« on: September 08, 2005, 01:16:00 PM »
Hey Kat,
Well I might need a few pages......
-well the walkways obviously
-we now have a little fence all around the school circle.
-moved horse shit pile
-moved burn piles
-fixed all fences out by the tool shed
-new fences for the horses even on behind the lounge.
-personal intervention built a round horse pen (circle) to work with the horses, behind the tack shed.
-new fence for the hill behind the school, by the house
-Huge kitchen build by the ski cabin
-AAAAlllllll the ground was cleared from the road to the ski cabin so you could see the ski cabin as you came to it
-All the ground cleared out from the front of the ski cabin.
-Camping sites set up at the ski cabin

So these are just a few things......
Let me think more
PLEASE don't turn this into some bull shit topic of how we were abused or used or whatever it is you want to say.
I did these things and im proud of all the work ive done.....so please don't turn it into soemthing other than that.....work I did

Mission Mountain School / Calls with our parents
« on: September 06, 2005, 11:09:00 PM »
Hey Kat,
yeah I remember. I wasn't able to have a first call till i finished my histories....3 months was the time frame.
Well when I left....the calls were earlier but they were confernce calls and than monitered by the staff.
You're day to call home was when The staff member assigned to you was on duty  or a secondary staff were always there to monitor.
We were than allowed only 15-30 minutes.

HEEELLLLOOOOOO, You want a resoponse so bad Anon, here it is.

Now I agree this whole topic has gotten to a back and forth, whos right, whos wrong and its not about that..
Now its no secret I am a big advocate of MMS. I love the school and the people there.
If you have read other posts of mine you would know some of my history. But let me tell you again.
To be perfectly honest, I had never had sex before MMS. I was one of the first youngest girls to have gone to MMS. MMS opened in 1990 and I went in '94.I had just turend 13 before I went to Wilderness.
I had no sexual history, well i had a little one.I don't know how to say this without being rude or aggressive to other girls and their histories. The girls i went to school with were 15-18 years old. And honestly their histories scared me, I had no idea what you could or couldn't do while having sex and i sure found out. (I didn't mean to offend anyone, if i did im sorry)
Along with that. I didn't know of John Credentials or even cared tell later......long after MMS.
Once I found out I thought it was interesting, but it didn't matter. I talk to my parents about it and they knew but they still trusted.
I love John and would do anything for him and any of the other 5 founding staff.
During group john, mike and gary asked specifics but not inapproriate questions. Johns not the only one that was not certified that asked questions!
i even remember Deb group.
One of my first groups was with mike and deb, and it was around graduation time, i had befriended Jason, their son. I was being confronted by another student. Now i remember she had a hard time telling me and Deb said "its okay i know what your going to say"
She than told me i had sexual energy towrds Jason.
I didn't even knw what sexual energy was. I was than told i had to tell Jason I had sexual energy twords him and was not allowned to go near him.
So I don't think John was the only one that possibly crossed lines.
I know John deictated alot of what happened at MMS. But the other 4 staff agreeded. It was John and mIke that I felt were the "heads" of the school.
I don't remember questions being so inapproprate that I was uncomfortable, I do remember being uncomfortable just hearing what girls had to say.

Now after MMS I was raped and I told my mom and she said "im sorry you put yourself in that situation". Let me tell you.....NEVER, NEVER would i have heard that from John, or anyone at MMS.
John would have questions just like my therapist did. What, where, when, how. All of the above.
So bottom line NO i don't think it was in appropriate for john to ask what he did. Or even be hold group.  John groups were insense and very hard....but never inappropriate. ( we didn't have confrence calls then where girls sat in)
The staff were supportive and helpful. Yes they all had there own way of doing it but none the less they were helpful and supportive.
John was not a pervert about any of this.

I know ive kinda answered in circles.
If you want more specifc topics answered just ask.
Ill try.
I know this isn't the response you wanted but it is a response.

"When I was there Laurel was definitely Mike's favorite and in many ways they were very tight...from what I saw, as a result of this, she was considered the model MMS student, so that is why I say that perhaps that kind if sense of superiority may have been reflected in her actions and perhaps she took its logical conclusion. While I was at MMS it was students like La that called people out and were responsible for holding girls accoutable to the programs philosophy. That sort of leverage always seemed to border on sadism to me b/c girls always wanted to be in that position of being 'healthy' enough to recognize not only their own 'flaws', but have the 'clarity' to point out those of others. Not everyone had that in them (that is, got an ego boost from their 'higher' position in the structure), from what I recall, but it always seemed to me to be a slippery slope that one could easily fall into if not careful."

I must say I agree with that statement.
I too saw La and Mike extremly close.  Maybe thats  why she views them as totally awesome people.
Mike has been everything but nice to me. He is mean, and rude, and thinks, yeah hes always right.
So Laura if you say La was like this, im not surpised.  Even when I lived with heather he told how full of shit I am and how hes gonna be there to raise hell...(statement in regards to a situation with me and heather).

Paul my boyfriend talked to him once and says hes not to sure about him. "He always had the im full of shit look on his face" "like he doesn't believe what im saying", all i could say was, thats mike. Imagine having to deal with him for 3 years every day in and out.

Mission Mountain School / no talks

Honestly, I don't remember anything being a "no talk" , only people who werent' talking as designated by staff were on "off talk"

"A day for a good lesson learned is one thing, but dang three months?"

Okay...so your all not gonna agree with me but, I learned alot from being off talk. It forced me to find other ways to communicate. Girls actually told me (uless they were lying), but they told me they thought i seemed peaceful and not as angry. Which is weird cuase everyone gave me "feedback" and always said my looks were the worse., youd think they tell me my looks got even worse.
Go figure.
