Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / Re: WAITING FOR REPARATIONS
« on: January 11, 2011, 09:31:48 AM »
I think the lawsuit thing would go over so much better if some of these MILLIONAIRE survivors would just pare off a mil or two in a separate account for legal actions. There are surely several MILLIONAIRE survivors out there... That's the last thing the Semblers would expect, LOL... WOOPS, they have what? MILLIONS OF $$$ TO FIGHT? Hmmm... Then the suits would get somewhere.

Here is the best I can do for now. All the paper has been either sent away for scanning or filed away in storage, but either way, here's the link that will take you as close as I can get you to this particular piece of the puzzle... You could always order a copy from the Hill, like I did, but that's a time consuming process.

Folks could even include the testimony that Newton disciple Mel Riddile gave on Capitol Hill in 1983, since that implicates quite a bit regarding the program STRAIGHT, INC. and the federal involvement. Overall, I'd say this letter has great potential. Actually, it reminds me of an idea I gave someone a month or so ago but never pursued... How many will be sent in how long of a time frame? Is this an open ended request or is there a deadline? Also, personally delivered letters to local district offices might get better service.

Thank you Dragonfly

The Troubled Teen Industry / Interesting observation about HR911
« on: January 05, 2011, 12:18:01 AM »
Not that it means much now, but I noticed that the congress folks who got the most money from their supporters are like Boehner and this Cantor character from my state. WoW, and they both voted NO for HR911. I'm tellin ya, as long as Boehner is in Congress, and his buddy Cantor has anything to do with anything, I think any kind of bill like HR911 is likely to fail. I'd like to see the Romney connection all the way around, cuz he's tight with that Lichfield character.  :deal:

The Troubled Teen Industry / Re: Gables Academy
« on: January 05, 2011, 12:13:10 AM »
Was there one of these in Plantation FL back in 1976/7 or so? I was relegated to a "Gables Academy" on the campus of Florida Air Academy there in Plantation that year. It was a couple hours day for reading comprehension. I don't think I learned anything special though, lol, but I definitely wasn't abused.

How about some memorials for those who couldn't survive Straight?

 :peace:

way back when the dfaf first had an online forum, a bunch of us rambunctious Survivor souls attacked it with a relentless posting fury of scathing abuse allegations, truth disseminations, etc... This forced the dfaf to take it offline and then a week or so later, it reappeared as a heavily moderated/censored piece of shit forum, disallowing all of our posts, etc... BUT... I was able to get to the memorial page and put 2 first names on it, representing the exact same thing as Mr. Dragonfly has suggested. Those names were still on there years later. I haven't been to their site in over a year though. If you're careful enough, you could probably get some names up there on the PDFA site before they catch on to you...

for what it's worth, I believe that in these wwasp programs, their level system is strikingly similar to straight inc. One big difference though... Consider what it would be like to be a wwasp newcomer (Level 1), a couple thousand or several thousand miles from home, your parents are being charged 50 cents for your audible farts, and you never leave the compound where you have been sent. Instead of getting that breath of fresh air walking to the host home car, you get to stay in the fart infested company of your fellow newcomers and higher level peers 24/7 until you turn 18 and are not allowed to go home to your family, unless you succumb to the cult and 'progress' to graduation day.

That being said, out of all the programs we 'watched' in the ISAC days, I never heard of another program that used host homes except for pathway family center, safe inc... khk, etc... but remember, those were the ones that took over the treatment arm of the DFAF (straight inc) when it changed its name.

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / Re: the movie
« on: November 22, 2010, 10:50:01 PM »
The straight inc can of worms is a big one, albeit a dangerous one. The last hotline that was made available to survivors was discontinued with prejudice by the doctors who volunteered their services. Survivors are cut from a different kind of cloth and I think it's SO different that even the doctors couldn't deal with it. But anyway, good luck with that idea. Keep in mind that the number would have to be available for a long time after the movie is released. You should say in the opening sequence that watching this movie may cause thoughts of suicide and/or PTSD in former straight inc clients and that there is a large number of SURVIVORS out there willing to help them. Also, I suggest to put up a number/website combo throughout the whole show. It would be nice to be able to be wherever anyone was who hadn't thought about this shit since their time and bought a ticket to the show, but that's just not possible. Gotta hope for the best.

Not that you need it, but I'll second your (webdiva) motion on a 24/7 chat line option, since that would be free and relatively anonymous if so desired. It also proved very effective in at least one of my "come down off the bridge" efforts some years ago. Personal contact is usually best, I know, I just think that you have to be very careful when putting so many sleeping psyches on the chopping block. Hell, wait till the AWAKE ones see it... you might need a whole team of operators.

IMO Existing resources available via the Internet will provide a sufficient medium through which survivors experiencing "just saw this movie" whiplashes will be able to find help, comfort, reassurance, healing, validation and whatever else may come their way during this... as we know it to be, a most stressful time. I believe that the hotline route will only complicate matters and may actually limit, to some degree or another, that response. If it aint broke, don't fix it comes to mind too. I mean, folks have done OK to this point, and a simple link at the end of the movie seems like the best idea. Once they are there, they will have the most widely available support they could ever imagine.

As far as disclaimers go, simply marketing the film by its name alone will be enough stimulation to set off most former clients' memories...

computer? I've sent out about 10 of them over the years to various survivor folks. All I need is a basic idea of what you're looking for and see if I have it and of course, an address to ship it to and walla...

For those of you who want to release a large amount of pain and "ball/chain" type weight, do the interviews!!

To me, there's nothing more powerfully or personally rewarding in my experience than doing an interview about the program. Nothing can come close to it. For example: When I was in Columbus with Pirate and NCL, there was a lot of tension in that WBNS conference room due to our testimony combined with the huge pile of evidence sitting on the table in front of that reporter. She got her boss's permission to use it and she wasted no time implicating straight inc by name right there on the prime time evening news! Talk about validation and takin a load off, whew, that was incredible.

Thank you for that update, it helps to know what to expect and all that... you know... I've been "out of the loop" so to speak for a while but haven't packed up the game face in this regard.

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / Re: Formal Felony Report on the Semblers
« on: October 28, 2010, 09:03:35 AM »
Well, for one thing, according to the FL corporation docs I have here in my file cabinet, straight inc was started in 1976, NOT 1978. I think this whole complaint needs to be re-written and you should verify this "hundreds if not thousands" of survivors willing to testify claim prior to making it. Keep in mind, this is my opinion which is based on lots of facts and experience working against "the program".

Also, back in 2002, the late Wes Fager filed a report/petition in Fairfax County GDC with the County Attorney's office outlining deaths of clients who were treated at Springfield straight inc. I was there with him when he did it. Consequently, that office never followed up or took any interest in his request. I think now that 8 years have passed that they will be less likely to be interested, but, if someone wants to go to the trouble of making such a claim, then more power to em!

Good luck  :peace:
