In reply to the anon above me, this is a previously talked about topic, and I see no reason to put my enery into explaining the facts again. Just read back a few pages if I am correct.

It was personally time for me to go home after the 14 months I spent there. It was time for me to move on. I still plan to visit there this coming summer. I didn't feel like spending the few more months it would've take to finish off the four credits I required.

You know I don't know. I would still have a good job, as I did before I left for the Whitmore. I can say that if I hadn't gone to the Whitmore for 14 months, I wouldn't be in the same place because that's impossible, each decision affects the outcome of your life.

I have come to be much more respectful of authority, and I learned a lot of things about myself as well as how minds work in general. I feel like I have a headstart on life compared to many people older and younger then me, both literally and mentally.

I can't say where exactally I would've been. I do know that I don't and will never regret my 14 months spent in Utah.

I have not read any newspaper articles since the first month or so after I left Utah (October, November etc), but at the moment I am on my way out the door to go to work. Maybe if I get really bored, I will take a look.

I am aware that there are still three kids still attending the Whitmore. I've been exchanging email with one of them recently. I know they want to be there. I was close with all three of them. Two of those kids you mentioned have already fulfilled their contract with Whitmore, if you think that is really a big deal.

And to the other anon, I've been doing great, thanks for asking. I work 30-40 hrs a week doing finish carpentry. I bought a new car, I keep myself busy. I'm very happy.

My advise was for the people who have the time to perpetuate the bullshit that has been floating around the internet for a very long time. I learned many things from Cheryl while I was still in Utah. I learned to appriciate what life has to offer. I'm not saying that getting laid is going to solve any problems, it was a jest, sometimes people just get overly sexually frustrated.

I am also aware of the County Attorney charging Cheryl with abuse/hazing against the 4 children. I was contacted about it. I still have to say, there are people who are accused unjustly, that's just something that happens in an imperfect world. Not much you can do about it. Cheryl isn't perfect, niether are you and I. She's a great woman, and I am and always will be good friends with her. Charged or not.

The Whitmore Academy might not be your average boarding school, it may have been unconventional, but I never regret my 14 months there.(Yes I stayed longer by my choice) I was originally sent there because my mom felt I was addicted to pot, and because I was defiant. I didn't agree with such a drastic consequence as a boarding school for either of these reasons. Now after being there
for 14 months, and now being back home for 6, I would never change what happened. I learned so many life changing lessons that I belive most people should learn growing up.

It's possible that one of the "abused kids" really did have something happen to him/or her. I will tell you that Cheryl had nothing to do with it, and did not allow, or condone it in any way. She stopped it as soon as she knew about it. If one of the kids who is claiming abuse happens to read this, I'm sorry for whatever happened. You, and no  one else on here is welcome to correct me, or offer conversation, but I don't believe whatever happened is worth of putting Cheryl through what you have. I would say take it up with the families of whatever kids did it to you, but there are obvious reasons that isn't possible.

I hope that everyone is able to figure this thing out, or at least be open that while she is being charged, and there is a criminal trial, that doesn't mean shit exuse my launguage.

Thanks for your time.

I can't belive you guys are still dwelling on this old shit. Don't you guys have a life? I know I've said it before, and I don't expect it to make a difference, but for whatever it's worth. All of the accusations of abuse, hazing and all that shit, is just that, a load of shit. Sorry guys.

Wish you guys could just go get laid or something. That might help.

"2nd POINT: Just what are these parents paying approximately $4,000 a month for their kid to be DOING at Whitmore if Academics is not a priority? SURELY not paying for any therapy. So, $4,000 per month should be paying for some heck of an education!

You'd think at those "tuition fees" there could be a few certified teachers throw into the mix too. NOT SO at Whitmore. "

just so you know, that is not an unreasonable price in comparison. Some boarding schools are upwards of fifty thousand a year. Wasatch Academy is around $32,000 a year, less but still in the same range. http://www.boardingschoolreview.com/sch ... ool_id/156

P.S. The Whitmore Academy does emply certified teachers. the science teacher is also employed at a local public school, as is the math teacher. the social studies and english teacher is also certified, but I don't think she is employed anywhere else, to my knowledge.[ This Message was edited by: Evan Sussman on 2005-10-24 01:27 ]

"whitmore isnt even fucking accredited"

I keep seeing people write something of this sort. they are. here is proof. http://www.boisestate.edu/naas/documents/pdf/School.pdf
that is from the website of the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools. Most private schools in that area are accredited through them.(NAAS)

no, I did not get my diploma. i still have four credits before I can get it

HI all, I don't really feel like putting much energy into this, but I did tell everyone that I'd write at least once when I got home. I'm here now, and my opinion of the Sudweeks, and the Whitmore Academy has not changed at all. I had absolutely no harm done to me, and no one else was harmed within the control of Cheryl. Sure, mabye one kid got pissed at another, and started a fight, but these were few, and stopped ASAP. Cheryl never ordered "beatings" or any of the sort. Also, I would personally like to know how everyone here gets such an up to date schedule of the Whitmore Academy's plans.

Anyway, nuff said

Ok, you guys are right. The state of Utah has not been very good at removing programs or schools as soon as they should have. In this case I feel that is a good thing. The Whitmore Academy has been falsely accused. These past eight or nine months have been devestating for the Whitmore Academy. I wish that it could be dropped, or at least that no more lies would be spread. I see why the Whitmore was originally investigated, and it is because a kid ran to the DCFS and claimed abuse. I g2g I will finish this later.
