Hello Ginger.
It's been a rough few months for me.
I was let go with no severance from
my job of 9 years back in early February.
So I've scrambled and thrown togther
two part time jobs to make ends meet,
but it's still a struggle. My wife has been
great - really helped me land one of the
jobs I just got. We'll be OK though.

I keep checking back here from time to
time to see if any New England folks
have shown up. I don't know why, but
like you say, they're just few and far
between.

Yeah, not too many NE people around here. I'm not sure why. But I do much more reading than posting. I was there at 53 Evans Drive from 12/20/87 (Merry Christmas) to Sept of 89.

How are you Scott? I've been wondering how
you've been! Well I hope!

All is fine here. Still at the same job.
Now married - for two years. Man, where does
the time go?

How about those Sox?! Up 2-0 on the Angels, they SHOULD get to the ALCS, but who knows. I was
so @#%*ing pissed to see the Yanks come back and
beat the Twins the other night. Although, you know, we've had a good last few years, Diamondbacks, Angels, Marlins as the last three WS champs - NO YANKEES!!!!!!!

We'll see with these Red Sox though.

Not much else up with me. I'm waiting for basketball to start back up. I'm doing some highschool football now too.

We should be back up New England way in late Jan/early Feb... take in a Celtics game and hopefully watch another Patriot Superbowl win!

One day in New England in early 1988 there
was a terrible snow storm. The Straight
building was in Stoughton (south of Boston),
and I was a newcomer living with a host family in
New Hampshire.

Well the snow was so bad where we were that our
bus never came. There were only a handful of
people that rode the bus anyway. But on this
day we were fortunate enough to not have to go
to the building!!!

I wasn't there to see it, but my oldcomers host brother would later explain what happened.
Apparently a newcomer guy grabbed a fire extinguisher during exercies rap and just went nuts with it, spraying staff and kids and, I would
only imagine, made a run for it.

He was withdrawn not too long after. Again I
wasn't there to see it. But are there any other
stories of outbursts like this, in and out of the group setting?

Just curious.

i couldn't agree more, scott. it disgusts me to watch

someone in court, "in trouble" because of something

that they put in their body. you know, i think tattoos

are still outlawed in massachusetts. getting them

legally, that is.


shame on us as a society for what we do to people

like downey jr.

if the guy wants to do lines in his hotel room, more
power to him. as long as he stays off the road while

i'm tryin to designated drive my friends home.

outside the california courtroom this morning where

the hearing for robert downey jr. was taking place?


i wonder how much attention is going to be paid to

that.


they were carrying signs reading "end the drug war".

the cable companies
i hate the cable companies. in the building i live in, i pay

over $40. for my cable. i get what i want, ESPN, ESPN2, FOXSPORTSNET, ESPN Classic, HBO... etc.


but all it needs to do is rain a little and it goes out.

what really upsets me is that everyone else in the building gets cable for free!!! they've just run the coax into their VCR's and TV's and bang! i've thought about calling and cancelling my service and cheating the company and hooking it back up for free, but i can't bring myself to do that.

call me old fashioned, but i can't bring myself to steal - not even something as stinking as cable!


who cares though. i will soon have dishes in my soon to be

million dollar home. i'll get every celtics game beamed in from the skies above. and i'll have several 38" TV's to watch any and everything i want. right now i don't even have a phone in my house. i just have a cell phone. i save over $50. a month that way.


i'm not a big fan of big companies anyway. but i have to do business with them to get by. i guess i like some big companies though... the cointreau company, the milagro company, guiness imports, phillip morris, and the boston celtics - NYSE ticker symbol BOS !!!!

it's not just ruth.


my theory is that the letter "B" on the redsox cap is

what is doing them in, and has been keeping them

down for the last 82 years.


my redsox curse theory goes beyond babe.

i believe in the "buckner, bucky, babe" theory.

there's probably more "b" names in redsox annals

that have been the topic of much debate too.

maybe dennis "oil can" boyd, perhaps?

i feel _____ about ______ because...
i feel upset, sad and isolated about the red sox because

they lost today. i feel hurt because they lost to the

stupid braves. i know that i have to use my first step and

accept that i'm powerless over the braves, and over the red

sox too.


i just feel so isolated, living so far away from boston. i feel lonly because nobody seems to understand. the braves won their world series back in 1995. it's just not fair that the red sox haven't won since 1918!!!


i'm going to set a couple of goals. one, i'm going to pull

for the mets tonight, and hopefully they'll beat the yankees and the standings won't change too much. two, i'm not going to watch the red sox when they play the braves anymore. i have to let it go, use my third step, and just accept that the braves are just the braves and there is nothing i can do about it. three, i'm going to get together with some red sox people and talk, use them as support. red sox people usually understand, and i need that right now.


thanks for letting me share. i really felt frustrated earlier. and i have to bring this stuff to the group. i'm going make my

M.I. tonight all about this, use some dime therapy and call my friend alex. he hates the braves too.
