Actually, Chef says this:

I know both Miller Newton's address and telephone number but I wouldn't give it to you because I fear that you would act out of your anger and ruin the tremendous plans that I have for Senor Newton. Besides, Newton isn't worth your time in jail. If he already robbed you of your youth and young adulthood, certainly, you shouldn't let him rob you of your liberty and peace of mind, now. So, instead of wanting to do whatever it is you desire to do (believe me, I understand!), you could e-mail me and share some of your rage and anger towards Newton with me, for my book. Think about it:

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / Acting out

That's hillarious! But I can't imagine anyone getting away with something like that in Straight. In my mind, that guy would have been slammed into and on top of his urine and then sat on by a bunch of large guys. Then, on the ride home he'd be berated for reeking of urine. That's amazing no one did anything. I'm always fascinated that some people can get away with stuff like that. What year was that, by the way? How soon after they became Pathway?

Hi! I've been writing a book about the programs. I know you said you WEREN'T in the Seed - but I'm interested in the experiences you mention here and the types of things you witnessed and went through as a former "druggie" friend. Would you be interested in speaking with me? Because I'm very interested in speaking with you! E-mail me:

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / About Misbehaviors..........
« on: April 16, 2003, 09:27:00 PM »
I say that NONE of us were dumbasses! We were just kids in a horrible situation that few us knew how to handle.

As a person who misbehaved (and it was because I was a stubborn idiot, lest you continue to glamorize us "misbehaviors" as courageous or intelligent) I find it humorous to read that you guys look back and wish you had misbehaved! In fact, it reminds me of people that were never in the program who say they would have just "run away." As if.

But if y'all remember, you each chose to go along with the program because that was the most intelligent choice for you at that time! If I had to guess, I would say that all of you were 16 or older when you went in, and therefore were actually the ones who had a more grounded footing. You were probably closer to a young adult, than to a child, whereas I, and typically other "misbehaviors" were more child-like than young adult. So in actuality, although we acted out because we knew the program was wrong, we hadn't been through the kind of life experiences that you older kids had, so - we didn't know how to "go along." I guess it's all in the perspective, but I personally think you all made the wiser choice!

I don't have any people from the Georgia or Chesapeake, VA programs thus far. Nor for the Georgia derivative - Phoenix. If anyone is interested in telling me about their program experience for my book, (hint, hint, Anthony!)you can e-mail me at:

I don't use last names, I can change your first name, and I protect your anonymity.

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / Miller Newton Article

The webmaster of the KIDS board and the founder of ISAC have, for many years, been very, very diligent in their shadowing of ol' Newton, so I would say that the possiblity of this being a true and accurate statement are extremely high. As we know, Newton is loathed by many a Survivor, but it's the diligent survivor, like these two who have pissed on Newton's parade on a regular basis throughout the years. You should hear the accomplishments they've made in going after him too.   He's lost job after job. It is really something! I'm so proud of the tenacity these survivors have when they go after Newton. But, of course, like me, they have some very personal reasons for making sure that Newton doesn't get too comfortable in his post-program life so you can say that when it comes to Newton, we all tend to be driven to succeed! Aaahh, the sweet smell of retribution.

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / Class Action Suit

According to the attorneys that were at the first conference, you only have one or two years to file after the offense so most of us are screwed in that department. Of course, if you really want to enact some change, get that law reversed that puts a statute of limitations on this kind of stuff. Victimization is victimization and we shouldn't have to contend with a time limit before we are strong enough to face our abuser. But yeah, I wish we could get a class-action suit going! Can you imagine the legion of persons that would come forward?

And here's another good quote: "You can easily judge the character of others by how they treat those who they think can do nothing."

Bill, have you ever given me your e-mail? Because, you know, I'd like to get all the Miller Newton stories that I can get. How about you share your experience in the program with me for my book? I like to think I have an open mind. Interviewees have told me that people who were abused in the program deserved it and all I did was listen. So no matter what you say, I won't argue with you. (Of course if you criticize me, you know - I'm prone to defend myself!)   Anyway - e-mail me: [email protected]
