from what has happened to Aryians at the hands of Anglicans in the past 800 years or so? How do you reason w/ that?

1. Terminate America's freedom of speech by replacing it with statewide and nationwide hate-crime bills.
2. Wage a war of words using black leaders like Louis Farrakhan, Rev. Jesse Jackson and other visible religious personalities who promote Islam as the religion of African-Americans while insisting Christianity is for whites only. What they fail to tell African-Americans is that it was Arab Muslims who captured them and sold them as slaves. In fact, the Arabic word for black and slave is the same, ''Abed.''
3. Engage the American public in dialogues, discussions, debates in colleges, universities, public libraries, radio, TV, churches and mosques on the virtues of Islam. Proclaim how it is historically another religion like Judaism and Christianity with the same monotheistic faith.
4. Nominate Muslim sympathizers to political office to bring about favorable legislation toward Islam and support potential sympathizers by block voting.
5. Take control of as much of Hollywood, the press, TV, radio and the Internet as possible by buying the related corporations or a controlling stock.
6. Yield to the fear of the imminent shut-off of the lifeblood of America ? black gold. America?s economy depends on oil and 41 percent of it comes from the Middle East.
7. Yell ''foul, out-of-context, personal interpretation, hate crime, Zionist, un- American, inaccurate interpretation of the Quran'' anytime Islam is criticized or the Quran is analyzed in the public arena.
8. Encourage Muslims to penetrate the White House, specifically with Islamists who can articulate a marvelous and peaceful picture of Islam. Acquire government positions and get membership in local school boards. Train Muslims as medical doctors to dominate the medical field, research and pharmaceutical companies. (Ever notice how numerous Muslim doctors in America are, when their countries need them more desperately than America?) Take over the computer industry. Establish Middle Eastern restaurants throughout the U.S. to connect planners of Islamization in a discreet way.
9. Accelerate Islamic demographic growth via:
* Massive immigration (100,000 annually since 1961).
* Use no birth control whatsoever ? every baby of Muslim parents is automatically a Muslim and cannot choose another religion later.
* Muslim men must marry American women and Islamize them (10,000 annually). Then divorce them and remarry every five years ? since one can't legally marry four at one time. This is a legal solution in America.
* Convert angry, alienated black inmates and turn them into militants (so far 2,000 released inmates have joined al-Qaida worldwide). Only a few ''sleeper cells'' have been captured in Afghanistan and on American soil.
10. Reading, writing, arithmetic and research through the American educational system, mosques and student centers (now 1,500) should be sprinkled with dislike of Jews, evangelical Christians and democracy. There are currently 300 exclusively Muslim schools in the U.S. which teach loyalty to the Quran, not the U.S. Constitution. In January of 2002, Saudi Arabia?s Embassy in Washington mailed 4,500 packets of the Quran and videos promoting Islam to America's high schools ? free of charge. Saudi Arabia would not allow the U.S. to reciprocate.
11. Provide very sizeable monetary Muslim grants to colleges and universities in America to establish ''Centers for Islamic studies'' with Muslim directors to promote Islam in higher-education institutions.
12. Let the entire world know through propaganda, speeches, seminars, local and national media that terrorists have hijacked Islam, when in truth, Islam hijacked the terrorists.
13. Appeal to the historically compassionate and sensitive Americans for sympathy and tolerance towards Muslims in America who are portrayed as mainly immigrants from oppressed countries.
14. Nullify America's sense of security by manipulating the intelligence community with misinformation. Periodically terrorize Americans with reports of impending attacks on bridges, tunnels, water supplies, airports, apartment buildings and malls.
15. Form riots and demonstrations in the prison system demanding Islamic Sharia as the way of life, not America's justice system.
16. Open numerous charities throughout the U.S., but use the funds to support Islamic terrorism with American dollars.
17. Raise interest in Islam on America's campuses by insisting freshman take at least one course on Islam.
18. Unify the numerous Muslim lobbies in Washington, mosques, Islamic student centers, educational organizations, magazines and papers by Internet and an annual convention to coordinate plans, propagate the faith and engender news in the media.
19. Send intimidating messages and messengers to the outspoken individuals who are critical of Islam and seek to eliminate them by hook or crook.
20. Applaud Muslims as loyal citizens of the U.S. by spotlighting their voting record as the highest percentage of all minority and ethic groups in America.

I see a rapid escalation of all of this coming. I think it's going to get much worse. Are we part to blame? Probably, but that's all moot now. They are probably going to act beyond what we can fathom. I keep hearing it from everywhere, "it's not a matter of if but when they will act. And there is nothing you or I can do about it now. It's too late.

Coupla kilos of U-235 and you are in business. The local boy scout troop is working on one, I think it gets some of the boys an eagle patch. The little ones are so eager, wheeling their red wagons around town: "hi, we're from Local Troop 118, we're collecting fissionable uranium..." There's that awkward silence when you're trying to clear your head from last night's binge drinking, you're thinking "how can I get rid of these little buggers?" Then you recall, "oh sure! There's some out back in the shed!" Great, the boy scouts will take that shit off your hands, it's really just taking up space. I mean, you had thought of making a bomb, just for kicks, something to bring down to the pier next year and show up that asshole Dick Sturvington with his smuggled fireworks, his 180s, like big deal, dude, blow off a finger already. But hell, you'll never get around to it. The boys follow you around back and help you break into the shed since you lost the padlock key. There's a whole bucket of empties you try to pawn off on them but they tell you that's a girl scout thing. Oh, heh heh, it's been a while. For a brief minute you feel real stupid in front of a couple kids with thick glasses and hopeless flat tops. "Okay, well have fun, boys! I hope this helps!" You start getting teary-eyed, remembering your own scout days, but the boys don't seem to really be paying attention, they just load up what you got and tie it down in the wagon. There's a tense moment when at the bump at the end of the driveway the wagon almost tips over, then they're off. Just you and the chores now. Shit. Here comes that Dick Sturvington, he'll hang around, act like he's just dropping by, but he picks up every tool, real casual, and says something like "Oh yah, Black & Decker, that's an okay drill there. Ever check out the uh 18V DeWalt version? I'm tellin ya, night and day. Night and day." Yeah, Dick, every godamn tool in your fancy-ass garage is a fucking DeWalt.

I think that there are likely a good many loose nukes. It just doesn't make sense to me that, through all the political upheavals and such over the last few decades that none of the people charged w/ keeping them under the control of only the most adept lunatics (i.e. states) have never failed at that task. So, they must be somewhere.
And I think that there are a fair number of people, some of them capable of carrying off a rather complex plan, who hold to the opinion that the US would be the best place to set them off.
There are a lot of reasons why we haven't locked down our borders. First and foremose, physics. It would just be logistically impossible to man every little stretch of border. Second, even if it were possible, it would cut our economy off from the slave labour upon which it depends. Can you even imagine the upheaval if every consumber item now made in China for sale in the US were suddenly unavailable? Never mind the sudden spike in cost of living. It would be physically impossible to gear up all those production facilities, train American workers, etc.
There never has been any practical way to physically prevent acts of sabotage. We curtail it. We discourage it in those relatively few individuals (of the 6 bn of us) for whom the social taboos fail to do the job. But, for the most part, the single most effectiv means we have for keeping human beings from falling upon each other in murderous rampage is the concept of mutual benefit. Most people (as individuals or as groups) will do just about anything, put up w/ just about anything, endure all kinds of oppression and privation to avoid war. Only mad generals and princes ever encourage it.
There are a few encouraging signs, though. Have you noticed that, sometime over the last 4 years, the world (yes! even the US and Britan!) have shifted to the left wrt the West Bank settlements? Never thought I'd see it in my lifetime, but there it is, in all the headlines and hourly news casts. Israeli soldires are holding back Israeli protestors who oppose giving back the illegal settlements.
At the same time, I keep catching timid little pieces in the news and on the educational channels showing Albania as maybe not entirely, 100% innocent victims of insane Serbian agression, but, possibly, maybe, just a little like radical Islamic allies of all of our manufactured future ex freedome fighters.
That, imo, is a far more effective way to disuade the angry ppl from wanting to blow up American cities. And I'm glad to see at least these small gestures toward a more sensible policy.

Al Qaeda Has Nukes in U.S.
Ok, the source for the story seems pretty iffy to me and the alarmist nature of the report seems way over the top, but I was a Boy Scout and was always taught to be prepared for the worst case scenario. If true, this would definitely qualify as worst case. Anyway, interesting reading when taken with the proper skepticism. WND:
According to captured al-Qaida leaders and documents, the plan is called the "American Hiroshima" and involves the multiple detonation of nuclear weapons already smuggled into the U.S. over the Mexican border with the help of the MS-13 street gang and other organized crime groups.
Al-Qaida has obtained at least 40 nuclear weapons from the former Soviet Union ? including suitcase nukes, nuclear mines, artillery shells and even some missile warheads. In addition, documents captured in Afghanistan show al-Qaida had plans to assemble its own nuclear weapons with fissile material it purchased on the black market....
But the most disturbing news is that high level U.S. officials now believe at least some of those weapons have been smuggled into the U.S. for use in the near future in major cities as part of this "American Hiroshima" plan, according to an upcoming book, "The al-Qaida Connection: International Terrorism, Organized Crime and the Coming Apocalypse," by Paul L. Williams, a former FBI consultant.
According to Williams, former CIA Director George Tenet informed President Bush one month after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks that at least two suitcase nukes had reached al-Qaida operatives in the U.S.
"Each suitcase weighed between 50 and 80 kilograms (approximately 110 to 176 pounds) and contained enough fissionable plutonium and uranium to produce an explosive yield in excess of two kilotons," wrote Williams. "One suitcase bore the serial number 9999 and the Russian manufacturing date of 1988. The design of the weapons, Tenet told the president, is simple. The plutonium and uranium are kept in separate compartments that are linked to a triggering mechanism that can be activated by a clock or a call from the cell phone."
According to the author, the news sent Bush "through the roof," prompting him to order his national security team to give nuclear terrorism priority over every other threat to America....
According to Williams' sources, thousands of al-Qaida sleeper agents have now been forward deployed into the U.S. to carry out their individual roles in the coming "American Hiroshima" plan.
Bin Laden's goal, according to the book, is to kill at least 4 million Americans, 2 million of whom must be children. Only then, bin Laden has said, would the crimes committed by America on the Arab and Muslim world be avenged.
There is virtually no doubt among intelligence analysts al-Qaida has obtained fully assembled nuclear weapons, according to Williams. The only question is how many. Estimates range between a dozen and 70. The breathtaking news is that an undetermined number of these weapons, including suitcase bombs, mines and crude tactical nuclear weapons, have already been smuggled into the U.S. ? at least some across the U.S.-Mexico border.
The future plan, according to captured al-Qaida agents and documents, suggests the attacks will take place simultaneously in major cities throughout the country ? including New York, Boston, Washington, Las Vegas, Miami, Chicago and Los Angeles.

I have 50 gallons of stored water, large first aid kit, radio, batteries and a ton of canned food, etc.. plus a 20 guage with plenty of ammunition for defense if necessary. I hope none of this is necessary, but I sure don't trust anyone else to provide these things for me after a large disaster. Whether it be terrorist or a asteroid impact.

You know how those tornadoes in the midwest can really rip things up and destroy whole sections of houses and buildings and kill everyone in them? One man and his family were the only ones to survive a tornado that destroyed every house on their street. While everyone else complained that the ground was too rock hard to have any kind of basement or shelter dug into it, this man systematically set about pick-axing into the ground beneath his house on the weekends and whenever to make a protective shelter for his family. By the time the tornado hit, he had pick-axed enough space for them all to crawl into to save their lives.

If you have read through the different post, then you would see there is a genuine but founded fear that indeed this may happen. In our western culture of instant everything we can't understand why it has not happened yet. However this does not diminish the threat. Terrorist are on their own time-line not ours. They will strike when they choose. And again, around the world the phrase is "When it happens" not "if". Before 911 who among us would have believed it possible? Not me, but this is a different time. Have you seen the news coming out of London today? They too are gearing up for a protracted conflict. If you think it's all false thats your right. However I choose to side on caution. I am only posting this as a possibility. I don't want to scare anyone but these are different times.

Do you think that, if we (or anyone else, for that matter) had captured or killed this one man that Al Queda and all of it's supporters would have just given up their cause and gone home? By comparison, what happened when we cut down the head of the Medien Cartel?
I quite agree that this admin and the one before have dropped the ball in numerous ways. But this guy doesn't make a decent argument for how they might have done better.

I heard this metallic roar, looked up and saw what I thought was just a peculiar site of individual floors, one after the other exploding outward. I thought to myself, ?My God, they?re going to bring the building down.? And they, whoever they are, had set charges. In fact the building was imploding down. I saw the explosions, and I thought, ?This is not a good place to be, because we?re too close to the building, and it?s too easy for the building to topple over.? 4

Rising Costs Reflect Growing Demand for Firm's Services

The Army has ordered nearly $5 billion in work from Halliburton Co. to provide logistics support to U.S. troops in Iraq over the next year, $1 billion above what the Army paid for similar services the previous year.
The new order, which comes despite lingering questions about the company's past billing, replaces an earlier agreement that expired last June but had been extended through this spring to ensure a continuous supply of food, sanitation, laundry and other logistical services for the troops, according to Linda K. Theis, an Army spokeswoman.
The new order does not change the nature of Halliburton's work, but the higher price tag does reflect the growing demand for the company's services as U.S. forces continue to battle a stubborn insurgency two years after the fall of Saddam Hussein.
The increased bill parallels ballooning overall costs in Iraq. President Bush said in March 2003 that combat in Iraq would cost about $60 billion. But the cost for military operations alone had hit $135.3 billion as of March 2005, according to the Office of Management and Budget. The price tag would be far higher if the costs to fund the Coalition Provisional Authority, reconstruction projects and intelligence operations were included.
Halliburton subsidiary Kellogg Brown & Root has received more money from the U.S. involvement in Iraq than any other contractor. The company has been a lightning rod for criticism by administration foes who think Halliburton's high-level connections -- most notably its former chief executive, Dick Cheney, who is now vice president -- may have given it undue influence in winning sole-source business.
Under the Army's previous order for logistics support, Halliburton was paid $6.3 billion for work during the first two years of the occupation, including $3.98 billion between the beginning of May 2004 and the end of May 2005. Under the new deal, Halliburton will receive $4.97 billion to support U.S. troops in Iraq until May 2006.
Both orders stem from a 10-year contract known as LOGCAP, which KBR won in a competitive bid in 2001. As of the beginning of June, the Army had obligated nearly $12 billion to the company under the logistic contract, the vast majority of it for work in Iraq.
The new order took effect two months ago but had not been made public. Theis, the spokeswoman for the U.S. Army Field Support Command, which oversees the contract, said that there was "not a conscious decision" to keep the new deal quiet but that her office had simply been too busy with other news.
Rep. Henry A. Waxman (D-Calif.), a vocal critic of Halliburton, said the Army should not be giving the company orders for more work at the same time it is citing the company for unreasonable bills. "The accountability vacuum at the Defense Department is costing the taxpayer dearly," Waxman said in a statement.
The Pentagon last week confirmed a report by congressional Democrats saying that the Defense Contract Audit Agency has questioned more than $1 billion of Halliburton's bills for work in Iraq under LOGCAP and an energy contract called Restore Iraqi Oil. Among the costs that Pentagon auditors questioned were $152,000 for movie rentals, $1.5 million for tailoring and two multimillion-dollar transportation bills that appeared to overlap.
Pentagon spokeswoman Lt. Col. Rose-Ann L. Lynch said that the questioned costs are not necessarily overcharges and that contracting officials have either resolved, or are in the process of resolving, most of the discrepancies.
Halliburton has said that questioning costs is part of the normal contracting process and that the company is doing all it can to support U.S. troops in a dangerous environment.
About seven months ago, the Army gave Halliburton a list of the services it wanted under the primary task order for the LOGCAP contract, Theis said. But the company estimated the cost of those services would top $10 billion a year, far above what the Army had budgeted. Army officials ended up paring down their list, and they reached agreement with the company on the $4.97 billion figure this spring.
The Army would not provide a copy of the task order without a Freedom of Information Act request. But a draft of the order was provided to The Washington Post by David Phinney, a correspondent for CorpWatch.org, a Web site that monitors contractor involvement in Iraq.
The LOGCAP contract is not the only way the Army can buy logistical services, but it has received heavy use at a time when the Pentagon is outsourcing many of its non-war-fighting functions. Some have questioned whether such reliance on a single contractor makes sense. In a report issued last July, the Government Accountability Office found that the government could save $31 million -- or 43 percent -- on food services at six locations in Kuwait if it bypassed LOGCAP and KBR, working instead through a subcontractor.
Halliburton said in January that it would try to sell KBR, citing in part the controversy surrounding the company's work. Halliburton spokeswoman Jennifer W. Dellinger said in a statement yesterday that "no timeline has been set for a separation of KBR, nor has a decision been made on what form any potential separation might take."

Yeah, one of the tv news magazine shows did a segment on that. They interviewed a couple of small oil services companies who had tried to submit bids. As I remember it, they were told that bidding would open sometime later. Next thing ya' know, H subsidieries already have the contracts.
