Since Danny has been particularly spiteful lately, I thought this may be a good time to bring this up and demand the truth from Danny about this incident. Danny you have never properly cleared up the details of what happened the day you assaulted a female inmate at Elan by dragging her behind your van. You have made comments before about how you enjoyed doing this and in fact were laughing while stepping on the gas. You said that you had to turn up the radio to drown out this girls pleas for mercy. You were a staff member at the time and apparently went completely power-crazy. Please clear this up now so we don't have to keep going back to it.

You extremeists come out of the woodwork to attack this guy but he was just a victim of an extinct oldschool program just like some of you were. Look, he was told to get the weight off the girl and he did what he thought was right. If he didn't do it then he would be put in the Ring and forced to fistfight other residents that were probably tougher than that girl so he did what he should have done. Because she was weaker he was able to do it and get the staffs approval instead of having to fight a bigger kid. Any of us faced with choice would have dragged that girl too because it was just for exercise because she was too fat. I have no idea why you keep making a big deal out of it. He has said many times he did it and did it for her own good, which he did.

If I had dragged someone behind a car I would hang my head in shame and do everything I could to help close abusive programs. I would oppose program abuse as part of the atonement for those sins. Speaking of wilderness programs and sex, it happens all the time... at least when I was there it did. Its not like they handed out condoms so I wouldn't be surprised if some of the girls go home from wilderness with a whole new set of issues brewing inside them. I never saw a wild tribe like orgy until I was in wilderness, and don't think the staff don't join in. Parents have no idea what happens out there, it was insane.

Van dragging is a legitimate therapeutic technique! That girl would not get honest about her drug and weight problems so I improvised her treatment a little. She responded to therapy very well following the incident. The police were not called so NO ONE can say it was actually abuse. My glory days! How I long for them now.

Danny likes to call survivor stories lies but he is guilty of one of the worst abuses i ever read about on Fornits. Parents, if your child has a weight problem and you are considering a program, please understand what could happen. Someone like Danny could be on staff. If your daughter refused to exercise Danny would chain her to a truck and hit the gas. I think he called it "jogging therapy" in another thread. My name is Daniel Bennison, I was in Elan from 6/75 till 1/77 as a resident and a employee from 1/77 till 11/78.
I bring this up because of past and recent events and interactions with other residents. Guys this will be the last post I do to defend really (the indefensible) the abuse committed while I was affiliated with Elan. Whooter has informed me that he is writing a book and that I am in it on Chap. 5 because of abuses on committed at Elan while as a employee. This was my response to him after being told this,"I want you to quote this in your book. I did not say I did not abuse kids because I did as a resident and a employee. As a resident I fought in the ring for the house, screamed at folks during GM's, during a haircut, encounter groups and screamed at folks shot down while walking the house.As a employee I committed all of the abuse I mentioned above plus directed residents to verbally assault and demean residents. Did I physically abuse people, ? Yes. Now does this make me a better person then the next employee,? Yes it really does.
