We're not stuck on ourselves Ginger. You've actually met me and know that isn't my style. I'm surprised and really hurt that Mike and Leigh, who used to be friends of ours, would ban together and resort to outright lies and personal attacks just to make SafetyNet look better. We all worked together at one point and instead of letting some of us go off on our own, they'd rather try to destroy what we're working for. I know you're friends with Mike and don't support us either, but even you can't tell me that's right.

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / The REAL story
« on: April 07, 2003, 01:04:00 PM »
For those who care, here's the deal -

Sometime in mid December, I personally took some documents to Leigh for her to copy. The arrangement was that they would be copied THAT NIGHT so I could bring them back home. However, since we were friends then, we spent a lot of time talking, she made a great dinner and we basically goofed off and didn't get the copies made. A few days passed, we needed the papers back for the bonfire since we had not made duplicates of them yet and I sent Leigh an email offering to pick them up, take them to a copy shop, and deliver a set of copies back to her. This is part of what I got as a response in an email from Leigh on Dec. 17th:

"I'm not part of your special seven-step society that has warm and fuzzy feelings about the program and shares everything so freely and lovingly EXCEPT their testimony or conversation with the likes of me.

Bill is just being a selfish, impatient prick. No
doubt, that attitude has served him well with you - but in the real world - it is highly unappealing.

Apparently, anything nice you do is counteracted by the prick you are married to.

You deal with seven-steppers, and I deal with REAL people with REAL feelings who live in the REAL world. The people I contact at least have the guts to tell me how they truly feel - they don't waste time insinuating things . . . because
they weren't brainwashed into avoiding their true feelings - or ignorant enough to spout off about what a great program it was after they take bong-hits and drop acid (and no, I'm not calling
YOU ignorant or a drug user) - I'm making a point about people we know.

If you'd like - I'd be glad to drive the paperwork over and SHOVE IT UP
BILL'S ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

At that point, I went to Leigh's home, and picked up the papers myself. When I looked through them, it was obvious that some of them were missing. Yes, Ginger - that's theft. Since Leigh had already made threats of physical violence we decided that allowing Leigh to "permanantly borrow" some papers was worth it in order to end the whole situation.

Leigh then began posting nasty messages about us on the Fornits board. I told Mike Sherman if she threatened us with violence again, I would call the police regarding the marijuana she reportedly was growing in her basement. It would appear that Leigh had reason to worry about that, because once Mike warned her of my statement, the hatemail and posts suddenly stopped. Looking back, perhaps I just should have taken the emails I received, gone to the police and pressed assault charges.

We hadn't heard one word from Leigh until she signed on with SafetyNet at the request of Mike Sherman. Then the attacks began all over again - completely unprovoked by myself or Bill. This was a private matter until Leigh, on behalf of SafetyNet, decided to prey upon Bill and I in an attempt to discredit ISAC.

ISAC spoke with A. Bush today and asked him what if anything ISAC could have done to handle things better.

A.Bush did not realize that his orginal phone call was NOT handled by ISAC and that after ISAC did take the call that they handled it professionally and with deep care and concern for both him and his wife.

Abush has offered to help ISAC as he can , and his wife has also volunteered to help ISAC in their efforts. They were both very appreciative of ISAC calling them to discuss the situation.

Abush gave ISAC permission to clarify this situation on the boards and to clarify that ISAC was not the ones that did not return his call. All call into ISAC concerning him were promptly returned.

I wish that was the case David. But since many of the attacks on ISAC are of a personal nature, it's clear to us that they could only be coming from former friends.

ISAC has made many attempts at working together, only to find lies and personal attacks posted on this board a few hours later. Our goals are to expose abusive treatment centers and assist people who have already been harmed by them. It's not about power and ego. It's about the kids still sitting in group.

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / ISAC is NOT SafetyNet
« on: April 06, 2003, 07:12:00 AM »
ISAC is actually the spawn of SafetyNet, not Satan. ISAC was formed to protect SafetyNet board members who were afraid that exposing the Semblers would cost them their jobs.

About 2 months ago, when it became obvious to ISAC that SafetyNet wasn't able to live up to it's claims, ISAC made the decision to become a completely separate organization. Since then, SafetyNet has turned this matter into a personal vendetta, has acted in a manner that lacks professionalism, and continues the abuse they claim to be trying to prevent.

To make things perfectly clear to the survivors:

ISAC does not support nor endorse SafetyNet in any way. Our mission IS to prevent abuse, not sponsor it. Therefore, we will not be attending the treatment abuse conference.

ISAC believes in handling issues in a professional manner and I may not reply on the board to all comments regarding this post.

If anon posting is banned, that ban should apply to the system administrators as well.

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / ISAC needs your help

Which job would you like me to get?

Full time daycare provider? - already got it
Secretary/accountant of a computer recycling company? - got that, too
Teacher? - check
Cook? - done
Laundress? - yep
Chauffeur? - every day
Doctor/nurse? - too often
Maid? - oh yeah

I would love to be able to continue to take money that I used to spend on my children, my home, and my own bills and put it towards shutting down the open programs, but I can't. If you don't want to donate, don't. That's fine. But you should at least have your facts straight when you post. For those of you who would like to help us continue at our current pace, it would really mean a lot to me.

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / Response from KHK staff

I'm not looking to start a brawl. Merely stating the facts in an effort to clear up any misconceptions.

Most reasonable people know it takes some time to work out the kinks, especially with volunteers spread out all over the country.

Morli got answers by phone to her questions the very night she posted her original message. Most reasonable people would agree that was pretty fast.

If you have a valid complaint about ISAC, feel free to email me.

Tells me they're having problems getting/keeping clients. Any "old druggie friends" out there might want to lay low for awhile and beware of parents suddenly willing to drive them somewhere.

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / Response from KHK staff
« on: March 21, 2003, 12:39:00 PM »
As is typical around here lately, some facts are missing from this thread -

1. No one from ISAC tried to treat Don like he was "on staff" or tell him who he could or couldn't talk to. I know. I'm the one who emailed him.

2. When Bill and I contacted KHK about doing an interview with them, the staff member who answered our email said he was already planning to do an interview "with someone from your organization named Don."

Since I knew we were going to handle that personally...

3. I emailed Don to find out if he was doing the interview on his own, or for ISAC and once he clarified that he was doing it on his own...

4. I asked Don to inform KHK that the interview was not for ISAC so that we would have a fair chance at talking to them sometime in the future.

5. No one from ISAC ever asked Don what he learned from the interview and we had no plans to.

Don, do you disagree with anything I've written?

Hey Alex,

As far as I know, St. Pete was housing kids until 1993. Then they changed their name to Straight Foundation. That didn't go over well since everyone knew Straight=Abuse, so they pulled the ol' switcheroo and became DFAF in 1995.
