The Seed Discussion Forum / Raps
« on: April 14, 2005, 09:25:00 AM »
Actually in the back of my mind I remember helping out in the kitchen area ST 84 making sandwiches...either bologna (which I  have not eaten in over 30 years) and pbj. I don't remember why I was allowed to go help??? But I remember looking forward to it so I wouldn't have to be in the rap area.
And I remember looking forward to eating because I think we didn't have to rap during it...and of course smoking on the hour.
I remember exercise to be jumping jacks...and sitting outside for oldtimers? meetings...

How strange...somethings as simple as a name triggered a memory that I never would have in a million years thought of.
I wonder whatever happened to Penny?

The Seed Discussion Forum / Cult and cult-like experiences
« on: February 22, 2005, 12:36:00 PM »
Another cult based comes to mind...is the Masonic Group or Masons.
My husband was in a boys group of the Masons (the demolaya?) not sure of the spelling...to this day he does not know what they did? Or why? but to be a mason you have to have a family member be one and it is highly secretive type meetings. His father was a mason and his mother and sister were part of the woman's area of masons called Rainbow Girls.
It is not religious based or community based. Not sure what it is really..anyone out there know?
My husband stopped attending the meetings around the age of 12 or so and his father had died years earlier so there was really know one to ask. His mom and sister made the Rainbow Girls out to be some special group of girls and women but I am still not sure what they did other then get gowns and dress up.[ This Message was edited by: Fran on 2005-02-22 09:38 ]

rjfro22...
yes it was a lime quarry and there was also another smaller quarry next to the larger lake they made out of TY.
I know Tom Petty grew up or lived for a while in Gainesville...not far from the University of Florida. Not sure about him living in Hollywood.
But I do have a lot of good memories growing up in Hollywood and of my youth ...the good and bad ...I cannot put the things I experienced, down, during that time as the seed wanted me to do. I am content with the way my life has gone even though my youth may have been questionable at times...I learned along the way.
It is good to be able to talk with others of that time we all lived in. Times have definitely changed and we can never go back, but we can in our memories and in the memories of others.

My first concert at Pirates World was 1970-1971..it was Bloodrock and Savoy Brown. Wow!! Bloodrock sang that song called DOA.
Of course you guys would have remembered the Hollywood Sportitorium out west on Hollywood Blvd and the concerts, rain, mud and more drugs then a pharmacy would have... but of course by most of that time I was in the seed by then. My brother though had some times out there.
Hey Thom we were probably both at this concert with Bloodrock...
remember the big water tower across the Sheridan Street from Pirates World...my older brother and his friend climbed it and painted in big letters his love for his girlfriend at the time.

My druggie days were in the year 1972 and yes...Hollywood Beach...the paddle ball courts...Young Circle...mostly hung out down the street from where I lived at Oakridge Elementary...they had portables to hide behind...paddle ball courts to hide around...also hung out a few times at the lake next to TY Park ( which was not there yet) which was a quarry at the time forgot the name but a bunch of kids would go swimming back there and hang out. Dania Beach was a major hang out...the pier. Yes in some ways there were some fond memories of growing up.

The Seed Discussion Forum / When did the Seed close on SR84?
« on: February 16, 2005, 08:26:00 PM »
I tried to think the other night about this bathroom thing and I do not remember anything at all. I know I blocked out alot of stuff from that time as soon as I stopped going to the seed oldtimer meetings...in fact from about 1978-1991 I don't think I ever gave the seed one thought. And in 91 I remember talking to my kids about my time in the seed and about peer pressure etc. But then never thought about it again until recently and that is when I came to this forum.

I do not remember being asked what I had to do in the bathroom. I was there 73-74 ..when did they begin asking these questions and what was the purpose of the questions for?

The Seed Discussion Forum / Whatever happened to Pete ? STAFF MEMBER
« on: February 13, 2005, 05:25:00 PM »
I am sorry to hear about Pete...I still remember him most and liked him...first of all because he was different...he didn't act like he was superior to us.And not that I remember the rap sessions he led but I do remember being glad when it was his turn to lead.  I also remember him being the oldest member of the seed at 28 I think it was in 73 or 74.

Thanks for your imput...I think the seed experience has given us all an instinct on things like pyramid scheming or cult like motivational meetings that put shivers down our spine and make us run the other way.

After reading the last few posts...I have to say I am glad I left the seed for good in early 75. Though I graduated the program in May 73...I was made to feel I had to go to oldtimer meetings(programemed that BIG BROTHER (seed staff members) were going to find me if I didn't go)...finally one day I stopped going. It was a huge relief. I finally took control of my own self.
I now realize why all these years when people have tried to talk me into business type pyramid schemes with all this motivational talk and hype...I ran the other way. The programming and meetings must have sub consciously reminded me of the seed all those years ago.
I despise any one controlling me or having power over me. Whether it is in the work place or social gathering etc.
My brother tried to get me to go to one of his cult religious meetings THE WAY many years ago and I made every excuse I could find never to attend...knowing that I never want to put myself in a position where I do not have control.
Anyone feel the same way?
