Did Mr. B.really dish out $350 to a stranger? I must say first it must be nice to have disposable income to just throw out of the window. Second, I don't think I could ever trust anybody sight unseen. Could that have actually been a sefless act? Or did he just get hustled?
hhmm...............

I have actually helped many people throughout the years. I was blessed with a great business and try to help many in the drug and alcohol addiction community and survivor community. Not with monies all the time but maybe a candy bar for the junkie who is jonesing or a bottle for the alcoholic before he goes into DT's. None Ya there are people you know personally through the internet that I have helped, some right here on this site. Rachael was not unique nor will she be the last person I help. Wayne went on to say on another site that I was going to buy him a computer, that was bullshit. My company has at least 10 older laptops sitting around at times, usually we send them overseas to the military men but in Waynes case since he was a fellow admin on a group we were on I extended a hand to him. His laptop was being hacked or compromised in some way I knew he needed to be on the net so I suggested I would mail him one of our extras. Got kicked in the teeth for that bit of friendliness. I don't really care because the computers will be going to good use anyway.

Sounds like Danny got hustled out of 350 and wants to spin it to save face. And with all his military hoo-rah stuff too. WTF! Wasn't Danny claiming to be a decorated military vet at one point and then someone exposed his discharge papers which stated that he was discharged over some child abuse allegations? Just askin' cause my memory aint that great anymore. I blame it on the Mexican weed.
Here is something you can do if you want send pens, pencils, tooth brushes, tooth paste, shaving cream, razors, shampoo, cologne, aftershave, combs, brushes, ect....overseas to the military men. They need it. Some of these men make very little money and come from poor families, they would enjoy it. Go to your local churches and they will have the info to help you help them. Get involved in helping someone else.

Yup, he got hustled.

Can anyone here verify BD's time at Straight inc? At this point I am assuming that he never spent even a day at one of the Straight bldg's. His fixation with Straight survivors seems to come from a mental illness and not any legitimate concern for others. He has done alot to try and harm the Straight survivor "community". Why would anybody who was really there do anything like that? Answers anyone?

Has anyone ever confirmed whether or not he was actually in Straight inc???  As far as I can tell, he is pretending to be a Survivor, due to a mental illness. Was anybody in there with him or know anybody who was in with him? Any confirmation at all?

Judge Joe Brown used behavior modification techniques to groom his victims so he could fondle their penises without them fighting back.  If they did fight back his brother Che Gookin would hold them down while JJB molested them and then they would switch.  He admitted it and seemed proud of it too.  Now he's a moderator on a site for abused kids.  Probably busy grooming all the newbies here so he can meet up and fondle their penises too.

Ask anybody here who "conned" their way through a program. Behaviour modification at the most will only last until the subject is free to go home. You sit in group, you learn the right words to say,(not believing a word of it),and tell them what they want to hear, even if it's not true.In fact it will only make things worse. All it will do is make you miss the things you love even more. And in the end will only make you more difiant. Parents should not expect some "snake oil" cure to clean up the mess they made.

This is true for some folks but others will internalize and believe in it 100 percent. They get brainwashed and for some people it can last a lifetime. There are some straightlings out there who still sing the praises of the program 25 - 30 years later. They believe that they deserved every bit of abuse they endured because they were druggie scum and straight saved them from themselves. They still believe that even now!!! In light of everything that has come out concerning the abuses perpetrated there! To this very day they say it "saved their lives". Keep in mind that some of those folks were guilty of nothing more than smoking pot with their freinds before landing at Straight. But after a year or two of thought reform at Straight they were convinced that they were a drug addict and would have surely died if not for Straight saving them. For some folks the "washing" lasts forever.

yep...howdy Shaggy

U know it dragonfly. When I emerged from Straight, dude I was a zombie. Believed 100 percent that I was just as much a drug addict as the worst heroin junkie even though I had hardly done dope at all before coming into the program. I remember one of my old friends laughing in my face when i first told him that I was a "drug addict and alcoholic". His remark was something like "what the fuck ever dude". It was so stupid but I believed it for a long time.

Sorry everybody, I was really wasted when I posted that crap. I hardly even remember all the lies i told so I had to read the whole thread again. Damn, what was I thinking? I am sorry Webdiva and Ursus and everyone else that I lied to or lied about. Sometimes when I start lying I just cant stop. Its kind of like drugs, over which I am powerless. Just the other night I was sitting in the AA parking lot, getting my buzz on waiting for the meeting to start. I was thinking about my multiple personality disorder and how it had caused me to be such an insufferable ass for so long. I thought about just walking into that meeting and telling everybody the truth about myself once and for all. Here's the real Danny people!!! Yes I am drunk and yes I am stoned, but I still believe in AA! Then I felt powerless to stop myself from continuing the charade, so I picked up my 20 year chip and headed inside for another night of clowning with the other drunks. good times brother, good times.

I just wanna say that I respect you for coming here and confessing this to the group Danny. Everybody else here (rightly) hates you, but not me Danny. You have made it very clear that you are completly powerless to stop your bad behavior. Just like when you tortured those kids at Elan. I am sure you were powerless then too Danny.   :moon:

OK I just read this one. So it seems that either Straight did a major dog and pony show for this guy or he was on the Straight payroll somehow. The report is so obviously based on faulty info and observations. Its like he accepted every Straight lie at face value. Anybody know the history behind this "report"??????

This is an excerpt from a letter by a Straight-supporting parent to the president of CBS complaining about the depiction of Straight on the investigative journalism program, 60 Minutes: (italics are added for emphasis)

"The child not only
gets the opportunity to get its life back, but also the child gets its family
back"

Note that the parent does not use the adjective "their" when referring to the horrible druggie beast hellspawn, but instead uses the term "it" when referring to children that have been placed in Straight.  To me, this may be a Freudian slip, one that is indicative of the objectification of their own children that Straight parents demonstrated, time and time again.

A very telling insight into the mind set of the program supporter can be gleaned from this one sentence, and the adjective twice used to describe the abuse victim in question.

Yeah I read that letter too. Referring to children as "it". To me, that letter proves how deep the washing really was. What kind of person refers to other human beings as "it". Fuckin Josef Mengele type shit. Really sick stuff.

The group shots looked kinda' small in the stills. What, maybe 20-30- kids? I thought Sembler packed the place like the seed. 300+ kids on a regular night. 400 when all the oldtimers would show up.

In Atlanta during the early/mid eighties we had a couple a hundred in group at any given time. Later on, I hear that the group numbers steadily shrank over the years. Lawsuits and controversy took their toll on recruitment, thank god!

As far as these group reenactments go. It looks to me like the numbers were there to make it as realistic as possible given the resources available. These folks that participated in this were really amazing great kids. I am sure the final product will be very very good.

Got himself incarcerated at Parchman Farm for that... That place is soooo big — 18,000 acres — they even have their own post office, cemetery and firehouse. They even used to have a gas chamber (1954-1998).

I have lived in MS my whole life but have never visited Parchman Penitentiary. It aint a nice place to be, thats for sure. We are basically the poorest state in the union so you can imagine what the prison system is like. Poor ol' R.L. he didn't mean to kill nobody. LOL!

Many R.L. Burnside fans prefer the "Ass Pocket of Whiskey" CD because of its straight up raw juke joint sound. However, i prefer the "Burnside on Burnside" CD myself. Can't really say why, its just better to me. "A Bothered Mind" is incredibly awesome as well.
I dig the song "Stole My Check" supposedly about a cousin of his that stole a check from him at some point. At the end of the song, if you listen carefuly you can hear R.L. drunkenly proclaim "If I knew where you was I'd whip your god damn ass right now" Classic R.L.
LOL

Glad as hell they got caught and convicted but you can't help but marvel at the carnage these 2 must have unleashed during their time on the bench. Wow! Thanks for posting this one Ursus.

Although many of the details of his personal life are in dispute, we do know that R.L. Burnside killed at least one person. A drunken dispute over a dice game led to R.L. whipping out his pistol and doing the deed. He is reported to have told the judge: "I didn't mean to kill nobody, I just meant to shoot the sonofabitch in the head. Dying was tween him and the lord." LOL!  :notworthy:
Yeah R.L. liked his whiskey and his women and apparently his pistol as well.

Favorite Songs: Shake em on down, Goin down South, and Miss Maybelle.
