Title: A Beard Too Far: A Thread for Men & Women
Post by: Froderik on September 07, 2010, 03:46:48 PM
In case anyone forgot what this forum is about...

This thread is for men and women, and their beards.

(Women with facial hair are welcome to post!)

Some potential points for discussion:

1. Your beard's length, fullness, style, or anything else about it.

2. Does your partner, employer, family member, whoever mind you growing a beard?

3. What you think about beards, and their limited acceptability in society.

4. Any good beard stories or photos.

5. Jokes, puns or proverbs involving beards.

Blackbeard the pirate may be in the running for coolest beard ever. Apparently he would roll his beard and hair into makeshift dreadlocks to which he would attach smoldering embers of some sort, giving him a hellish look. Scared the shit out of his foes.

It was lit cannon fuses he would stick in his beard in the heat of battle, and yes his opponents were scared.. Hell I would be too dealing with a madman who stick lit fuses on his face!!!   ::OMG::

I always thought Eric Clapton looked cooler with a beard. Same goes for Levon Helm.

Yup, agreed.  I LOVE beards...when my hubby has his, he gets a lot of "hey, you look like Eric Clapton".

Many ( or some) years ago , when i worked lauderdale, i wore a beard.I would get pulled by the cops at least twice a week. Finaly, a TAC officer explained it to me. Even though i worked for them, patrol officer only remembered that they'd seen me before, thus they must have arrested me before, or I was a gangster, or some damn thing. So, pull. It didn't matter that I'd worked a job with that same guy a few days prior, or that he'd seen me wandering the corridors of their cop-shop for weeks, did'nt matter. It was the Beard~! Cop-think is that ( at least patrol division) if you wear a beard, that is a sign of an aggressive male. Probably criminal. Git 'im up, boy!
From their point of view, reasonable, and probably statistcally bears out. From my point of view, as a free man, it's tiresome as hell. I'm clean-shaven these days, I don't mind that much, I can grow another within 9 days.
Ever yours in Insurrection, J.O.M

I don't have a beard, but I was a beard for one of my prom dates.  Too bad not much has changed, at least in Mississippi.

Dear Samara
I don't know what that means. It kinda sounds like 'woman stuff' so I think i don't want to know what it means.

It's nothing freaky. A beard is a cover for a gay guy. So, if Ricky Martin took Eva Longoria to the Grammys, she'd be his beard. (before he came out.)  I was a cover -albeit a platonic one- for my gay friend. Of all the five proms I went, my faves were with my high school sweetheart and my gay friend. The Boy could dance!

Who will run our fancy women's shoe stores if not retarded gays?  have you no sense, man, no compassion?
Oh yeah, i know a lady, down by the docks, and she's a lezbo. but she likes men, ya know, in that way.Is she Gay?

Yeah, and I do need a gay husband. I hate shopping. Come to think of it, I've never met a retarded gay.  I think the smart gene is inherent in that population.
