It's not a competition about what experience is worst; it's certainly no comparison.  ANY kind of abuse is wrong, regardless of the degree.  It also depends on how the individual reacts and is affected by that abuse.  Anonymous - shame on you for comparing anyone's experiences.

Thank you for your support Patricia.

Extreme emotional insensitivity and egotism.
Habitual degradation and verbal devaluation of others.
Tries to tell others what they are feeling and thinking as though it is his decision and not theirs. "She said no, but she meant yes".
Consistently uses intimidation in language or threatening behavior to get his way. Uses words like "bitch" and "whore" to describe women.
Excessive, chronic, or brooding anger.
Becomes obsessed with the object of his romantic affections long after his advances have been rejected.
Extreme mood swings.
Violent outbursts; lack of impulse control...

...Wow.  Let me just say that Michael Palmer had shown each of these characteristics many times over while I was at VCA.  When I read this list it just described him...I would not have been able to say it better myself.  Very creepy stuff.

Mike...as in Michael Palmer, Patty Palmer's husband...the one who raped me when I was a student at the school. He came to my house looking for me after I left the school, and offered my father money to marry me and take me with him to Mexico to start a new school (which he ended up starting later - Genesis by the Sea).

Anymore questions, email me at

You are a very good sister.  She will have your support when she gets out and that will mean all the difference in the world.  Don't get discouraged...you are dealing with very evil people who know how to manipulate the parents into believing that their daughter needs the school to survive adolescence. Email me if you need my support.

I am sorry for your loss.  I admire your strength during a very difficult time in your life.  Your kids are very lucky  to have a mother like you.  Good luck with finding your sister.  I will try to do what I can to help.  Rebecca (VCA survivor 1992)

Actually, the staff and director are HAPPY to see the "students" make mistakes and start the program again. It means more money!

Oh, many times I witnessed the staff make up a stupid excuse to punish or demote a girl.  I have seen girls go from helper to buddy or detention for no good reason.  Maybe she was hungry and had to steal food, or maybe she felt sick and couldn't eat all of her food, or maybe she was having a bad day because she felt unloved - all punishable actions by Victory's standards.  The staff lies to parents and the parents don't know any better because they don't have proper communication with their children.  Many times, parents are trapped into feeling that they have no other choice except to keep the child there after a year because they have already invested so much money, and are hoping that one day their daughter will CHANGE.

My experiences have shown me that change can not be forced, only encouraged.  In addition, the person expected to change, must have the genuine desire to make changes.  These behavioral modification programs are merely a money pit for parents, a holding cell for adolescents, and a joke to real therapy.  Yeah, it may keep teenage girls out of trouble, but at the expense of their quality of life, later on, as adults.

I believe it.

Glad to see more schools close down for abuse.

Oh, beaner, really.  Hmmm, you must be staff at Victory then.  I remember that Michael Palmer used to call anyone who wasn't Caucasian some derogatory name such as that. Thanks for proving my point!  Come to think of it, are you a member of the KKK?
Name calling is not nice, and very immature, and furthermore, not very Christian.  Do you call yourself a Christian?
