Title: CAICA FUNDRAISER

Are these donations tax deductible?  Is CAICA a non-profit?

Didn't Izzy declare she would "make Advocacy pay her money?"
How could CAICA be non-profit?
She doesn't list CAICA as NON-PROFIT, does she?

Sounds like now that Izzy doesn't work,  ttha sinceand her hubby  does not  appear to be working either, and is "helping her at CA-CA;" that they may be actually "begging" for "donations" to run this  so-called business? Could this be some way to get Positive Family Solutions--Izzy's new referral company up and running?  Surely not?

What was hubby-David's working career prior to becoming Izzy's "help-mate" at CA-CA?  Some say he was a Security Guard.  If that is true, couldn't he work the night shit, and help her during the day at CA-CA?  That sounds more like a "POSTIVE FAMILY SOLUTION for the Zendner's possible financial woes" than a fund raiser asking for DONATIONS, wouldn't you think?

It's one thing to be an "an advocate"---but it seems to be quite another to ask the public to donate money to a person , and her husband--while they go about the so-called "advocacy work;." especially when the license for Isabelle Zehnder's POSTIVE FAMILY SOLUTIONS shows it is a FOR PROFIT company.

They ought to call CAICA something else.. How about "CRISCO" for a new name? I like CRISCO as you needed it when your ass is getting reamed. Caica must need loads of crisco for all the metaphorical ass reaming they do on the truth.

Maybe Izzy needs to read her lengthy resume, and get a REAL JOB...she claims to be lots of things: baby sitter, paralegal, tutor, etc. Surely she can pick up a few bucks doing SOMETHING!

Hey I stopped lying for a living when I moved to Korea. You are gonna have to ask Izzy for the CRISCO. She seems to have the market cornered on it.

Izzy is using Chipin for Non-Profits, which advertises it "helps non-profits to leverage the fundraising capabilities of their donor base."
Chipin even provides the "banner" which keeps track of the campaign results.

Does this Chipin have any responsibility to verify if CAICA is in fact actually a NON-PROFIT before providing these services?

Self-describing your website as the most comprehensive of it's kind is a lot like picking an advocate of the month.  Meaningless.

Just noticed that CAICA has added a new page and this one claims donations are "tax deductible".

Is CAICA a non-profit?  I checked with the IRS to verify their non-profit status but wasn't successful.  Nothing came up for CAICA or Coalition Against Institutionalized Child Abuse.

http://apps.irs.gov/app/pub78 (http://apps.irs.gov/app/pub78)

If it's a non-profit, where is the documentation on the CAICA website to provide donors with the information they need?  I don't see it.

When CAICA first formed in 2005, Isabelle asked for donations in a brochure that I remember reading.  This brochure listed the names of a Board of Directors and it explained to potential donors that CAICA was awaiting official confirmation from the IRS of it's application for non-profit status.

Then it went poof.

Anybody know what is going on with this organization?  It looks to me it is run solely by Isabelle Zehnder, who calls herself founder and PRESIDENT.  President of what?  There is no Board of Directors.

http://caica.org/CAICA_Donation_Fund-raising.htm (http://caica.org/CAICA_Donation_Fund-raising.htm)

So what's the deal?  What is CAICA?  This disclaimer that says CAICA is not funded directly or indirectly by treatment programs does not answer the fundamental question.

Izzy simply stating that donations are "tax deductible" is not good enough.

The ISAC website offers people who wish to donate this option:
"Verify ISAC's Non-Profit Status With the IRS."

This option leads the reader to the Internal Revenue Service page, where the name of ISAC Corporation can be entered, and the Non-Profit status can be verified.
This IRS verification shows that ISAC's non-profit status is valid through March 2008.

COME ON, Izzy.  You gotta do better than just say, "tax deductible."
You've already said way too many things that have been proven to be "NOT TRUE....."

Izzy's "Spring and Summer Fundraising Event" goes on for pages; and she states, "CAICA has, to date been funded by Isabelle and her husband, David."
Izzy explains she gave up up her "legal career to dovote all her time to CAICA...."  As she pleads for money, she says, "She and her husband can no long do it alone."
Izzy doesn't seem to mind splattering her personal business on the internet; so maybe she can answer this question:  Does her husband, David have a job; or does he simply work at CAICA, too?

So what's the deal?  If CAICA is a non-profit, why not just provide a link for potential donors to verify their donation is indeed, tax-deductible?  That's what ISAC does.

Izzy lists CAICA as a "Washington Non-Profit" for her fundraiser.

Anyone see CAICA listed here?

Anyone find CAICA on the IRS Publication 78 website?

www.irs.gov/charities/article/0,,id=96136,00.html (http://www.irs.gov/charities/article/0,,id=96136,00.html)

Perhaps Izzy could just post her Non-Profit status to assure all contributors that their donations are tax dedutible.  That's what ISAC does.

Near as I can tell, CAICA is listed as a corporate non profit, but not registered as a charitable org with Washington State nor the IRS.  If this is not correct, please post correct info or a link.

Re the CHIP-IN fundraiser.  As I recall, the goal was to raise $10,000 before the fundraiser ends in August.

To date, since April 18, 2007 total donations to CAICA is $100.00.

Not sure why Isabelle claims donations are "tax-deductible" given there is no information on her website or numerous blogs for consumers to verify for themselves, unlike ISAC who provides a link to the IRS website where one can confirm their status as a 501 (c) 3 non profit organization.

Perhaps the best way to resolve this issue is for Zehnder to follow ISAC's lead and make this information easily accessible to potential donors.

Personally I would be loathe to make a donation to any organization that doesn't fully disclose the status of their organization or fails to provide any sort of documentation whatsoever.

Personally, others may be loathe to donate to a so-called child advocacy website whose owner works with PURE, states that programs may be a good option for parents with a troubled teen; advertises a FOR PROFIT coaching company on the website, has a "founder and owner" who writes parent-bashing blogs that promote a defunct program (Whitmore Academy) and praises the owners (the Sudweeks) who have broken laws in 3 countries and this blog has had many mistruths pointed out; so there appears there may be a problem with truth-telling.
Maybe that's why this fundraiser has only raised a couple of hundred dollars, so far?
