Too often we all get caught up in the really shitty aspects of our lives, which is understandable to some degree, and I think that it'd be kinda cool to hear about some of the cool things that have recently happened to you. I am moving at the end of the year to Austin.
My son just got bumped up to "big boy class".
I just ate way too much red curry from the Thai place at lunch.
This isnt a positive rap, but its not a far cry from an "inspiration" list. Thats the only thing I ever remember enjoying about the program, writing a list of everything I was going to do when I got out.

I don't remember the term "inspiration list", but I do remember being taken out of group with all the other misbehavers one week, and we spent most of the time memorizing phone #s to call to try to get each other out, and talking about what we were gonna do when we got out.
I mainly wanted to hear about cool things going on in people's lives, both to maybe help inspire those of us who may be going through a rough time, and to say "Fuck you" to those who would have us believe that we are doomed to "jails, institutions, and death", etc. Contrary to popular belief, you do not have to be miserable, paranoid, hurting, or unhappy. Enjoying life is the best revenge against those that would tell us we needed Straight's bullshit interference to save us from ourselves. That and confronting Miller Newton during a service at his "church" (sorry, couldn't resist gloating....).

I did a bunch of drugs with another Straight survivor a couple of days ago.
I finished the final draft of a short story I wrote.
I convinced someone that AA was bullshit, and they stopped going to meetings. They are still off the sauce, and have started smoking pot again.

My week has been absolutely wonderful! Things are still going strong with this guy. I have the butterflies in my stomach. I feel passion again. It's more than just sex. It's more than just friends. It's more than friend's with benefits. I took a risk and opened myself up and it was worth it.

I took my kid out to the farm show today. 2 strange women hit on me. One nice older girl, who I actually kinda know... and who has seen me poetically drunk...before...already... and one just too much younger...although I humored her with antics, and magic hat physics that she'd never seen before....

Goddamn, it took my oldest 6 years of dating an asshole and consequently hangin out with other assholes that she cut herself off from all but that isolated little world which was a lot of the time pretty fucking out of control in all the ways that make parents sit bolt upright in a cold sweat. I'm getting way off here but it just feels good to see them growing up and merging into adult life the way you're supposed to. With support and confidence to go after the life they want.. Warts and all. I don't give a shit what they end up doing with they're lives as long as they're happy, idoing what they want and on their terms and I've had to fight so hard against all the naysayers and doomsdayers to try and instill that in them. I think what I've ended up with due mostly to the fact that they're just fucking awesome people, is some pretty confident, open and happy kids on the brink of their lives. What a concept, huh?

I know her, she really is an amazing mom. She doubts it herself half the time, but her kids are really great kids with good heads on their shoulders, they'll do pretty well.

Thanks. Myself and a few others would beg to differ. Not that I think I was horrible, but they went through a lot that they shouldn't have had to, some my fault some my ex's and a lot the grandparents. I did the best I could. I just wish I was armed then with a lot of the knowledge and perspective that I have now. I wouldn't have taken as much shit as I did.
