Crystal meth use on rise among teenagers

The use of crystal meth – described as an evil, insidious drug – has been steadily increasing over the past six months, people who work with addicts say.

And teenagers are the targets of the cheap, easily made form of speed, counsellors say.

"It's common to hear the kids tell of times they used meth for seven days and didn't eat and didn't sleep," Ben Goresky, a peer counsellor at the Alberta Adolescent Recovery Centre, said. "So you can see the bones in their face and their eyes are sunken into their heads."

A recent survey of the centre's clients found more than half had used crystal meth, some on a daily basis. They described the drug making them feel euphoric, speedy and then desperate for more.

"They are continuing to make drugs that are cheaper and a long-lasting high," AARC's executive director Dean Vause said of dealers. "But in doing that, they've made a drug that's more destructive."

Vause says users become angry, agitated and paranoid, and can be a danger to others.

But it's ok to lock them up their first night in treatment with 3 other kids who have no way to get away from them if there's a problem.

Ok:
now let me understand this:
Goresky -- a peer counsellor.
Goresky -- a co-author on the study praising AARC

The same person
 Father and son?
perhaps.

So there you have it.
Doctors with no common sense.
children under unrealistic expectations from their high-flying professional parents who experiment with drugs

Well, let's force them into our predetermined role, and if they don't confirm give them AARC for good measure.

Oh, Dr. Goreky, what damage have you wrought?

Of course, I could be mistaken, but how many other hysterical, professional high(!) flyers subject their children to such abuse?

Balbi, for example?

Put that in your TV aerobics class.

Note that Dean Vause has given himself a demotion to just plain "director" in this interview.

Goresky pere et fils are staunch Aarcolytes.  Junior can be counted on to parrot anything the Leader says.  Ethics is a meaningless concept when the promotion of AARC is the agenda.
