I think it is important that we don't allow an industry troll to control the threads here.  Posting of racist threads should be illegal and does not conform to the purpose of this site or contribute to any meaningful discussions.  I am asking that everyone here recognize those threads for what they are and not add to them in any way, thus making sure they fall farther down the list of topics.   By responding, you only feed in to their plan to control the site.

The use of Ursas was clearly meant to be an insult to Ursus, a regular and respected poster here.  Only industry trolls like Whooter/John Reuben use variations of other peoples names like this.  Let's not allow racism to become a dominant topic here on Fornits.

The Troubled Teen Industry / Why are we feeding the pro-program trolls?
« on: October 02, 2009, 03:11:02 PM »
These new topics where the title of the subject is the same or nearly the same as the name of the poster clearly represents a troll, so why are we feeding in to them?  Do they now control Fornits?

If this thread had been posted by someone naming themselves WhyAreWeFeedingTheTrolls, it would seem obvious this is not a real poster but someone who is just making multiple accounts to post new topics they can respond to.  This is typical troll behavior and I think we should stop feeding in to them and replying to their silly topics.  Just ignore them and their topics will fall away to the bottom of the page and then vanish to other pages.

We are now seeing them post brochures for topics, as though advertising for programs.  These should not be responded to.  Responding only keeps them on top of the topic list.  What we need to remain on top are topics related to deaths, abuse and the latest news such as Aspen admitting in court that they don't actually provide therapy or treatment.  This is news worth posting.

I find it revealing that they can't come up with a name for themselves, except to match the title of their new topic, and then they never reply to their own posts, they come back as Guest to reply and cheer lead their own topics.  I say leave them alone, and let them fill up their own topics by themselves.  Let them play with themselves.  Don't respond to their new topics.  It just encourages them.

I know for my buddy, he can't tolerate any of the music we had to listen to at RMA anymore.  To him it comes off as chanting and just the sound of it brings back bad memories.  Anyone else have this problem?

I think for me it was like the Beatles or the Eagles.  Sometimes you just hear that music so often you don't want to hear it again for a while.  Now and then I can, but only now and then.  Ironically, I now have a lot of the CEDU/RMA songs on my Ipod.

What I really didn't like when I left was feeling so out of touch with music.  There were new groups, new songs I had never heard and I felt like I was playing catchup.  I still love 80's music, possibly because it was denied to us when I was there.  Make something illegal and people will crave it in its absence I suppose.

When I hear specific propheet music, I guess it has a different affect on me than songs that were simply played during things like Saturday work crews.  Maybe because on some level, Saturday work crews were somewhat fun.  It was all labor, but Saturday was different I guess.  So maybe the music played tended to be better, or more varied.  I know a lot of times an older student got to control the stereo so we heard something other than what staff might have played.  But even Fleetwood Mac is a little hard for me to listen to and Elton John as well.  There really did seem to be a limited selection.

Some songs I can't do anymore are the Rocky Theme Song.  You Needed Me by Anne Murray.  The Children's Song from Whitney Houston.  He Ain't Heavy, He's my Brother.  I'm So Excited.  That strange song "look what they've done to my song, mom, look what they've done to my song..."  Some of us live in big white houses...

Anyone else have program music related issues?
