There are so many misunderstandings going on in this post it's unbelievable. I came in here and saw how girls bash the others who have sad stories to share. And Claire's was a very sad one. I was only trying to warn her of what to expect. Maybe the wording was not the best, it was late. The intention was simply that, welcome and don't let anyone discourage you from telling your story and don't let them make you feel like you have to defend yourself.

If you read back through many posts you will see where girls who truly had bad experiences are immediately attacked.

Sorry for any misunderstandings.  :nworthy:

Welcome! You have a lot of support here!!!! No doubt about that.  ::drummer::

Please, do not pay attention to those who will try to praise MMS, even when they hear how sad some of these girls' stories are.

They'll read your story, as sad as it is, and some of them will still come back around and try to say "rah rah MMS is great. It was good for me. I don't know what I would have done without it."

That's what's happened in the past here and I just do not want you to be discouraged if it happens again. These girls obviously did not have to experience what you did or else they are dilusional. It's one or the other.

Here's an update: (I think this covers just about everything that's out there so far)

This is the newest article with their "mugshots." Some will see delinquents when they look at their faces and will say good, they deserve it and it's good there are places like Ivy Ridge.

Then there are the people who understand and know. Know what pain and suffering these children go through in these places. They were most likely running for a very good reason. But now they have records and who knows where they'll go.

Don't doubt for one second that WWASP is going to let them go that easily, contract or not. I would bet just about anything that those kids will find their way (a) back at Ivy Ridge, or (b) in Tranquility Bay, on their faces for months to come. That's my best guess, given their track record. They traffic kids, constantly, from one place to the other.

And in TB, well, they won't have to worry about them revolting when they're locked up in some little room, faces to the ground, restrained until they scream in pain and agony each time they move, why wouldn't they keep the money flowing in for those kids?

I wonder where those boys are tonight. Those of you who pray, I'd say a prayer for them. And for the others left behind, and all kids in these places.

I think this one's been posted already, but I'll put them in one place to make it easier:

Twelve Ivy Ridge Students Charged With Riot

5/17/05

All of the students involved in Monday night's uprising at Ivy Ridge Academy have been expelled. That's according to the academy's director, Jason Finlinson.

About 12 students and several staff members were injured during Monday night's melee which began when some students attempted an escape.

Ivy Ridge, a few miles west of Ogdensburg on State Route 37 is a corrective facility for troubled teenagers. Parents pay approximately $60,000 to enroll their children in the program.

The facility is on the former campus of Mater Dei College.

State Police say they were called at 10:24 last evening as Academy officials reported a disturbance involving numerous students who intentionally caused damage to the facility and attacked several staff members.

Twenty State Troopers and Investigators responded along with Sheriff's deputies, Ogdensburg City Police and the U.S. Border Patrol.

About 30 students fled the facility in an escape attempt but all were found and returned to the Academy.

State Police say their investigation revealed that the disturbance was organized and initiated by 12 students, all of whom have been charged with Riot, 1st degree along with other charges:

Dustin Kava, 17 - Riot 1st Degree, Assault 3rd, Criminal Mischief 4th
Spagnoli Etienne, 17 - Riot 1st, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th, Harassment 2nd
Artie Conte, 16 - Riot 1st, Criminal Mischief 2nd
Christopher Definis, 17 - Riot 1st, Criminal Mischief 4th
Vadim Soskil, 18 - Riot 1st, Disorderly Conduct
Thomas Jeon, 17 - Riot 1st, Assault 3rd
Brandon Docusen, 16 - Riot 1st, Harassment 2nd
Daniel Burke, 17 - Riot 1st, Disorderly Conduct
Quintin Pedrick, 16 - Riot 1st, Assault 3rd, Criminal Mischief 4th
All nine of the above were arraigned in town of Oswegatchie court and held in St. Lawrence County Jail in lieu of $2500 bail each.

State Police say three 15 year olds were also charged with Riot 1st, Assault 3rd and Menacing 3rd. Their names were not released. They were issued Family Court appearance tickets and returned to Ivy Ridge Academy.

All of those injured in the incident were treated at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center and released.

State Police say the investigation continues and additional arrests are possible.

Very well said, Kat. I think this is wonderful and that girls will find it useful to be able to talk to like-minded people. Forget all of this bickering back and forth and feeling like you have to defend yourself when you say you were abused, all of you.

Great job, Kat.  ::flipflop::
(now isn't that flip-flop random?)

It's pretty sad when you have to fake a condition and sometimes even have to write 80 pages about a sex life you never even had. Unbelievable!

Mission Mountain School / Where would you be without MMS?

Ya, especially at those prices!? You'd think the education would be top notch!

Where did this whole "peed my pants" thing start? I lost the point somewhere. If girls were forced to hold it for long periods of time at MMS, and then had an accident as a result, and then are complaining about it now, I can totally see their point, their frustration, and I can certainly feel their pain. Holding it is a very bad thing for your bladder. I know, I used to do it and then get bladder infections. And those are so miserable, especially if you don't get treated for them immediately. (I was not forced to hold it, I just did it when I was busy and didn't know that it was what was causing the infections until the doctor started asking questions when I had yet another infection.)

Thayer Learning Center / My Son At Thayer
« on: May 08, 2005, 09:07:00 PM »
I am thoroughly disgusted at what I have read here today. I came on here to learn about Thayer because I heard about the child who died there. Unbelievable how you people talk to one another. You should truly be ashamed of yourselves.

Absolutely unbelievable!! A child died there??!!! Isn't there something wrong with that picture? Many complain of abuse there??!!! And still people choose to praise such a program?

Well, I'm not a person who was at a program. Ever. I've never put a child in a program. I only know of this through kids I care about whose abusive parents sent them to a horribly abusive place.

From what I can see here, people are trying so desperately to get these "pro-Thayer" folks to hear them when they say:

"Kids are abused at Thayer.
Kids are miserable at Thayer.
Kids lose a piece of themselves at Thayer.
A kid died at Thayer."

Somehow, for me, a person who has never been in a program, never looked for a program, who just knows they exist and the damage they can cause, looks at everything written, and given the information, and even the acknowledgment from the "pro-Thayer folks" that they know bad things go on there, that kids are abused there. They do not deny it. As a parent, there is no way in hell that I would ever for one second consider sending my child, if I were looking for a program, to a place with this type of history. EVER!!

You just have no idea, you pro-Thayer folks, at how stupid you sound for continuing to promote it and for hurting others who so desparately want everyone to know about the pain and damage programs can do to people.

You acuse people of taking drugs, still today. How do you know this and how dare you make that kind of statement? Shame on you. You're not as bright as you think you are. Your son did great? You think so now. Things seem great now. Eventually what happened there, because no matter what you think, he saw what happened there and he knows, deep inside of him, that what happened to his friends was out and out wrong. It is black and it is white. It was wrong, no question about it.

Some day he may have a very tough time trying to cope with the reality of what happened to so many others. And he may be haunted by what happened to them. And he may eventually get very angry at you for putting him there. He's in college? Not out long? Well, it takes a while, just wait. They don't tell all until about 5 years later, some sooner. But eventually it comes around full circle. Do the research, I have been, for the sake of kids who I care about. Not even my own!
