I was in the Whitmore Academy for 02-03... and still thinking about it makes my fucking stomach flip inside out, it's DISCUSTING AND PATHETIC HOW FUCKING WEAK Cheryl's little cult followers sound. I don't even know how to explain myself it's just so sickening !! HOW COULD PEOPLE SIT BACK AND ALLOW THIS KIND OF SHIT TO HAPPEN TO FUCKING INNOCENT PEOPLE AND NOT FOR NOTHIN BUT WHO ARE PAYING 60,000 $ AT THE MINIUMUN WAGE TO HAVE THERE KIDS GET SOME REAL TREATMENT, Not because they are bad kids, personally i don't even remember any really bad kids being there, they were falling into the typical teenage stage if you ask me. and not only that but you are SUPPORTING THE WHITMORES BULLSHIT . WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH U SCUMBAGS ?! WAKE THE FUCK UP !!!! YES THERE WAS ABUSE THERE, THAT WHOLE CONTRACT THAT ALL OF THE PARENTS SIGNED WHEN THEY BROUGHT THEIR KIDS THERE WAS ALL BULLSHIT, IT'S ALL ABOUT MONEY AND POWER DON'T YOU SEE ?! any questions feel free to ask me aNyThInG.

Just tell us about how Whitmore was when you were there: the academics, the therapy, any trips you went on..what type of abuse you witnessed.

that is an excellent post, Former Whitmore Resident, telling it how you really feel it. i was in Straight, they closed down a long time ago, so the people who were in there are now at a much different stage in how they see history, in other words, a far bigger percentage of them see it for what it really was -- a hellhole, a cult, and a prison. it drives me nuts to read a bunch of program-apologist posts. not nuts exactly, it is just really painful and too much to take. I just want to end up cursing at people, so I don't frequent some of the other forums like the Teen Help Industry.

I'm not taking sides here....but it's funny how you get such a warm reception if you post anything anti-whitmore regardless of language and grammar. Seems like if you post anything pro-whitmore your posts are spellchecked, grammar checked, any swearing is looked down on, etc. Maybe its just me but it's lookin like a double standard.

Thank you. Most of us parents do and did sincerely appreciate the Whitmore- the negative stuff that is being written is due to hurt and deceit that has actually been experienced. We appreciate people who have our views because it helps to know there are others who feel as we do. This is probably the reason for the "warm reception" and/or the "looked down upon" as you call it.

I think it's a blatant double standard. If someone were to post a similar message with the swearing and grammar problems about how much they love the Whitmore.....within a day there would be a page of replies such as "If the Whitmore is such a Christian atompshere, why are you using the F word?" or "Why is your grammar so bad? I thought you got a quality education out there?" and other nitpickin.

Howbizzare, I just think a lot of us old folks just weird-out when we see the "F" word in print. Think we need to get over it, and try to listen to what's really being said, whether it is being said by current or former students. Let's all take an deep breath and try to read and listen.

Do you see how weird that comes off? Honestly, if it actually read that way, many people might wonder if Inga had written it. It just doesn't make sense for someone to be hostile and angry when trying to describe something good.
I'm being a little snide here. I think the posts you're describing as "pro Whitmore" are actually "anti Whitmore critic" posts. And they have been pretty horrible at times. No one's saying things like "Whitmore is fucking awsome". Instead, they were saying things like "Leah's a fucking slut" or "Joey's a fucking whiner".

I GOT NO AND I MEAN NO SCHOOL LITERALLY NONE, WHILE I WAS THERE, there was no school so how was i supposed to get my education? so yeah a year od my education was lost there, they expected our parents to buy us laptops ( all the money that my poor parents saved up for all those years spent it on the whitmore academy thinking and convinced that it was going to be something it sure as hell wasn't, what they claim to be). and my mother would always ask me how i'm doing in school and i knew if i told her i'd be in for it so i said i'm doing "great" and all that other bullshit.
so i don't give a shit what anyone sais because i was there i went through it i experienced it this is REALITY PEOPLE I'M NOT SUGAR COATING A N Y T H I N G..
it was all around just very very VERY UNPROFESSIONAL, I still have no idea how the hell they got licensed to be a treatment center.
i remember one time cheryl bought this meat and it got misplaced or something, of course they had to point the finger at someone , that someone was me so i had to look for the meat for about 7 hours until i had found it, so i was looking through the dumpster outside the manson and i found some meat inside of there, cheryl just told me to rinse it off and serve it and everyone had to eat it because it to expensive to waste...
we sure as hell were not given proper nutrition or even 3 regular meals a day ( which the state requires). group was exactly how everyone sais it is. i've seen a lot of shit happen there and alot that happened to me, i was pretty brainwashed and eveidentially a lot of people still are . it is everything that a cult defines. the trips were the worst, sanitation in general and cleanliness was horrible. for some reason cheryl used to bug out when we took showers, not like she didnt have the money to pay for a 2 minute shower, and with all the BE GRATEFUL BULLSHIT, OK WHEN UR PAYING $60,000 TO BE THERE, U SHOULDN'T HAVE TO "BE GRATEFUL" TO BE DEPRIVED OF PROPER FOOD, EDUCATION, SANITATION, COMMUNICATION WITH FAMILY, AND ALL AROUND THERAPY IN GENERAL.. I SWEAR TO FUCKING GOD, I WILL BLOW UP THE FUCKING EVIL SHITHOLE AND I PLAN ON PULLIN A LAWSUIT ON THESE CONARTISTS WHO NEED TO GET A TASTE OF THEIR OWN MEDICINE.. Yeah everyone was supposed to buy an airport card too, i never did though, my parents spent way too much of their hard earned money on all of that and i tryed to tell them not to buy me a laptop but of course cheryl had to have it her way, because what would i need a laptop for, seriously? to pretend like im doing school? laptops aren't cheap ya know, niether are airport cards, they just have no reguard for anybody else, that's sickening. my "THERPAIST" ha.. ha COUGH. Was Tim Lowe.. WOW ... that sick sick basstard i highly DOUBT he had his license, if you knew him you would agree, he was just one of the sudweeks' little cult members, typical, in it for the money and to con kids and their parents. i was there for 2002- 2003.

Tim Lowe has a Masters in Social Work, and is licensed through the State of Utah. We checked that out. He quit in October 2004--said he quit to work on his PhD. He is LDS (Mormon) religion.

Who is Joey? He is the 14 year old boy who brought the abuse charges against the Sudweeks in November 2004. He came to Whitmore in October 2004.

ok well first of all, everyone who is criticizing this person for their grammar and swearing should open their god damn minds here, considering the fact that whitmore did not educate the students in any way. everyone has the right of freedom of speech, so if someone wants to state how they feel about this, then by all means, they should be able to swear as much as they want in order to get their point across! this academy is a joke, and anyone who went there basically just pissed their money down the drain. the utah school system is corrupt and letting these people get away with too much shit, and it needs to come to an end![ This Message was edited by: usapatriotkill on 2005-04-21 16:35 ]

usapatriotkill, I agree. The message is way more important than grammar or words used. I think it is common knowledge that the Sudweeks screwed the parents and kids over as far as any academics went, or goes at Whitmore. We all bought into the education BS. It just didn't happen.

Earlier post asked me what I appreciated about the Whitmore---NOTHING. As I am attempting to word things in a positive manner as so I do not offend any of the people who do like them.
Unfortunately- I was one of the manipulated and deceived parents. My kid told me alot of stuff about them- and I did not believe the kid because of all the lying from the past.
It wasn't until 3 years ago when I found out the truth and reported them to every agency in Utah that I could.
I am very upset with the state of Utah for letting it get this far--- as they were told and told again.
And I was told by the powers that be- that I am from XXXXX and the County Attorney is not going to waste his time and Utah's resourses on me because I am from out of state and he has an election to think about.
Well- I guess the lovely person that told me that was right-- because- I spoke to the County Attorney one year ago personaly. He "claims" he never got the information I gave lisensing and that there would have to be an investigation--eventho the case was investigated by licensing--and I have documents to back that up.

It does stand to reason that most if not ALL the "students" at Whitmore are from out-of-state. That is how the fine State of Utah makes all this BIG Money in the Teen Help Industry, you know---from desperate out-of-state parents.

you won't find anything out about a student at whitmore here because no students there are allowed to use their computers without cherly's permission and her checking what they write and that includes private emails home even. if you are worried about anyone there your best bet is to call the nephi cops.

Please, if you have any concerns at all, call the Nephi Police Department. Ask to speak to Det. Kimball. If he is not available, tell the person who answers the phone about your concerns. Tell her you want someone to check on your friend. Your name will not be revealed to anyone. The police are very careful about those things, and can be trusted. Thank you all for your help and support, this has been really hard for me because i really do care so much about my friend, but i also would really love to see this school just shut down all together, i dont want my friend to go back there and I personally am going to start with this one person and make sure they dont go back! During these parent weekends dont the parents see Cheryl over reacting on something small and dont the light bulbs start flashing inside their head?!!

most of the parents that send their kids there are sick of seeing their kid go through hell at home and they HEARD this school is a great school, but they hadt heard of theproblems there yet of course.. this woman sounds like she needs a small hospital stay not the kids!
